Can 75 perfect scores really be wrong?

Yes.

Would you still be on the forums if this game was just a steaming pile of crap? no, you owulda moved on by now.

Being good or bad is not a requisite for being on an online forum for discussion of a game.

that statement would only be true if people weren't so childish about it.

most of the time it isnt a discussion, its a flame war, it's much different.

For me, Dragon Age: Origins is one of the best modern RPG's. It was the Peak of Bioware's products and sadly everything Bioware made since has been "meh" at best.

no, there were too many flaws other than the endings. glitches, fetch quests, auto dialogue, and the ending was atrocious.

skyrim was glitchy, ME2 was glitchy, it happens in a huge game like this, to say they ruin the game is being close minded and letting your anger get in the way.

as one of the few people who can say this with pride, i agree with you..... atleast 80% of it was great, the voice acting almost brought me to tears sometimes well on my first play through anyway, the only one that still gets to me is thessia, the geth-quarian war was a great part of the game i think they did that admirably, the way the game started aswell was great, the relationship progression with your squad mates was good aswell much more emotion this time around makes you feel more part of the game... the darker parts of the game were done well and the combat sequences of the game were alot more fluent and enjoyable to do. There is a ton more but yeah those were my favourites

i have my own reservations about the game itself i know they could of done a lot better but im thankful i played it more than once, at first im was so annoyed with the endings and how the auto-dialogue the quests and the decision making was heavily flawed however it is still a great game overall, maybe not as good as it should of been or could of been but still a great game, i wouldn't call it the best game ever made because of the flaws it has but to be honest i still enjoy playing it only my 5th run through currently :)

Dat ending
Priority Earth sucking
"Take back Earth" Orly?
Auto-dialogue
Tali's face
Previous games choices not mattering
Lack of Harbinger
Lack of squadmates
Lack of missions
Lack of content to certain LI's
Lack of content dealing with previous squadmates
Planetscan missions in place of actual content
1 mission hub
Diana Allers
Crap journal
Missing dialogue options
Day 1 DLC
Can't holster your weapons
Stupid bugs
Basically forced multiplayer

I could go on for much longer but you get the point...all these things and more are why ME3 is not only not one of the best games ever it barely gets into passable territory when compared to the previous 2 games.

Wouldn't call it one of the best games EVER made, but it certainly is better than 90% of the utter crap that gets released. It had it's flaws, but overall it was still great IMO. Will easily make my Top 10 for 2012.

If it improved on the gameplay of ME2 as a whole it would be, but for every step forward there was also a step back. So not one of the best, not one of the worst, but certainly doesn't live up to it's predecessor, and far too many short-comings

It's definetely up there in terms of quality.  It's certainly one of my favorite games, and objectively, it's got a lot going for it.  Excellent voice-acting, near perfect combat system, engaging narrative, good music, great graphics, three dimensional characters, etc.

It was definitely not a 10/10 -- that was heavily padded. More like a 7/10 with the multi-player. The single player campaign alone? 6/10. It's the weakest of the series on initial release. It could have been the best.

No. With an appropriate ending of proper quality, it might have made it, but it'd be a close call--it's quite great, but there are a LOT of utterly fantastic RPGs out there. But the ending is still one of the most terrible ever conceived, and so it is not even a contender.

I keep hearing about 75 perfect scores, but who gave these perfect scores? Anyone know? As I'm genuinely curious about this statement.

I know that ME3 scored well in nearly, if not all the reviews I've read, but never have I come across a perfect i.e. 10/10 score.

Also, ME3 is for me a very much the weak link in the trilogy and no more than a 7/10 IMO, but to each their own.

Game Informer was one of the publications to give it a perfect 10.

Before you go ahead and bash them for being a mainstream publication, you should know they rarely ever give out perfect scores....

They've only given out 2 in the last year, and ME3 was one of them

2 in a year?  Far too many.  A 10/10 means that it is perfect, needs nothing changed and could not be better.  Mass Effect 3 was not perfect- even if you ignore the endings.  The auto dialogue, poorly photoshopped Tali face, lack of things for certain love interests, forced multiplayer, the list goes on and on.  Mass Effect was NOT a 10/10.  It deserves MAYBE a 7/10.  Mass Effect 3 was a mediocre ending to an otherwise amazing franchise.  Not to mention that Gameinformer reviews are usually bought.  Ever noticed how MW3 got a 10/10 review too?  And MW2?  THE REVIEWS ARE PURCHASED.  They have 2 or so perfect 10 reviews a year because only 2 or so publishers are willing to buy it.  Don't follow Gameinformer.  Go to user reviews on youtube, or to the Escapist Magazine and get the review from Yahtzee.  But not Gameinformer.  Never them.

What a load of tripe. The endings were the least of ME3's problems. It was still an awful game, even if you completely ignore them. ME3 is nowhere even remotely CLOSE to being one of the best games ever made... hell, it's not even close to being BioWare's best game, and it's by far the worst of the trilogy.

ME3 was a pathetic, rushed, half-assed and misfocused piece of garbage that lived up to pretty much none of the promises.

ME2 defiantly kicks the crap out of ME3. I can go back and play ME2 at any time, but with ME3 I just can't get back into it... That's kinda how I judge games.

First of all, saying what the best games ever are is completely subjective.

With that said, in response to your question: NOT EVEN CLOSE.

You need to play some actually bad games. Then you will see that ME3 is far from being a piece of garbage.

And Mass Effect 1 is the weakest of the trilogy. Barren exploration, bad gameplay, clunky and overloaded weapons/armor management, and the majority of the story having no significance to either character development or main plot development.

No. ME3's ending destroys and invalidates everything that happens not just in ME3, but in ME2, and ME1. ME3 was a great game for 98% of it. But that ending. Oof.

No. No game of the year. No yearly bonuses. Fix the ending properly and we'll talk.

Heck, I can't even bring myself to play through Leviathan because of the ending. It just doesn't matter. No DLC will. Chris Priestly flat out says "no further ending dlcs ever" and I believe him. So that pretty much makes me pass on every DLC as a consequence. Why buy something I won't play?

I've been playing video games for almost 30 years. I think I've played enough games to judge the good from the bad, thank you very much.

And Mass Effect 1 is the weakest of the trilogy. Barren exploration, bad gameplay, clunky and overloaded weapons/armor management, and the majority of the story having no significance to either character development or main plot development.

Disagree on all counts. ME1 is the strongest, the planet exploration was largely good, the gameplay had more to it and was more original than ME3's, the inventory was admittedly flawed but at least had more to it than just guns and armour, and most of the main story did have significance to the plot given that the plot was actually to chase down Saren and find out what was going on with him, The Geth, Sovereign, the Prothean beacon, etc. and the whole Reapers thing was purposefully kept a mystery until the latter parts of the game. Beyond that, ME1 at least understood what sidequests were and realised that not everything has to revolve around the one thing.

I will admit that Mass Effect 3 was mostly garbage because it was Mass Effect 3. It's more of a horrible sequel and final chapter than it is a horrible game, but things like the lack of dialogue choices, the autodialogue, the on-the-rails linearity of the narrative, the pathetic lazy sidequests that are either weak fetch-quests or repurposed MP maps with a tacked-on story, the clumsy Journal and the pretty much entire focus on combat don't help.

Did ME3 do everything wrong? No. Did it do some things better than its predecessors? Yes.

But did it get more things right than it got things wrong? Heeeelllll no!

Mass Effect 1 may have understood what sidequests were. Unfortunately, it had absolutely no clue what good sidequests are actually composed of. Imo, ME1's efforts were laughable in comparison to KotOR and Jade Empire in terms of both content and structure.
