This is for those that hated the ending, like me. If you liked the ending, I am NOT looking to start another thread to fight with you, so please look to other threads for entertainment.
Now, for those of you that hated the ending, would you have found it better if they had made Conventional Victory possible?
This may have been said before, but I for one think they should have just had LESS REAPERS. Yeah they (the Reapers) are powerful, and yeah if you didn't have enough allies you could lose or win with devastating effects. But they (Bioware) clearly showed throughout the series that reapers could be destroyed (Sovereign, Reaper on Rannoch, Reaper in London), but if you just had LESS OF THEM a conventional victory would have been very achieveable.
This way, starbrat could have been taken out of the equation and we could have had a bad ass boss battle at the end with Harbinger and TIM.

Would this have made you happy? It would have made me ecstatic to see all that firepower come to earth and devastate the Reapers while I took out TIM & Harbinger.

Just my thoughts.

I just want to point out that the Reaper on Rannoch and the one you nuke with a Thanix missile in London are Destroyers, not capital ships.

Link fixed.

And hell yes, OP. I hated the endings because they're flat out absurd, not because I didn't get enough "clarity and closure".
I'd easily give up the latter to address the former.

Exactly. To me they were beyond absurd and totally warped and negated my entire ME experience. The fact that it still upsets so many people 6 months later SHOULD tell Bioware something. At least you would think...

I would be happy if there were no choices at all. And I would be happy if they re-did Priority: Earth mission. No StarChild would make me happy too. And some sort of happy-ending would please me greatly.

As for conventional victory: I am not for, nor against it. I think it should have been an option, although, I see other people points of why it is very hard to achieve. The whole idea of explaining Reapers goals and their origin is just a failure, in my opinion. They should have left them mysterious and dangerous, and let us to have THE final battle. No, I do not consider it too video-gamy, by the way.

I don't mind that the reapers cannot be defeated conventionally, nor was I bothered when the game didn't include such an option. I do mind however when new antagonists are introduced in the last 10 minutes.

"Video Gamey"

Likely the WORST phrase ever put "out there" by a video game company representative.

I don't think that conventional victory could have worked, what exactly makes this cycle any better at defeating the Reapers conventially than the hundreds of cycles that came before us?

-Thanix Weapons

-Reapers don't control the relays, thus they are stretched thin. (This is their biggest advantage)

-Reapers had to travel thousands of light years to get here. (If Arrival meant anything, this should have weakened them)

-Various Reaper tech.

-Infometric Arrays (Give us the exact location of every Reaper in the galaxy at all times)

Maybe if the series went in a different direction with Mass Effect 2. If the governments of the universe didn't pretend the Reapers didn't exist and instead started building up their militaries then a conventional victory would have made some sense sense.

Given the state of the galaxy in Mass Effect 3, it would have been better if the Crucible was a Reaper weakening device. Something that would stun them or drain their shields long enough for the fleets to finish them off. If your EMS was too low the fleet wouldn't be able to kill the Reapers before the Reapers recovered. I'd much rather have that.

I for one do not believe that there needed to be less reapers, instead there should have been a different backround project that was the retrofit of as many ships as possible with thanix cannons.

So.....people that like the ending should completely ignore this thread, even though when a pro-Ender makes a thread for other pro-enders, the haters always make it a point to come and add their two cents?

Hmm.....interesting concept.

its in the "Art if the Mass Effect Universe" book. They said a final boss battle with a disfigured and huskified TIM would be "too video-gamey"

Aww....sensitive are we? Lol don't worry, your report won't do anything. He's not gonna get banned or anything. Especially since you simply did it because he has a different opinion than you. Nice try though.

It wouldn't be right if a conventional victory was possible. It was stated several times throughout the game that winning conventionally just wasn't going to work. If it did, then what was the whole point in building the Crucible at all?

Now if the Crucible simply just crippled the Reapers instead of what it currently does now, so that a conventional victory would be possible, then I could see it as a possibility.

Edit: Just to correct a small spelling mistake on my part.
