 Why can't Mass Effect players on PS3 have ME 1?

Because ME1 was published by Microsoft Studios. A lowblow for PS-gamers, but that's the problem.

Mass Effect 1 was re-published by EA on the PC. So EA should have the rights to bring it to PS3

As said above me, Microsoft won't let Sony publish it. Hell it encourages people to go on XBOX just to play en entire trilogy (worth it), compared to the PS3 (2 games) and now Wii U (1 game. Wow).

Bioware could probably remake ME1 and release it on PS3. Like what happened with Ninja Gaiden 2. But Bioware probably rather make new games.

If it runs anything like the demo did on my PS3 they can keep it. It was close to unplayable. So in other words, no point.

The only option for PS3 players is to play Mass Effect Genesis, which from what I hear only covers part of the Mass Effect story with some planets completely omitted.

Now, one thing that I wish could have happened, if they had done a special edition of Mass Effect, with updated graphics, and especially voice overs.

The quality of the voice overs went up by an insane margin between 1 and 3.

Ha, this isn't something to be worry about, imagine if BioWare never left MS, whole trilogy only on PC's and xbox 360.

It was co-published with MS. MS owns the publishing rights to ME1 while EA owns the rights to the franchise.

realistically ps3 users were lucky that the series was introduced to them at all, looking at series was always what determined which console to get. whether you could play sonic, halo, gran turismo, etc was dependent on console but now they release most games for both

It's the console publishing rights that Microsoft have and that is why the game could be published on PC.

Console exclusives never seem to take the PC into account. So at the moment Microsoft can advertise that the 360 is the only place to get the full Mass Effect experience.
