Does the N7 Points/Rankings mean anything anymore?

It used to be nice to play with people who had fairly high N7 points/rankings as it would somewhat (not always) indicate a level of experience and skills. With all of the missile glitches and randoms farming only on FBW to get higher levels I have noticed that some players at higher N7 points/rankings aren't necessarily very good, especially on Gold matches. It’s especially frustrating after I pack my character with all the ammo/armor etc. trimmings

What do you guys think? What’s been your experience lately especially in light of this whole missile glitch thing that tons of people are exploiting?  Just curious.

It never meant anything. 120 N7 meant you played all classes. Below that meant you were kinda new to the game.
Otherwise never meant anything at all.

I agree with you all. I used to have all my characters at level 20 and kept getting kicked out of Gold matches because my N7 level/points were low. Hopefully some of that culture changes. I know I would never kick out anyone that has a character of lvl 17 and up with decent weapons/mods etc.

N7 is misleading, since it reflects only leveling up and promotions, not actual experience. I didn't promote for a few months, so my N7 is lower than my actual experience level. I kind of wish they would add 1 point to N7 for every match completed.

I agree, I have it on a bit of a score but not much, maybe because PS3 didnt have as many of the missle glitchers. I generally say that it doesnt matter and my scale is very far and between.

Basically lower than 100 means your sorta new

Over 1000 means that you are gnerally pretty good (or just okay)

Over 4000 SHOULD mean your good.

And honestly if someone has a lower N7 I generally dont care since they could just be the kinda person who doesnt like to promote but has played this game since release. And I'm not saying I actually judge peoples skill on N7, most of these are just general and there are defintly some over 1000 people out there who suck. lucky I earned my number legitimetly

A high N7 level has a slight correlation with playing with little to no fitness; I only play on gold regardless of my character level but some don't so thats why the correlation is slight.

It doesn't mean anything specific, but is a decent way to tell how long someone has been playing. That in turn can give you a rough idea of whether or not they know what they're doing.

Pretty much. I stayed at 400 for a long time cuz promoting was just stupid and i dotn feel it helps in SP either.

It's a representation of how often somebody cared enough to press the Promote button.

People will always say it meant nothing but overall it means less than what it meant before.
We all know a good loadout doesn't always mean a good player but with more people having it all because of the glitch and not knowing how to play classes correctly they won't contribute to the team regardless of N7.

Promote more = higher N7 rank.

It doesn't mean anything more than that. Some N7>1000 I played with was horrible, even in silver, even with HarrierVI.

This indeed would be a nice change. Some type of points for completing matches rather than just leveling up to lvl 20 and promoting. This would show experience perhaps more accurately, great idea.

Higher N7 vs low N7

Possible better / end game gear.
Messed around with more classes / play styles
More knowledge of in game mechanics
Possibly a more reliable player

Notice how I said possibly since you can never know but in pugs people judge what they see.

You seem to think that N7 Ranking ever meant anything to begin with. All it's really an idicator of is how long someone has been playing the multiplayer, for the most part.

Above 120, it doesn't really mean anything.  Even below, it could be deceptive.  For example one of my friends has zero interest in the infiltrator classes, so has never leveled them to 20, but has been playing since beta.

A high N7 means they've played a lot, but a low N7 doesn't mean they haven't. Weapon levels are a better indication of how long someone has been playing, but still not very useful.

class/weapon/gear selection is somewhat useful for identifying clueless players, but sometimes people that appear to be using dumb combinations are actually good players just trying to mix it up a bit.

Basically you just can't reliably judge a player from their lobby stats.

not really because i have been playing since day 1 and quit promoting after I beat the game. I stayed at N7 200 forever. I am now only an N7 300+ because of the promote weekend a couple weeks ago. (back when we had the other two weekends I was working and did not get to play in them).

to me all it means if you are higher is that you hit the x button a lot more than i did. (I have played with a couple of guys that were N7 15000 + and they were not that great IMHO and I have played with quite a few N7 120's that could wipe the floor with just about anyone.)

is still an indicator, don't judge only based on it, but is still somewhat useful
