Agreed.

LOL @ Bioware getting thrown under the bus by their own employer. Serves them right for selling to EA in the first place.

Except they didn't. Bioware joined Elevation Partners which sold it to EA.

The doctors had stakes in the company. Even if they had no choice they still made out well and could have left in protest.

We should blame the Devil, as he's the reason we hurt!!!

srsly I got over the ending thing, Casey brought us Mass Effect, even despite its gameplay I love it, then ME2 happened, well I really like it, I even bought Cerberus Network last week, because I felt like it same for ME3 I will continue to buy SP DLC because damn even with its flaws ME3 for me is Great game, but the truth is we will never know who's blame, yeah we can point fingers at people, but we weren't on those meetings, in the studio, so we don't actually know how it went down, and I'm not  trying to defend E.A. or BioWare, oh yeah coudl someone tell me why did BioWare left Microsoft??

But how would leaving in protest do any good to Bioware? EA would still buy it from Elevation Partners. Also, interesting thing. John Riccitiello was one of co-founders of Elevation Partners and became the CEO of Bioware/Pandemic after Elevation Partners aquired it. In February 2007, he became CEO of EA. 8 months later, EA bought Bioware from Elevation Partners. Suspicious as hell

Both are to blame.
Bioware's devs for randomly deciding to abandon their original plans and to super-charge the last 10 minutes of their game with nihilism.

I really wish people would stop misusing "nihilism" this way.

yeah people don't think EA forced the ending on BW they think EA gave BW an unfair deadline. BW of ME1 probably thought they would have time to invest into ME3 and didn't worry about the impact different choices would have. BW EA started whining about "the variables" all of a sudden a year ago and eventually came up with War Assets to cut corners so every decision doesn't impact outcome rather it's a number added into a pool. The pressure for a quick turn around and loads of cash = worse games. This is the reason people blame EA, not that some executive got inspired and forced the catalyst plot onto bioware.

Well, if it's true then it's not misusing it.

As many see it all of the choices are exactly that-they are destructive of the world or galaxy, they lack established morality, do not create or promote life with intrinsic meaning-in fact they rather destroy the intrinsic meaning of life.  They create despair, for players and in the game of those players.

So, it seems apt.

wow...way to throw one of your own studios under the bus. Granted Hunson and Walters laid down in front of that particular bus...EA with their shipdate stepped on the gas.

I think Gibeau now has an unfortunate problem. If what he says is true then his research is not that important to EA after all. And if nobody is using it then I wouldn't be surprised if EA fires him before the end of the week. :P

Reading the article he does talk very well of Casey and said EA would financially back em, so maybe this means Dues Ex live action starring Casey Hudson!!!

*explosion in my pants*

2 million box office book it!

Yes. EA did not write this. No sane executive would have let this out the door.

I've been saying this for MONTHS.

Obviously this, but EA are partly still to blame for their tight deadlines. ME3 needed another year, at least.

This doesn't affect EA's status as "parasite of the gaming industry".

I feel EA gets too much hate. I have far more disdain for capcom and its dlc policies. Also ubisoft and its DRM.

off topic. Ubisoft decided to stop the must be online DRM.

On topic.
To be honest, i don't know if the original ME3 ending was exactly what Mr Hudson and Walters wanted or if they did what they could with the dealine.
I wonder if now that they made EC, if they think EC fit better their goal or if they concider it mostly fan service in case the original ending turn to be better for them.

Personnaly, i don't like the original ME3 ending because it betrays the ME concept. With EC, i still don't like the catalyste and all, but it is done within the ME concept, so even if i'm not big fan of it, i impartialy judge it is ME wise acceptable. Futher more, Leviathan was really something the original game needed. If my first ME3 playthrough had been with EC and Leviathan, it would have been one of the best Bioware game experience since i know them (from baldur's gate 1).

Anyway... the original game was out since 6 month, but i'm glad that it is now fixed for me; because i couldn't play ME games (i had about 16 complet playthrough started at ME1 ended in ME2), now i can play again and i'm realy enjoyng it.
With the original ending, it's like i wasn't following anymore the head dev... and IMO, it wasn't me that was too slow, it was Mr Hudson and Walters that got too far too quicly without noticing it. With EC and Leviathan, i feel we (me and what the dev wanted to tell through their game) are at the same level again.

On Mr Hudson popularity... i know the EA guy says he his popular and lot of people on this board would desagree... but for me, even if i don't like the original ending to the point i had no wish to play ME games, even if i don't realy understand why Mr Hudson seemed to contradict the promises of what ME3 ending would not be (ABC ending); I still think it doesn't erase his work on the trilogie, and he pulled somthing amazing with the ME team.
At least, the guy have my respect for that, and i'm looking forward to his next game (hater gonna hate but i don't care)... i just hope the ending won't be again a ****storm, that's all.

How to gently throw a company under the bus...
Geez, this guy is shameless.
I don't like ME3 at all, but I highly doubt that BW chose to develop the third and conclusive installment of a once amazing series in just one year.
(Lack of) Time can make more damage than a broken plot.

It takes two to tango - EA set the parameters of the project, but Bioware wrote and developed the material. Both must take the blame and/or credit for the result.

Poor guys.

I'm still not a fan of how ME3 was done, but for all its problems, ME3 had some of my favorite moments in any BioWare game. And it's not as though Casey and Mac are the only guys working on this. There's a studio of hundreds of people who probably worked through months of 70+ hour crunch weeks...and then to get this treatment from EA? Not to mention the people who are so bitter they spew vitriol at the studio? Shameful.

The spiteful part of me says "I believe that", the Mass Effect 2 part of me says "Me too, but what happened?"
