ME3... Is it one of the best games ever made?

Red Dead Redemption
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Metal Gear Solid (PS1)
The Witcher 2
Resident Evil 2 (PS1)
Okami
Kingdom Hearts 2
Warcraft 3
Half-Life
Knights of the Old Republic
and those are just the ones off the top of my head. ME 3 is a good game, but it will always have the "but" factor tied to it because of the endings and the controversies surrounding it. It will probably be more known for the fallout about the endings then anything else.

That's all very well, but a game should stick to what it's trying to be or do. It should remain faithful to its original vision, style and source material. It shouldn't change these things and become something else just for the sake of broad appeal and pandering to those who want something else entirely.
That isn't how I see some of the changes. For me, getting away from loot, sidequests, and nonlinearity makes the game a better RPG. The CRPG genre is defective, and has been almost from the beginning. I'm just sorry they didn't get rid of credits while they were at it -- needing cash makes sense in some gameworlds, but hasn't the Alliance ever heard of expense accounts?
No... the CRPG genre is not defective. If it is, it's because of all the watering-down that's been happening to them lately with the likes of ME2 and ME3, DA2, etc. actually.
I've had this conversation with you before, Alan: the CRPG genre is not defective, it's just that you want it to change. What you want are story-driven action games, not RPGs. You want the roleplaying, narrative, characters and choices, but you don't want the mechanical side of things to be so strong. It looks like you're in luck with the way BioWare is heading, because they don't want to make RPGs any more and keep drifting closer and closer to story-driven action games. Or, at leas you would be if the roleplaying side of things wasn't suffering so much too.
Getting rid of loot and sidequests doesn't make it a better RPG, it just makes it a better game for you. Non-linearity is the exception here, though BioWare's later games such as DA2 and ME3 have been the most linear of the bunch, especially ME3. I find it ironic too that you'd prefer no sidequests, since sidequests are one of the factors that stop a game from being so linear and give a player more options and freedom, as well as diverting the focus away from the main story and making the world seem more real. When everybody and everything revolves around the main plot entirely, it makes the setting feel linear, one-dimensional, small and overall fake. For example, if everything in ME2 had revolved around The Collectors, including all the loyalty quests, it would have seemed forced, tedious and made the game completely one-dimensional.

No. ME2 was better.
And so was ME1, if you leave aside the graphics - which were good for the time, don't get me wrong.

welp i was expecting that, lol ridicule happens when you disagree with the masses
Well, the masses think you should then keep your opinion for yourself if you don't like to be refuted...
You sir, are a troll, because there is so much controvesy on this game that your post feel like a provocation...

ME2 may have been one of the best games ever made, but even that game isn't the best. Best classic game ever made = Blackthorne. Best game ever made, I don't know.... I love Tales of Vesperia, Doom and Doom 2, and the Witcher 2. Diablo 2 was amazing and so was Final Fantasy 7. Oblivion, of course also. There are so many great games out there, it is a crime to choose just one. Shenmue and Shenmue 2 are one of my favorites.
Yeah, I'd have to give the ME trilogy, ending up being ME4, a B+. Given the fact that most of it was interactive and did strive to actually make ingame decision differential. Other games, RGP's, didn't have that effect on me. Very good, but different, in that/those repects.
BioWareEA did try and came through on that pretty well. I wonder if they'll put more effort into it with other games, as they've said this one is pretty much on the way off the video game radar..(but that doesn't mean much in Sci Fi.. nobody EVER dies..they just trasmutate for future reference... lol)

Better games I played just this year: The Walking Dead, The Witcher 2 on Xbox, Spec Ops The Line, Darksiders 2 and probably Dishonored, Borderlands 2, Assassin's Creed 3 and Hitman Absolution.

I found ME3 to have really boring parts. Also bad writing, too much action and Effin fetch-quests were really pissing me off.
Also: NO ELCOR SOLDIERS!
