I think the real problem is that MP is too static. The same mode, against the same enemies, on the same maps. Sometimes a new map or class, but the interest for that only holds for a few days. It is a solid attempt at their first try at MP, but until they make it more robust people are more likely to go to more engaging alternatives.

That said, in terms of player base, it was never even in the same galaxy as the big military shooters. So, when a relatively small player base shrinks over time, we will eventually see a drop off in players.

Let's be realistic, there can be plenty of reasons :
- People leaving because they are frustrated by the RNG store
- People leaving because they are frustrated by bugs
- People leaving because they are frustrated by connection problems
- People leaving because they are frustrated by the game being too easy
- People leaving because they are frustrated by the game being too hard and by nerfs
- People leaving because we're currently waiting for a DLC and there has been nothing new for a while
But above all that the most common reason is probably that some people get bored of the game, after all it can be fairly repetitive especially if you play farming setups mostly (which seem very appealing due to the nature of the store but are more like a poisonous candy in terms of fun in my opinion).
Aside from that there will always be people like me who can cope with all the above mentioned reasons and still enjoy the game, although playing it less often than before.
Anyway the player base dwindling is a common phenomenon for any game and there can be multiple reasons for people leaving. I don't know why people feel obliged to say "this is the reason why people leave" and "this will bring the end of the game soon", just because they want to feel like they were right to stop playing.

I see the "decline" claim made repeatedly but I haven't seen anyone present evidence. How can you notice a decline? At any given time you have no idea how many people are actually playing. In Silver (and even Gold) I see lots of low N7 ratings with low ranked weapons, which indicates new players.
played a pug this last weekend, three players at 52, or below.

There won't be a decline in good players ever again like there will be in the next week.
Pretty much this. One heavy-handed moderation has done what tons of game-breaking bugs, glitchers, cheaters, and repetitive gameplay couldn't - remove ME3 from my Xbox.

Well said, I will be deleting my account here very soon. Likely trading in this game, for what it is barely worth, for something new. Probably Borderlands 2. See you on our new site Wyld ( and everyone else from AreleX ).
