Hey all,

Just installed the Dragon Age Toolset 1.01 on my 32-bit copy of Windows 7, but when I went to go play around with it, I got the "Unable to connect to the database" error.  Apparently this is a common error, as there is an entire wiki page dedicated to it.  I went through the whole flowchart on the page:
  • Did the database get restored? (Yes, I have the proper files in the correct location)
  • Is the database service running? (Yep)
  • Is the toolset pointing to the database (Followed all of the instructions, running command prompt as administrator)
And still, the toolset doesn't work.  I ran ConfigureToolset.exe and, with the default values for the database, when I press the "Test Connection" button, I get "Test failed because of an error in initializing provider... The login failed".

I was really excited about the possibilities of this new toolset.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

see if that helps, i have the same "unable to connect to database error". Still do, although the website may help you more than it has helped me.

Several issues with Dragon Age Toolset and Windows 7 64-bit:

Can't get Microsft SQL to work. I worked around this by installing the Toolset without SQL, instead using Microsoft Office Access. I got the database created successfully in Access and, using the Toolset Configuration Utility, was able to connect to the Access database.

Tried running the Toolset, but nothing happens. Opening Task Manager, I see the Toolset running under the processes tab (not applications tab), but have no way of bringing Toolset to the foreground. I have no idea what else to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect the toolset won't work without SQL Server.

I'd look for help from Microsoft sites, since it's not really a Bioware problem.

Incidentally, be patient when launching the toolset. There is no splash screen, so for several seconds there's no sign of activity (other than what you can see in Task Manager).

I'm trying to install the toolset on my windows 7 PC but every time I get to the SQL part it seems to get stuck at "installing WMI registration". Can anyone offer me a solution for this problem? It doesn't give me an error, it just stops moving.
