Thank God they added the option to hide hats.
But on the flip side at least the other mage outfits tend to look cool.

I can't believe that Aveline is the only person in all of Thedas that wears headbands.
MAGIC HEADBANDS, Bioware.
Ah yes, circlets! I do love a good circlet. After all, that flimsy fabric isn't going to protect a mage anyway. Might as well infuse some powers into a cool circlet. I will always hide helmets. I'm so glad we have the capability to hide helmets. Really annoying in the past when the entire HEAD would be covered. Can't really connect to a character if all you see is a tin head. I know it's not really practical, but that's one compromise I make in gaming. I want to see their heads. So if mages got circlets or something unobtrusive, I'd be happy to let them sport it.
And while we're at it, continue to try to spiff up mage robes. It always seems that mage gear is seen as an afterthought. But robes could be made pretty cool I think. I do like robes and don't want them to wear armor.

I'd love to see chapeaus. My Red Mages in Final Fantasy 11 looked awesome in their "pimp hat".
I didn't mind the mage Champion hood, though that was one of the few exceptions for mage headgear. Headbands/circlets would be a nice addition.

I am not sure I mind the head pieces too much. Sure, past examples were not pretty, conventionally, but the Thedian milliners certainly created interesting designs
.
If we are to go to Orlais, hopefully the country of pomp/haughtiness will produce something more elegant.

I wonder if the duke fell from grace because he didn't keep up with Orlesian fashion?
