I haven't given my opinion of Priority: Earth as a mission. I already said I thought ME2's ending was terrible in terms of plot, so it's not 'different'.

Nice try though.

Yet it is "different" because its the "cool thing to do" when its directed at ME3 even when that opinion causes contradicts to appear in ME1 and ME2.  Again all 3 of the last missions in the ME games were handled the same as a good set of multiple missions.

ME1 was fine both gameplay and plot-wise.

ME2 was fantastic gameplay-wise but was largely terrible plot-wise.

ME3 was average gameplay-wise, and shockingly bad plot-wise.

Just my opinion, from experience.

Actually, now that I have played ME3 I don't get why the endboss in ME2 is a human-like reaper, if all other reapers look like leviathan. Though when playing ME2 I didn't have this information, so it was ok back then.
Priority:earth just feels so wrong to me at so many points.. why don't the reapers turn off the beam? why does shepard survive harbingers beam? why doesn't harbinger shoot the normandy at high EMS ending? how have anderson and TIM made it to the citadel? just some of them...

The human-Reaper looked like that in ME2 based on it was far from finished thus it didn't have its shell.  To be fair nobody has those answers other then Shepard wasn't a direct target of Harbinger's blast, the Normandy still has its Reaper IFF from ME2 time, we don't know if Shepard blacked at after the beam, and TIM went to the Citdael before yo fought Kai Leng for the last time.

so basically you assume that every sovereign class reaper has something like a "pilot" inside that looks like the harvested race? quite a stretch.
I heard about that reaper IFF thing though imho it's unlikely harbinger doesn't realize that it's not a reaper if it's just some hundred meters away and evacuating people he just shot at 10 seconds before.
Ok TIM went to citadel and found that room nobody before has ever seen (seems so) but what about anderson?
I know in the intro it seems like he can run faster than usain bolt when he just overtakes you while running and such... though still unlikely harbinger wasn't able to kill him... anyway, the whole beam run scene doesn't make sense imho. you see soldier after soldier being atomized by harbinger and retreat is still not an option? You gathered this huge armada during the game, killed two reapers and now this is your best plan? running down a hill that has zero cover? By foot? in front of the biggest badass reaper of all times? really?

Sorry, but this part is joke. I'm here from the releasing day and there wasn't even one pro-ender thread which wasn't attacked and mostly totally destroyed by anti-enders. And terms, that they used, were sometimes much, much worse then haters.

indeed.

stoop to who's level? The haters? As you can see, I'm not mindlessly bashing anybody or hating on them for having a different opinion than my own. In fact, I'm simply commenting on the topic. I'd have to stoop pretty low to be on that level, and I haven't even started stooping yet lol Way to make an assumption though

It is an official explanation made by Mac Walters in an interview between ME2 and ME3. While some people consider it a retcon to avoid having every Reaper unique, Bioware's Patrick Weekes claims that was the idea even when ME2 was developed, and suicide mission was meant to show all stages of Reaper construction, including putting the larva aka protoreaper aka "a pilot" into the Sovereign-like outer shell.

yeah just realized it in another thread. I still think it's lame, however it's an explanation. thanks.

That was capital ship, actually.

Yet that was detroyer.

Each of the Reapers insides vary based on what one species made it then a shell is made to encase it.  This was briefly explained in ME2.

TIM is working with the Reapers and we don't know if Shepard paced out after the beam.  Why wouldn't the beam run make sense when Harbinger wasn't there and Shepard just cleared the way to get to the beam.

Every Reaper is unique just like how every human is unique, but there are still limitations even when you have an "imperfect" or "perfect" design.

Thats a joke to say it looks like Sovreign since it didn't especially when Sovreign is a lot bigger then that Reaper.  Looks don't mean the same as scale.

It should be around 2 kilometres long. It does seem to be much smaller in the movie, Kodiak has like, what, 10 metres? It should be 1:200 scale, looks like somewhat less. It certainly has a model of capital ship, not destroyer. It is either sloppy moviemaking, some other Reaper type, like transport or something, or the scale is correct and it just looks weird. It is much bigger than Destroyer, Destroyer has just 160 metres.

Or maybe it's just nonsense. Thinking more about it, the whole normandy evacuation scene is nonsense. We have no time to regroup, but we have time to land the normandy, get the squadmates in and have some chat. Then suddenly shepard must go and run down the hill. Sorry, but if we can land the normandy on ground zero we can make a better plan than shepard running down this hill. Maybe normandy escorts him down or puts out the thannix cannon and shoots harbinger. Anything that helps shepard getting to that beam. But no, they just do nothing. Would joker really let shepard run down this hill alone without any help? I don't think so.
By the way, if normandy is invisible to the reapers, why do we even need hammer? Just fly to the beam with the normandy, kill the husks and marauder shields with your big bad thannix cannons, land the shuttle (or drop off with ropes lol), enter beam -> profit.

But Harbinger IS there. So it doesn't make sense to run down this hill as it is absolutely impossible to get to the beam. The only reason for shepard to live after he gets hit by the beam is hollywood blockbuster superhero space magic. The trilogy really deservers something better.
Okok, nevermind about TIM I can arrange with this. But anderson? He tells everyone "NO RETREAT" but then waits till everyone gets punished, even shepard who kills the husks and marauder shields with a pistol and then sneaks up behind him? meh...

And hell yes, OP. I hated the endings because they're flat out absurd, not because I didn't get enough "clarity and closure".
I'd easily give up the latter to address the former.

Yes.  The ending should fit the series, not be the antithesis of it.  And it should not force the player to lose and choose a solution devised by the main villian.

Not to mention, it should not contradict everything about the Reapers that has been defined before it (e.g. Soverign's speech to Shepard).

Yet you assume that Destroyers only come in one form but its still about scale and behavior because it doesn't dwarf the kodiak as much and a Capital ship wouldn't be alone.  Maybe its a Reaper transport but we still have very little knowledge on the Reapers.

Yet its a Destroyer while scale and behavior is important, which that tells us that its not a Capital ship.

You seem to forget that the Normandy isn't that powerful of a ship and its insane to travel in the air when the Reapers rule the sky.

Staying behind isn't retreating and plus you're comparing an old man to a middle-aged man/woman.
