It would kill the spirit/theme behind the project anyway. None of the games they cited, hailed and promised to be influenced by had a NWNish camera.

What they could do is the type of camera that Wasteland 2 is going to have. Standard isometric but you can zoom in and out a little bit.   It would still feel like the old time games but  it'd be a marked improvement to the totally-locked-and-totally-unadjustable top down viewpoint that the infinity engines had.

Eh, I rarely get hit with bad bugs in almost any game I play.  Hard to take my own perspectives and apply it wholesale to the project.

Sorry...I just had to quote you here because it tickled me a little bit...you're a QA guy who plays buggy games for a living, I can't imagine what that must be like when you play games for fun...you must drive yourself insane sometimes.^_^

Hah! I was worried about that but I am pretty good at just enjoying a game for what it offers.

THIS is the best thing i have heard in years O.O
THIS is a 100% buy.

I´m not really a fan of kickstarter to say the least. However if this makes it happen, hell yeah...soo buying it so hyped for it...finally something i want to play.

Honestly i want this to be a success...and i really believe it will be..not in the terms of "oh we sold (ha lie we shiped!) x million in the first weekend" but they don´t need to. this could be really something good....and god i like the guys...**** consoles you are right..make it for pc ^.^

Well done, this could turn out to be a gold cow for them. And not like most AAA title these days in the first weekend but in the long turn. Soooo looking forward to this...the people working on this reads like a p*rn for rpg gamers. o.O

Great idea indeed. And seems like they are going to meet and surpass their goal easily. I'll contribute in the next day or so. Just have to decide what price to contribute.

A quick update from the kickstarter comments section.

1. Apparently they are looking at bringing another writer onto the project.
2. They are hoping to update the stretch goals in the next day or two.
3. They will be releasing futher updates (in addition to the stretch goals) throughout the week.
4. There has been a discussion of how they want to handle romances but they aren't willing to say more at this point.  Personally I wouldn't take this as a confirmation of romances being included in the project.
5. They are using a static camera and investigating zoom options.

I think that's about it for now.

Metacritic is hardly perfect, but it takes the media review scores, not the user review scores.  So the odds of there being a "duuh, lets all gives this game 0" is significantly less.

Though my problem with metacritic is that there are some sites that are clearly joke sites that get included in the media review aggregate.  "This game is so bad, it wraps around.  10/10!"

What really is terrible is they lost their bonus by just ONE point. Looking at a lot of the reviews you clearly see that they all well hate how buggy it was but then again the QA was handled by Bethesda. Bethesda indirectly led to them getting a lower metacritic score.

That really annoys me. Fallout 3 is literally unplayable for me on the PC while New Vegas runs fine. Unbelivable.

Legion, I had the same problem with FO3.  I couldn't play 5 minutes without a freeze-up.  It really was an unfun and frustrating thing for me to go through since I had a couple of 360 playthroughs and FO3 was one of the reasons I got a Steam account in the first place, and started to play on PC again.

Not saying it'll be your problem, but mine was a multi-core processing issue (I was playing on an Intel Core i7) and evidently after Bethesda released patch 1.1, this became a real issue.  A few tweaks in the ini files and it was fixed.  You can google it, and the fix is easy enough a goon like me could repair it.

My game crashes on start up but I'll check it out. Thanks.

"@Steven We were actually contacted by some publishers over the last few
months that wanted to use us to do a Kickstarter. I said to them "So,
you want us to do a Kickstarter for, using our name, we then get the

then don't get to keep the brand we make and we only get a portion of
the profits" They said, "Yes"."

Same here. I always hear these horror stories about unplayable games, but I virtually never encounter these problems. Well, except for Temple of Elemental Evil. That really was unplayable for me.

George Ziets. He was the writer on Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer iirc. And imo he would be a great addition. I loved the writing in MotB, for the most part.

Update #4 - Digital Tiers, DRM, and Add-Ons Update

Well you all did it, you helped us get to $1.6M and we now have a Mac version and are adding more story into the world.

We have also been listening and reading your feedback on Kickstarter and have some changes that are happening as soon as this update is posted. One thing, we are not updating just yet are the stretch goals, but don’t worry those are going to get updated very soon. Oh, and we are putting a schedule together for updates that will include guest stars almost every day – Josh will be talking more about the design tomorrow (Sep 19), our unflappable CTO Chris Jones (architect of the Fallout and Arcanum engines) on Friday (Sep 20), and I think we will be able to squeeze one in from Mr. Tim Cain over the weekend.

So, what are those changes?!?
DRM Free Option

You asked and we are delivering. In conjunction with GOG, we are going to offer a DRM free version of the game for our Kickstarter Backers. When the campaign ends, you will be able to choose whether you would like a key from GOG or Steam. For our Mac friends, we are still working on a DRM free option, since GOG does not currently support the Mac. Oh, and the great guys at GOG are having a special right now on all of the great Infinity Engine games, so check that out as well.
New Digital Tiers

We are adding a $50 and an $80 digital tier. The $50 tier will get you the digital version of the game, the soundtrack, the digital version of the Collector’s Book, a collection of wallpapers made for multiple resolutions and multiple monitors, high resolution concept art, a high resolution version of the map, and ringtones. For the $80 tier, you will get all of that plus a digital copy of the strategy guide, and a second digital download of the game.
Add-Ons

This is a short list for right now, but we will be adding more as the days pass including some pretty swank Obsidian-wear.

Add a Digital Download of the Game +$25

Add Three Digital Downloads of the Game +$60

As a quick tutorial on how to add add-ons, goto the Project Eternity site on Kickstarter and then hit the Manage Your Pledge button. The reward tier you had already selected will still be selected and the amount will be in the big box at the top. All you need to do is add the dollar amount that covers the add-ons you would like to your pledge and enter the new total number. For instance, if you are at the $35 Pledge level and want to add one Digital Download, you would enter $60 as your total pledge.
New for our Collector's Edition Box Level ($140)

Lastly we want to announce that we are going to give our backers at the Collector’s Edition Box Level ($140) a little extra today and that is Beta access to the game! That’s just a little taste of what we will be adding into tiers in the coming days and weeks through stretch goals and the occasional random act.

Weird that GOG doesn't support Mac. It's not like they have a Steam client that requires you to install the game from it. Can't they just offer a download?

Oh well, I play on Windows so it's not important to me. Time to up my pledge.

Maybe there is a bit more with "Mac" support than just selling games that support it. Also, GOG games use GOG installer, that will require a Mac version.

Nice- glad I'm already in for $140. Now maybe they'll find a way to persuade me to up my pledge to $250...

Awesome that they've got GOG on board too. Makes a lot of sense.
