Where's the proof of a decline?

You are kidding....right?

Not kidding. Has Bioware released statistics on this? I'm on PC and have not noticed an overall decline in players. But, I base that on how fast matches come up, which seems to be as fast as it was 6 month ago.

Bugs present since day 1 that have still not been fixed (Vanguard glitch, SMG ULM, Geth Hunters firing while disabled, Ops packs activating after you've died, etc.)
The horrible UR drop rate at the store, which makes people like me who have maxed out everything other than UR's frustrated beyond belief when we put so much time and effort into the game and just keep getting Lv 4 ammo\\Power Amplifiers over and over again
Broken enemy mechanics in game (stun-lock, insta-kills, anything Phantoms\\Geth being the biggest offenders)
Repetitive gameplay. 10-wave horde mode is fun, but you get tired of it so easily. Main reason why I'll only play in U\\U\\X (or at least U\\X\\X) lobbies more than once
Long, unnecessary loading times (store, DLC authorizing, etc.)
BW taking forever to release Commendation Packs for weekend ops, patches, balance changes, etc.

Just a few of my theories.

WIth that said though, ME3 multiplayer can still be loads of fun, and the problems could still be worse (BF3 anyone?)

When I'm still needing Uncommon and Rare Gear and getting the above I pretty much question why I'm still wasting my time on the game.

Yup. Mentioned the same thing.

For me, it has nothing to do with balance changes. The game modes are getting old and too repetitive. No new DLC as of yet means I'm already wearing out playstyles from the last DLC and so not playing as much for that reason as well. If new game modes, enemy factions and mission types come out, I'll be back eager for more. Until then, I'm now only playing a couple times a week compared to playing everyday before last weekends operation.

Repetition gets old real fast. It doesn't matter how many new weapons or characters are added, the game play still remains the same. New game modes, new enemies or vast improvements might help. The real problem is that the multi-player was made to be an addition to single player rather than a stand alone title that can compete with other big names. Coop campaign, Pvp and a vast variety of different modes of play is what makes a game worth playing for the long term. Hopefully Bioware will consider making a stand alone MP title in the future given its success.

Simple:
We have weapons, we have maps and we have characters.

Do you know what is missing?
More game modes.

This is what I find most important, posters here are posting a lot about wanting new enemies, we got untold kinds of enemies, what we don't have is a variety of game modes. I saw a youtube video where a few PC users came up with a Resident Evil style Husk mode, if they can do that locally on a PC how difficult can it be to add to a title update?

Very few options in which to customise a game, which was probably the idea from start to finish as there is only one leaderboard, no persistant stats page with which to track activity across various modes which they most likely didn't have the resources, money or the time to get the game out on whatever insane timetable EA set them.

Now, if they were not able to do a decent Leaderboard system for the games own longevity (instead replacing it with said pokemon like unlockables) I really wouldn't mind a custom game that was absolutely seperate from the N7 Leaderboards, but since what we have is pretty much set in stone dev wise right from the start I don't know if it would even be possible for them to add additional game modes even if they wanted to.

OP has a point but its more in the communcation. When people who are using something suddenly gets different results (ala the major nerfs) they could very well either blame it on bugs (and get more fustrated) or find out that it got nerfed which pisses off people (remembering that people do not like change they do not initiate themselves).

This however is just one of the reasons. A lot of the follow up posts in this thread all list down factors which impact the enjoyment of the game. Boredom, store fustration, glitches, poor network code compared to game X, etc

I started playing the MP 2-3 months after the game came out, no idea why it took me so long to get into it as I've played the SP in ME1, ME2 & ME3. So, I think for that reason the game is still interesting for me. However, I can understand why it has lost it's appeal for people playing since the demo & launch.

I played in hundreds of matches before I got worn out. I think most people will lose interest over time as new things pop onto their radar.

I still like the game as it is. I even don't have a problem with the store. But the long load times to even get into the main menu because of some double pass check, then multiplayer menu, the long seconds to access the store, and worse of all long connection times to the PROPER game of choice is taking its toll on me. If these waiting frustrations and the connection issues were improved, I will definitely enjoy logging into the game and playing it more.

This.
But I still keep playing, far less then 3 first months

I see the "decline" claim made repeatedly but I haven't seen anyone present evidence. How can you notice a decline? At any given time you have no idea how many people are actually playing. In Silver (and even Gold) I see lots of low N7 ratings with low ranked weapons, which indicates new players.

i saw a LOT of low n7 players this weekend , much more than usual

You stopped already?

Damn, and here I was wondering why you weren't up for more matches. Would have loved to play some with you (no dirty mind, please).

Time.

It does tend to pass by.

ME3 is in no way unique in terms of its player base shrinking over time. It happens.

The random aspect of the store makes me angry sometimes. Weapons characters and gear should be provided by N7 rank not by complete random. 1 to 500 for common. 500 to 1500 for uncommon. 1500 to 3000 for rares. 3000 and beyond for ultra rares. This would keep players playing for better gear. The N7 ranking means nothing. I saw a player with a N7 rank of 27 playing with a N7 Destroyer. I don't have the N7 Destroyer yet and my N7 rank is over 700. Fighting someone new would also be nice. It's time to unleash the Collectors, Blue Suns, Blood Pack and Eclipse on the unsuspecting multiplayer populace.

Bugs and fake difficulty(Banshee magnet hands) in addition to the troll store. ALso the lack of new gamemodes.

NO IT HAS TO BE DUE TO LIMITATIONS OF THE GAME!

I mean look at all the other games I've played for 6 months and I still continue to play them daily for hours at a time!

Wait that list is 0 items long.

My god I think this man is on to something!:wizard:

If you are still needing Uncommons you need to buy buying Veteran Packs and, on the upside, you'll find it pretty easy to max out your consumables at the same time :P

Ditto. Good call Grey.

The fact that people treat this as their only game.

Seriously. Mix it up and you wont get boored of this.

Boredom, frustration with store, bugs, etc, it's been out for like 6-7 months now, it's the fall which means lots of good games coming out.

I honestly think balance changes are low on the list for reasons of player decline.

1) Competition from other products/events (ie, the passage of time)
2) The MP is fun but repetitive
3) Bugs and Connection Issues
4) Frustrating Store
5) Balance Changes

I think when new MP DLC is released it brings some, but not a great deal, of players back to MP. Also, when the SP gets DLC, it'll probably get people interested in the MP again.

can't connect to ea server
disconnects
bugs
no fan made mods

I haven't been able to play MP for almost 2 days. That coupled with crummy ea customer service and you have players looking elsewhere.

True. I'm playing FF XIII-2 at the same time, which is probably why I'm enjoying ME3 MP still.

The fact that there hasn't been a patch in a while. Plus the first patch hasn't even fixed some of the glitches it was supposed to fix.

-The server issues and all the problems they entail; being forced to pug as a result of not being able to connect to friends. Lag. Disconnects. Ect.

-DLC Drought
-Bugs

I still play a game or two almost every day, but I find myself playing other games lately.
Convenience and quality of life improvements would be fatanstic but honestly shiney new DLC would probably be enough to have me crawling back lol. I think ME3's multipalyer still has alot to offer, it just needs some more attention.
