The only problem is we have to wait 2 years or so for it to come out. But yey to CRPGs coming back.

A year and a half. That's about the minimum I would expect for the development of an RPG. Any less would be bad!

This project is exactly what I've been wanting for years.

I just put my money where my mouth is.

I'm not saying a long dev cycle's a bad thing for the game, it's just the wait will be hard to deal with.

Of course. The waits been pretty bad with Wasteland 2. I was obsessively checking the KickStarter page for a week when it first launched.

Speaking of obsessive, the Obsidian forums are getting hammered really badly. I can't load them up.

Allready pledged 65 $ (plus 15 for international shipping). I'm so happy about this happening! That's exactly the game I wanted to play since... well, forever!

Will pledge more if the KS needs my help or if the stretch goals are interesting. So... I will up my pledge most probably :).

With this, Broken Sword and all the money I've put in to Dead State I'm spending all the money I've saved thanks to Steam Sales in the last years... well, it's a fair deal :).

THIS i hope... will be the real spiritual successor of BG series; which DA:O tried, and DA2 didn't even try to accomplish. This could be you bioware... instead you streamlining your games to be more shooting over talking (ME3..well 2 too), more "awesome", more dlcs, more "awesome intense fights" (DA2). Blah - just sad about that.

NOT TURN BASED????? Why does this even need a Kickstarter?

Dude who cares if its not turn based?
ITS OBSIDIAN.

As in some of the best RPG makers around, and some of the most experienced one.
Hell I will put some money down too for this.

Turn-based all the time(inside and outside combat) ala Ultima 4, 5, and 6 is awesome. Otherwise, I'm a real-time with pause man myself. I'm glad Obsidian decided to go with RTwP.

BG, IWD and PS:T are turn based. Those games can be played in real time but the actions are measured in turns. That's why pausing never break the flow of the combat: the actions are syncronized and it's easy to get the rythim of pause/play. Brent Knowles himself defined the combat "semi turn-based" in his blog.

In pure real-time games like DA:O or DA2, the actions are not syncronized by turns and the pause function never actually fits the gameplay. It becomes just an excuse for bad gameplay design, a compromise that does not make anyone happy.

For me, P&P remains the best of both worlds. Yes, I'm starving for a TRUE spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate too.

Indeed Federico, but you don't really plan out one turn at a time. You just say what you want to do, and then it happens until you give a new order.

For a true mix, Jagged Alliance 2 is very explicitly turn-based in combat, but outside of it it is real-time.

This is the type of effort that has to be supported if we want better games. Big publishers are not going to support us; that is one thing that has become painfully clear. It's wonderful to be able to go straight to the source, where the empty suits have abandoned. Glad to put my money where my mouth is.

This makes two I've gone all in for thus far. First WL2 and now PE.

They've just gone over $300 K already BTW. Tell your friends!

Pledged. The fact that they've raised over $300000 so quickly surprised me to say the least. Must be a huge demand for these types of games still.
