As the OP said, he wants to avoid Kaidan hitting on him. While some people may say "Who cares?" if that breaks his immersion who am I to judge? Most straight guys I know aren't homophobic, but still would be uncomfortable with their male friend hitting on them.

No no can't do that. Must whine that the option is there despite the big bold letters saying "Uh...I WANNA BE FRIENDS."

I feel like the problem is that the gay option exists in the first place. Straight males have games cater to them all their life. Some just feel a sense of entitlement, I guess. Don't give him the wine, kill him, lock-in a romance with someone else, or even just reject him. There are many ways to avoid the romance with him. It's not like people are forced to romance him. It's not possible to get ninja-romance in 3 unless you have been oblivious to the LI's advances.

Not uncomfortable in real life, but in the context of the game it's just...weird. Kaidan has never, at any time, shown interest in Shepard yet suddenly he's flirting and trying to get into Shep's pants. I have no problem at all with Cortez, but with Kaidan's sudden sexuality change which to my Shepard is bizarre.

Kaidan could just be uncomfortable with Shep during the first game while opening up more in the last one since they get to know each other more. He's bisexual, so he could just not know maleshep well enough to hit on him. It takes a lot more effort for a bisexual guy to hit on another guy as opposed to a girl.

As a disclaimer, I'm not bothered by M/M romances, but my Shepard is straight and finds it odd that his friend is now hitting on him. I'd prefer to keep Kaidan around rather than Ash, but I'm wondering how to permanently 'friendzone' Kaidan so it doesn't come up? (no pun intended)

Especially when it's Kaiden. My FemShep just tries to be friendly with him in ME1 and he ninjamances her.
