Just started another play through with another Shep who's a Vanguard. Does the melee based armor help out or should I look for more Biotic armor instead? I know it's a lame question, but thought I'd ask anyway!

How often do you use heavy melee? If your answer is anything less than "quite often" I'd say you should stick with Power Damage/Power Recharge (or Weapon Damage) armor.
Most Vanguards just Charge+Nova all the time, meaning Power Damage/Power Recharge makes the most sense.

Serrice Council stuff looks decent anyway, so it goes with my criteria.
