Looking forward to unlocking it despite the negative feedback. You always read bull**** about fair weapons on here.

If the damage increase is the only change to MP, then bull**** about it is actually pretty fair.

At level 10, it's damage is 164.8, if you mess about with the DPS of the old one and factor in the new damage per bullet (simply divide by the old damage, then multiply in the new damage) you find that its DPS is 555.5, and when reload speed is a factor that number drops to 378.9, and if reload-cancelled perfectly, that will go to 457.8

So it has 457.8 damage when fired at max RPM, with all shots hitting, and the reload is done perfectly. If compared to the M-76 Revenant, which is the other rare basic assault rifle with similar problems (recoil and inaccuracy):

Revenant has 871.3 DPS, when reloads are accounted for, that drops to 571.5 and when reload cancelled perfectly that moves up to 680.2.

That means that the Revenant has around 50 percent more damage than the Argus, has less of a problem with recoil but pays for it in inaccuracy. Overall, the actual damage of the Argus is just too low to make that bonus accuracy a fair price for all that damage loss. The Revenant is a much better overall weapon, the Argus just doesn't have enough power.

Personally, I'd say up the power a bit, decrease the recoil and/or increase the Rate of Fire, but something needs to be done to make it fit the bill.

In case you feel that the Revenant is a bad comparison, take a look at the Vindicator:

Vindicator does 751 DPS basic, when reloads are factored, that becomes 443.9 and reload-cancelled, that's 478.6

The Vindicator around the same damage overall, and can be given AP capability to compensate for the loss in armor effectiveness due to weaker individual shots. It's also lighter, easier to upgrade and doesn't require a Recoil Dampener to be effective, freeing up the spare slot for bonus damage in the form of a barrel mod, basically giving it an extra 25% damage and meaning that it WILL in fact, have more power than it's heavier, slower-firing, high-recoil alternative. It's barely on the same playing field as a (not overpowered) uncommon weapon.

so much for exclusive pre-order

the more guns the more fun

It's exclusive in single player. Saying this as an Argus owner.

Probably a late post but it is also no longer "exclusive" in single player.  It's part of either Levithan or the firefight pack, probably the firefight pack.

Heh. B)

It's not really a great weapon, and could use a bit of a buff.

Got it up to five in three packs. I hate getting lvl IV ammo... but I would rather have that than the
P.O.S Argus.

Tried the Argus X on u/u/g with my demolisher. It actually killed stuff. Equipped stabilizer + EB, warfighter gear, AP, AR rails, stabilizer armor.

Heavy as hell, but fired out of cover it's a nice mid-tier weapon. I liked it in SP.

I stopped buying PSPs for the same reason - once all your Rare's are maxed, it just dishes out two lvl 4 ammo (even though I still have variety of rare gear missing...), which by item count, is a waste of credits.

Bought a bunch of PSPs last night to get the Argus to lvl 10, seemed to drop pretty reliably (instead of too much lvl 4 ammo) which was nice. Initially I tried buying regular SPs, but kept landing 250K character experience cards, I thought they were removed also?? What's up with that? On the plus side, buying a bunch of PSPs also dropped me 3 UR cards as well, which was a bonus.

There needs to be a pack just aimed at a larger qty of lvl 3 gear. Jumbo is close, but if you have equiment max'd, it drops lvl 1 gear (1 x lvl 1 gear instead of 5 x equipment - ARE YOU SERIOUS???). I just need some way to drop more of the gear I actually use. I'm racking up tons of gear I just don't use, I wish it would max out so that the gear I actually use would drop in its place.

I spend about 700,000 credit yesterday to get this weapon at level X. Try it on gold with a Krogan. Ohh, it was embarrassing. After a few wave my krogan just grab this weapon other end and smash the enemies with it. Melee all the thing!!! I still was the last in the line, but actually I managed to kill a few enemy.

But I got two UR in the buying process, so I was very satisfied. Level VI Pladin and a brand new Typhoon!

I have to say the Typhoon alone worth the 700,000. Credit well spend.... (yeah, sure not because of the Argus)

I agree with this.  The first time I tried it, I didn't have any mods on (that's usually what I do with a gun the first time, just to see where it stands) and it felt horrific. It was kicking everywhere and not doing any damage at all.  However with Stabilizers (equipment and attachment) it actually felt really powerful and it was dead accurate.  Overload + one burst to the head killed just about everything below phantoms on Gold, and the damage to atlases was notable as well.

That being said, the refire delay needs to be lowered considerably if not completely removed.  The burst rate is fine considering the damage each bullet does, but the time in between bursts is just excessive.  That's what makes the gun feel clunky.  I'm sure on a class that  boosts fire rate it would feel fine, but much like every weapon argument, you can't base the usefulness on using one or two classes.

In short, the damage is fine, but remove the refire delay and perhaps tone down the kick a bit, and it's a fine gun.

I just tried it on my TSol. Brought it into a SILVER match because I was expecting it to be a steaming turd after reading the forums.

Yes. SILVER.

The steaming turd called the M-55 Argus X did not disappoint. As another poster said, "The Argus is a great weapon for those who have yet to unlock the Avenger I!"

Then it'll stop being an Argus.

I prefer a large damage increase. Job done. Argus viable in Gold.

In two days I got the Argus up to level III buying SPs.

A friend tried one yesterday and said it was O.K. I haven't tried it as it's too heavy for my tastes.

I wish I would have gotten items I want instead...

I've got it at lvl III as well. It feels like the lovechild of the Vindicator and Saber, which is good. The recoild is can be corrected manually; it's feasible to land 2-3 headshots per burst. However, DPS seems to be lacking though, at least at these lower levels. Headshots are absolutely key with this gun.
