Was this even a question? Even the slightest logic would tell you that if EA forced an ending on Bioware it would be very vanilla, showy and aimed at the broadest possible audience.

Pushing the button to turn on the Catalyst would result in all the Reapers exploding in a manner so spectacular that Michael Bay would be jealous.

STILL a better ending than ME3.

That's right, mindless garbage STILL would have been better than a very VERY poorly executed exercise in pretention that's NOWHERE near as smart or sophistocated as the writer would like to think it is.  An ending that only an angsty 14 year old who writes bad poetry about death and how unfair the world is could appreciate.

I like Casey Hudson. He was project lead on each game. Anybody that ever gave a damn about Mass Effect should be thanking him

Yes. EA did not write this. No sane executive would have let this out the door.

I've been saying this for MONTHS.

So? ea was the ones who didn't give them enough time to make a proper ending. The still are at fault.

ME 3 got a six month delay.

Why?  ME3 actually ruined the entire franchise for me.  The series has been turned into one big funeral march.  If anything it's a wash, only I did waste time caring about a franchise that eventually turned around and slapped me in the face.   Hard.

...the Extended cut was about 3 months after day zero, and it bearly changed a few things. getting a six month delay that far ahead is like getting a day delay for a project that was suppose to be due tomorrow, but now it's the day after tomorrow it is due.

I do, and so does most people.

Pretentious fake "art" endings is for the niche crowd. The one that can't find anyone to sit next to them to watch 2000 space oddysey for the 1000th time, because we find it mindnumbingly boring and fall asleep.

I think it's always been obvious that EA wasn't responsible for the ending. If they were, then ME3's ending would've been a vanilla, cliche-ridden happy ending with Shepard alive and well. After all, there's no way they'd kill off the main protagonist of one of their most profitable franchises!

Ironically, in that case, it would've been better if EA asserted itself over the ending.

Oh you guys! And oh this silly thread!
So let me get this straight: When someone doesn't like part of a BW game it's because it's rushed by EA and/ or because the endings are being defended by the devs then it must be 'artistic integrity'. Which has turned into a bad thing even though there are folks here who worry that EA is controlling them too much.
Also, when the EC was released it was because BW was admitting they were 'wrong' but since it was free it was really them catering to a vocal minority/ majority/ true fan base, which was bad too. And now if EA says that they stay out of BW's creative way then it really means that something is the opposite and is also very very bad?
And now, because Casey Hudson doesn't post in a forum filled with butt hurt (BSN) then it must be because he's 'hiding/ ashamed'.

Did any of you ever consider that maybe devs don't post more here because this forum is filled with a bunch on insane people who can't be pleased, won't budge on your opinion no matter what, are incredibly condescending, and use terminology that someone misrepresented from scanning Wikipedia as an actual argument? Does that honestly sound like an environment for constructive feedback?

(SPOILER ALERT: The answer is 'no')

EA really gave them three months instead of six?

I thought it was four. Wasn't it initially releasing early November 2011?

The thing is, both are too blame. Bioware for coming up with this horrible ending and EA for giving them an unreasonable deadline. The only that got shafted here are us, the consumers.

EA really gave them three months instead of six?

Yes, because they wanted it released before the end of their fiscal year so they wouldn't have to report a loss.

mac and casey are responsible for the endings. that has even been confirmed by the other writers.

they wrote it, they are responsible for there writing. period.

then whatever contributing factor EA's demands had overall on the game
is up for debate. either way. they both ( EA and bioware) did a ****** poor job.

wich is evident by the numerous flaws of the game.
from 2d sprites to cut content to autodialogue.

Speaks volume about how EA fails, when they have to rely on one game meeting its deadline or else they're screwed.

Also, I think Casey Hudson did an awesome job on the ME franchise, ME3 included. And if a guy from EA who's job is to see what people like/ don't like, says people enjoy Casey Hudson's games, I'm going to believe him over some random somebody's feelings on statistics based on absolutely nothing no one officially said.

I agree with this person. Casey Hudson brought me Mass effect but if I knew how it ended I would of never started.

Well, if that's the sort of thing you like then you want EA to interfere with Bioware more, not less.

Yes, because we all know that cartoons never have deep, emotional endings and they're all just a bunch of shallow tripe for kids, right? <_<
