It would be great if rpgfan had a top 100 rpg list, I think they would do a better job.

Now come on, that guy was ridiculous. I mean, the list is crappy, but it's no secret that FFVI and Chrono Trigger are considered among the greatest RPG's of all time. Personally I think ME2 should have been AT LEAST in the top 20, at least. And some of the other choices are down right laughable, but I don't think that FFVI being number one is because of japanese game preference. 

No matter what, Diablo 2 is the 6th greatest RPG of all time.

I'm not surprised... DAO is one of my favorite games... Its the first RPG I took seriously and got me into Bioware games (sure i played their older titles somewhat but I always lost interest before the end) thats exactly why its not on the list because its held at high regard by many of us.
Not surprised that Skyrim is on there.. Honestly shocked its as low as 7 lol.
Whats truly shocking is that ME3 isn't at 1....
What happened with the artistic integerity and perfect scores???
Oh and World of Warcraft is on this list.... Any chance of me giving them any credit is out the window.  Who is going to call that an RPG?  Really....

Fable II is on this list? Come on now. They're an enjoyable series of games, but only the first can even pretend to be an RPG.

It's no secret that I don't care for most JRPG's at all, but two of the top five being Final Fantasy games is ridiculous. Does VI deserve a place on the list? Yeah, sure. Is it the number one RPG of all time? Hell no it isn't. Heck, I'd put Pokemon (which is oddly high but not severely out of place) above it, for sure. Or within the FF series it self, XII. 

EDIT: I feel like this whole list is just a long string of ESPN C'mon Man segments.

XII? above VI? The only thing I would rate XII better is the graphics and that's because it's a couple of generations after VI came out. FF VI's gameplay, story, music, cast curbstomps XII. XII, like IX is pretty solid but somehow, utterly forgetabble as time passes.

Why is Xenoblade higher than Xenogears? It's not as ambitious and lacks the scope of Xenogears. It's been said that Xenogears and FFVIII were developed at the same time, but resources were diverted to FFVIII instead. You see a stark change when you insert disc 2 and the entire game grinds to a halt. Xenogears disc 1 though is far superior to the entire game of FFVII and VIII and IX and X and XII and that abomination we call XIII.

Well, VI and XII are the only ones I've played. Personal preference, I guess, but I liked XII's story better.

At least there is no ME3 on that list so far. ME3 is by and far the worst game to date that I think that has come out of the RPG genre. In fact it isn't even an RPG at all. It's a load of steaming pile of crap.

Well, as expected, the top 20s is the set that I agree with least.

Mere opinions:

I would not place ME1 anywhere near that high, above ME2, Planescape, KotOR, or Dark Souls.
Fallout: New Vegas was a better installment than Fallout 3, despite how much fun it was.
The lack of DA:O and KotOR 2 is disappointing.

LOL Fallout 3 & Mass Effect are in the top ten, and some crappy JRPGs took the highest spots.

What an abysmal list. Torment not even in the top ten, no Arcanum, no Bloodlines, no KotOR2, no original Icewind Dale, no Origins. Yet Oblivion is at no.22 and Diablo 2 - Diablo 2!! - at number six. Frankly, I'd put Project Eternity higher up than either of those games and it hasn't even been made yet :/

Pretty much what I thought. Diablo II was great and all, but not #6. Here, I'll just list off my top 10 and be done with the subject. No particular order.

Planescape: Torment
Final Fantasy III
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Arcanum
Chrono Cross
Seiken Densetzu 3
Mother 3
Jade Empire
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

Three of my favorite games of all time are in the top five. I can work with this list, though I would put KotOR higher.
