Can't bring myself to care or sympathize with the rage, a shame.

Still not buying this comic though, not out of some grandiose feeling that it'll serve some greater purpose, but becasue it just wasn't a very interesting comic.

Read it at a local store called hastings, artwork was decent, not as good as the garrus one but leagues better than tali's. Didn't feel like forced foreshadowing and it had a decent enough plot, seeing an underwater hammerhead on khaje was good, and nothing felt as bad as the op was making it out to be.

In the end, as someone with a general knowledge of comics and a large knowledge of mass effect's universe, it was just okay. Not good, not bad, just meh really, a meh of a more positive leaning, but still meh.

And the negative reaction here is in the same vein as the cover's tagline of "last hope for the galaxy",

hyperbole and overblown claims.

since the hole plot is liara chasing leads about crusible I think its valid to
complain about THAT acually beeing the plot after how  "not so well" receaved it was.

why do backstory on a part that was The most unappreciated part of the entire franchise...
and that Mac wrote this now I think tells a thing or two about they He thinks about His ME3 endings.

I agree on the underwater hammerhead beeing the "highlight" but as you so eloquently put it everything else was "meh"

but you saying that i hyperbole and  use overblown claims, that is not true and you know it.

the 3 points i made are simple. 2 are factuall event in the comic. one is a eazy made assuption of mac walters
opinion about the crusible plot. and it is Not far fetched in anyway.
you opinion about these however is yours to have either way.
but dont go claiming i missrepresentaded the comic, I did not

Okay, at first I was angry and annoyed at MW.. (OMG.. Mac Walters = Modern Warfare! =O)

But after having read through the thread this is my logical conclusion.

1. I agree with Shotgun Julia on this one. It could work if explained properly.
2. No comment.
3. This is deception level stupid. Just utterly ridiculous. Was the Phantom by any chance Kai Leng?

Also, if nothing in the comic is suppose to mean anything I don't think it should include the central plot point from ME3 at all.

well nothing really happends in the comic. liara goes on a leads chase from place to place.
and relize she need to go to mars. the end.

the Phantom was "alone" and Tim tries to tell liara that is was a renegade Phantom breaking free from cerberus
and doing its own thing, but it wont happen again becouse TIM will make sure it wont.

so it was just some random Phantom....

... that's a new low for the series. Why exactly is Mac writing other things when ME3 is still unfinished? How about instead of committing to write a comic for Dark Horse you manage your time wisely and finish writing ME3 properly. On second thought no, keep this man away from all future projects.

im not really sure why he choose this route for the last comic.
becouse since he wrote invasion, I know how good he acually can be,
i loved that comic to bad is was never continued in Me3 as. eh they said it would.

More Liara-slobber by Mac and Sylvia, amirite?

And least when Feketekuty writes her, she comes off as somewhat grounded and not, well...a psycho.

i have to say i have not complaint about the characters in this comic
its the story/plot i really dislike (subjective opinion)
and the "bugged SB lair"
and one woman army Phantom for doing something she should not be able to do alone

inte one of the Most protected Prothean sites on the hanar homeworld in an underwater base.
with numoerous drells on guard duty and hightech defence system ( torpedos...)

I don't think BSN is able to objectively critiscize something without attacking personallly, this is probably one of the most unpleasent fanbases. Well, good to know.

it think critisising someone for what they have written is okay.
if people critisized him for who he is or what he is, then you might have a point.
but you dont.

This comic seems to prove that Liara is the worst Shadow broker ever.
If you release a comic foreshadowing something after the events happened it's ok because it's still considered foreshadowing.
The comic was publicated 29 of August, should have writeen it on twitter. Why no twitter now Mac?
TIM should have sent that phantom to fight Shepard instead of a comic relief character (Kai Leng).

Wow. That must be the dumbest comic story I've seen from BioWare.

Just admit that you screwed up and move on, already. You're not fixing anything by doing all this crap. You're only making it worse to the point where it's just pathetic how you're trying to promote some of the worst writing in video game history.

1. TIM apparantly has surveilance equipment in the shadowbroker lair
and can both see and hear EVERYTHING liara does there, including intercept coms.

Either Mac Walters is just so inept on how Shadow Broker works or Liara is a terrible Shadow Broker.

I lean for both.

2. mac walters still love the crusible and catalyst and still thinks its a good idea to
to a story about the crusible in this comic despise the controversy.

Actually, the ideas of those two are good and could work.

Buuuut, let's not talk about how those two were badly executed.

3. One Phantom can easally undetected trawel to the hanarhome world and penetrate
a heavally guarded underwater facility and kill dozens of drell assassins protecting said facility.

/facepalm

Really Mac?!

oh, and nothing really happends in this comic that means anything.

Kinda Liara in entire trilogy.

So much pointed to be important character, but in the end she is not and just forced on us.

I have 2 thoughts on that Phantom;
1 - Did she eat any of Liara's cereal?
2 - Why not use the Phantom to eliminate Shepard and anyone else who could be in the way instead of 'Mr. Cut-Scene Awesomeness', Kai Leng, when its clearly obvious she make KL look like a ninja-boy scout wannabe?

As to TIM though, more 'proof' of his infallibility and awesomeness to know-all and see-all....

I've read every homeworlds comic. Garrus was one of their best comics in the entire ME run, but Liara's was...just weird. Like weird.

Why did they make a drell that looks like Feron, almost IDENTICALLY like Feron, and have it be some other guy? Was it supposed to be Feron and then they forgot about him? Then there was just so much wandering around. We learn nothing about Liara's backstory, except maybe a single panel where we talk to her old teacher. We don't even learn much about the crucible.

I don't even really understand what happened.

Edit: And more importantly, why did they tell this story? The whole point of homworlds was to learn about characters. Some people were pissed that Liara got a second comic run. One would assume they rationalized it as: "Liara is popular, therefore, people want to learn more about her." But we didn't. Instead we got a really jumbled mess that doesn't even fit in with the other homeworld's stories. It isn't about Liara.

They could have easily given that comic to another character. There was no reason for it to be the style it was, espiecially when it wasn't even a launch comic for ME3.

I don't even...

What is this?

STOP JUST STOP... You're a great character writer, Walters, but this is not a good sign for Mass Effect if you churn out stuff like this. I would understand if it was some minor writer, but come on, you're the LEAD WRITER, you should know better than add crap like this.

Maybe you don't understand how dissapointed most of the fan base is. And if people aren't happy its mainly because they care for the series and are sick of its credibility being pushed further into the mud.

so we what, attack people, call them "hacks". I don't care if some people throw a hissy fit, mac doesn't deserve half the **** that gets thrown at him. It's credibility is not being pushed "further" into the mud, it was never in the mud in the first place.

First of all, that's crap and you know it.

Second of all, if Mac wants the attacks to stop, he should stop f***ing with the Mass Effect lore. Obviously I don't condone half the crap that has been said. But that's what happens when you f*** with something somebody loves.

How did she find the Crucible plans, anyway? Did she just arrive on Mars, point at a random hill and say "Let's look over there"?

Aparently yes. You could find the tomb of Genghis Khan this way.

Just read the OP.

Well, everyone knows Liara and TIM are his favorite characters. So why not make the former appear in YET ANOTHER comic while giving the latter YET ANOTHER insane power boost?

Sorry. Do Not Want. I just can't stand Liara for another second. F*cking writer's pet.

i see this alot, and i think its foolish to even say.

at what point is "the begining?"

"The beginning" is the point at which they wrote the game. Clearly, the idea of the Crucible and the Catalyst was in full swing when ME2 was released, which was around the same time the team started working on ME3.

are you saying they totally planned ME3 to be the most WTF game ever?

Cute. You say that as if it is fact.

I don't see the issue. TIM got his hands on some badass tech and after the collectors were gone he set his sights on the shadow broker. Not completely inconceiveable that he intercepted some nav points or info from when shep helped liara

And I see no issue with a phantom taking out a dozen drell if they're taken out separately. Not every drell is going to be thane. In fact, thane is probably in the top 1% and even he was killed. Yeah he was sick but kai leng couldn't use 1v1 strategy with 3 people behind thane waiting to shoot so if they went 1v1, kai leng would still win. The phantoms just have too much tech
