Then you obviously have not considered all things.OnlyShallow89 wrote...
Steamworks? Hardly a better option than Origin, all things considered.
It may have a marginally less onerous EULA than Origin, but it's still not very customer-friendly. Until Steam's terms of service say that I actually own the game I buy rather than trying to contrive some excuse that I'm really renting it, I regard Valve and Newell as part of the problem, not the solution. "Not as bad" doesn't equate to being good.AshedMan wrote...

Here's why Gabe Newell can make a statement like that: because they're raking in a ton of money through Valve and don't actually have to worry about where they're getting financing financing for their next project or letting a gazillion years go by before the release of HL2 Episode 3 (or HL3 if they ever get around to it). Valve is in a unique position, unlike your average dev.

Valve is also privately owned they answer to no one. Valve doesn't even any kind of manager postition and the like which allows for creative freedom. I think that also helps a lot.

Gabe has a genuinely strong comprehension and understanding of his customers, and you can tell in most interviews with him. Valve's one of the few gaming companies where I never asked "Why the heck did you do that?".
And on the other side of the fence...
