Why can't you combine some of the new weapons upgrades with Leviathan?

I just downloaded Leviathan and have purchased some of the new upgrades on the Citadel. When I apply some of them to my weapons, it won't allow me to combine them with some of the upgrades that came with the original game. For example the Ultralight pistol mod can't be combined with the ammo capacity upgrade and the SMG stabilizer can't be combined with the Ultralight upgrade. Is it supposed to be like this or is it a glitch? Or am I just an idiot and missed something in their descriptions that answers this question in-game? Thanks!

I guess it's supposed to be like that. In multiplayer there's no way to use pierce mod + extended barrel on the Hurricane.

It's supposed to be like that. There can be only one.

It is supposed to be like that. You cannot combine mods that modify the same part of the gun. For example, the SMG Stabilizer and SMG Ultralight cannot be combined since they are modifying the same part of the gun.

If you're asking whether there's any particular trick to using two restricted mods together, then as others have said, nope, doesn't work.

If you're asking what the logic is behind it.... in-game, there is none. Technically, I'd assume mods are assigned to given parts of the firearm in the game code and it looks like some parts have been double-parked - both the high-velocity and extended barrels on a submachine gun add a barrel extension onto the model, botht eh ultralights and mass pulse recoil mods change the SMG's body colour, etc etc.
