Anyone?

(and I mean without accepting an ancient flawed homocidal AI's options for doing so)

Said flawed AI has control of Earth and could wipe you out so easily that they could eat a club sandwich at the same time. So you kind of have to negotiate with it because you can't beat it otherwise.

That's like someone asking to beat Ocarina of Time without having to deal with Ganon trying to kill you and having all the Triforce pieces. It's something intrinsic to the story and game.

And the options are not the AIs; they're the Crucible's designers', whoever they are (not the Catalyst, not Leviathan, as the Catalyst says "you wouldnt know them").

Edit: Should clarify that I meant Ganon was BOTH trying to kill you AND get all the Triforce pieces. If that matters.

He obviously could not destroy Shepard. He is very incompetent for a Reaper God.

Anything is possible if the writers make it so.

He could've, but he saved Shepard so that Shepard could activate the Crucible.

Catalyst: wants a "solution" and sees the Crucible has better "solutions" so wants to activate the Crucible

Shepard: wants to end the Reaper threat so wants to activate the Crucible

Both: Want to activate the Crucible (for different reasons)

It would be very easy for the Reapers to wipe everyone out without the Crucible. Shepard could've just been left to bleed out.

I'm not even going to try to argue with someone who's got "Why the Catalyst's Logis is Right" in their signature, you're obviously indoctrinated or differ very much from me when it comes to taste in good story telling.

Short version: 1. Having to agree and cooperate with (from an organic's point of view) the AI Space Devil sucks.
2. Writing should have allowed for other ways to defeat the Reapers, as it is is just BAD WRITING

Yeah, this was the Reapers' role throughout the trilogy. They were so powerful that they wipe out every civilization for the past billion years.

Ironically, Saren realized this in ME1 and tried to negotiate the same way you're talking about.

However, Shepard was about conquering the odds and confronting a powerful villain with a united galaxy. To introduce 'Ganon' and in the last 5 minutes of the Zelda series and say 'I'm too powerful after all, agree with my choices or die' isn't the smartest or logical way to end such a story.

I'm still waiting for the real ME3.

I know Bioware was just trolling us with a fake version earlier this year.

Haha, very funny Bioware. Now bring out the real game already.

It would have to be trolling, right?

Do you really want it back? I mean, let's face it. The planet is more than gently used, even before the Reapers showed up and started pooping fire and zombies all over it.

Let's just call it a mulligan and head off to Eden Prime.

My canon Shep is a spacer and don't really care personally, but it is important as a symbol for humanity and in this thread I am also using it as a symbol for the endings we never got.
