Since when was Kaidan Bisexual

What's so surprising about Kaiden being bi-sexual? Maybe he just figured it out. Sometimes it takes people a while. I knew a guy didn't know he was bi until he was in his 30s.

Well there was more than one reason for one they had already stirred up controversy by having the liara romance in me1 (blame fox) and that would leave ashley as the only straight romance option and making her bisexual would have seemed like a strecth do to personality and the fact that having everyone on the ship be bisexual would not make sense, and first one out the gate you don't want to get to crazy and you have to set your own line of development comfort because in me1 they had sex scenes (light as they were) how many straight developers would feel comfortable animating it.eddieoctane wrote...

Diversity.
Yay diversity. How noble of BioWare...
I believe Kaiden was supposed to be bisexual in ME1. But it got cut for some reason or other.
maybe thats why every other scene was fade to black except liara or just development time in general
(blame or thank EA)
As for kaidens in me3 well maybe the writers forgot he was hetero they certainally forgot more important things in the story besides that. But for me he died at virmire as that guy I only talked to maybe twice and left out of the party once I got garrus.

Just played through as Male Shep for the second time, romance Ash the fist time, this time had Kaiden as VS, and noticed that he was getting romance options. While I dont mind as such, there was no hint of this in ME1.
Why did BW decide to make him Bi, and why not Ashley as well, or in fact every character?, its not like therre were no option for Male Shep, Steve for example, my Male Shep was mates with Steve while romancing Ashley, and I liked Steves character development. But Kaidan's seems forced to me.
Same reason Anders from DA: Awekening wasn't mentioned as being Bi. then it comes out of left field in DA2

In neither games, the fact that these two men also like men isn't presented as a plot twist. It's only a "twist" because neither characters were flamboyant men. Lets face it: when Zevran said he liked men nobody was that surprised. It's your sense of a sterotypical gay men that is making it "come from left field".
And note I didn't say homophobic.

Exactly. Also, some people know for a long time but never act on it because they haven't yet accepted it and/or had their orientation affect their life much. Until they meet someone of the same sex that they are attracted to, they can just pretend to be exclusively straight and not have to deal with the social repurcussions of coming out.

Has nobody been in the same room of members of the sex they're attracted to without being attracted to any of them?

Anders as a character took a 180 degree turn from awekening to DA2 as a personality in general. the Bi thing is just icing on the cake. Anders sucked in DA2 (not because he's BI) but because he was a whiney pansy. he was funny and sarcastic in Awekening. As for Kaiden, he was a lot less annoying than Racist Williams

I do agree with you on that. That his personality was quite whiny from his Awakening counterpart. I'm chalking it up to the whole Justice thing though.corkey sweet wrote...

Funny, I thought Anders was a "whiney pansy" in DA:O...a trait he and Kaiden share. I couldn't give two cents about which way they swing, but that they're whiny little b*tches does...

Also, since we're roleplaying, those players who feel they ARE Shepard don't understand how to handle unwanted advances from the same-sex, so having to experience it on-screen, it's same as real-life I guess.

Kaidan definitely was into women in ME1, and that hasn't changed. When you can point us to a line where he says "I don't like dem lollipops", you will indeed be right he was heterosexual in ME1. Until then, you can't state it as a fact.Binary_Helix 1 wrote...

Apparently it is a staggering effort for some to stop presuming everyone is heterosexual in the absence of explicitly queer behaviour.
Was the romantic arc with Kaidan in ME3 the result of BioWare making calculated decisions? Naturally. But so were every other romance in the game. And no matter how many times the detractors might attempt to argue otherwise, there is absolutely no diegetic basis for the assertion that Kaidan is strictly heterosexual.
