...................... Funny thing is I really had a Paladin yesterday get 8947 points in a silver I was in.
I know this is a troll, but I have actually seen someone score under 10K pts on a Pali lol

Jedi support is pathetic and hypocritical.

Seriously, I am getting very tired of hearing from randoms that I am getting carried. I have basically been playing this game since launch and even though I am not one of the best players out there I know I am a very good player.

Thing is, I usually play support roles and I play them in a way that benefits the whole team and not just myself. I can hold my own in a game on bronze and silver (haven’t solo’d them yet but again, it’s a co-op game) and on gold (mostly Firebase White and Geth) we reach extraction at least 75% of the time.

Today I played a Platinum match for the first time using my Paladin, I got about 10 k in score (map and enemy were not random so that’s why my score was so low) but I contributed by blocking enemy shots with my shield and also reviving people a lot. After the match I was kicked and got a message that I suck and that I should go back to bronze!!! <_<

Did another match again after that and this time I used my Asari Justicar and got over 20 k in points, got kicked and got another message! Did one more match with Salarian Engineer and got around 20 k, was kicked and got a message!!!

What people need to understand is that score really doesn’t matter, I am a good player and I was helping the team a lot, I didn’t save on my consumables as “bad” players do but instead I used all of my medigels and ops packs in all of my games. I would say that it is all the other players that just can’t comprehend the meaning of co-op? If I am helping the team by playing a support role like that, how in hell can they say I am getting carried?! Can someone explain this to me because I sure as hell can’t understand how that could be the case

I am going to assume this is not a troll post, since I'm late to the conversation.  Some tips that i'm sure, inbetween the flames and trolling, people have already covered.

1.   Platinum requires a lot more activity and effort, being a paladin and blocking shots is a nifty "Trick" but you need more DPS (Score contribution) to help the effort go faster.   Yes you improved, but not nearly as high an improvement as you should have.   Even w/ shocky feature on your decoy you should have had more than 20k.   Justicar, should have more than 20k because you can pull off rapid BE's.

As much as you think you've contributed by playing support role, it is a role in this game that is unappreciated.

2.  Learn which jobs better suit your team dynamic, everyone wants to blow things up... An unless you're in a farming run.. Defense means very little to folks, its all about nuking things.   If you're going adept, make sure like I said above to be doing BE's to take down mooks.

3.  Weaponry, you didn't mention the weapons you brought to the table in your modified OP, so I'm going to assume you went light weapons on the classes you picked.    You want to pick weapons that can net you some decent DPS to keep with the pack.. You don't need to be #1, but 10k or 20k is telling you that you are playing wrong for that level of difficulty.  Change it up an try again.

4.  People are ****s, ignore the messages and try something new.. Its a learning process.

Your score does not get boosted if you choose Unknown/Unknown, only the exp at the end. Score remains the same. As for playing a support role and being carried, yeah, you were being carried. Score out the window I'm sure they would have survived just fine without a Paladin setting up his shield or the Justicar camping with a bubble or the Salarian tossing out that Decoy.

Hell, on platinum, if you used a predator, nothing else and had your decoy set to explode you'd get higher than a 20k score... You were carried. If one group of people tell you you were carried, whatever, it probably meant nothing. But when most people in this thread AND several people take the time to send you messages after kicking you.. Perhaps it is time to rethink your strategy for that higher difficulty
.

Any player at the bottom of the scoresheet is the one doing the carrying as they are holding everyone else up. This makes them the strongest player on the team.

Yes, I have had a lot of those players in my team as well, so they do exist! ^_^

I've grown to really, really, really, really, really hate the word "support" on these forums.

Why can't you offer "support" AND kill stuff?

Oh, and there's no such thing as a "support" class in ME3. There are "better" classes than others, but any class can be badass with the right build and weapon loadout.

Yes, but support is there to help the whole team while being a "badass" is a more selfish thing. It is not about score so a support class shouldn't need to worry about killing things in the first place!

if he was a Palidin and he was blocking shots, he gets no points.

Bioware needs to change that.

10k in a platinum? Yeah you were carried. Contrary to popular opinion: score does matter.

The support role is a lie. There is only damage output.

Through damage output I gain kills
Through kills I gain points
Through points I gain credits
Through credits, my packs are bought.

The DPS shall free me.

Though I do get in the top two score most games (meaning I don't have trouble getting points), I do agree with op, score doesn't necessarily matter. If you're playing, for instance, a quarian infiltrator set up to hack geth, you hardly get any score at all. But you also change geth to your team's side and they fight for you for like a minute. That's a big deal, not only are you taking away enemies, but adding allies.

As another example, I've been in matches where I've been so busy running around the map reviving all of my idiot squadmates that I haven't been able to throw out a single shot yet. The experience for 12 revives hardly makes up for the fact that I'm too busy to shoot anything. All of my squadmates are doing major damage, but I'm too busy reviving them so that they can keep going to do anything. So sure, I may not have had as many points as everyone else did at the end of the match, but without me there reviving them, they would have died by wave 3.

Some classes are built for taking down shields or barriers, but the damage output kind of stops there. I've had matches where I've taken down all of the shields or barriers of enemies, but my teammates take out the health and then get all of the points. It's called a support class. They don't get experience, but they do a lot of work.

Even today I was playing on gold, firebase dagger, against reapers. I was a geth infiltrator, set for taking out the health/armor. The asari who had been the support class (taking out barriers) and she went down, as did our destroyer. With me and a badly specced paladin left, yes, I had a hard time. Though the asari got barely any points, without her taking down the barriers, the paladin and I almost died... a lot....

The point is, even if you don't realize it, support classes are usually doing something that helps you majorly. You may think "Oh I just took out that banshee!" but chances are the barrier was mostly taken down by the asari standing on the other side of the map spamming warp on it.

As someone said earlier, being able to block shots with your shield is nice, but it only works in very very specific situations. you need to be able to help them take out a lot of shiz, not just be there to take their hits for them.

Op, my advice to you is to stick to gold for a bit and try to work on your kills. Though being a support class is helpful, when it comes down to you being the only one left alive, you're gonna want to be able to take a lot of stuff out yourself.

If you're having trouble reaching that damage output, check how you've speced your characters, ask around, see if there are better ways to spec them. I do agree with the main point of your topic, but in all seriousness, 20k is really low. So seriously, check your specs.
