The thing that makes me excited is to think that even Watcher's Keep, which is one of my favorte huge dungeon crawls, was only 6 levels. The Endless Paths will be 13, probably 14 levels.

I concur, I was watching till 2AM solely to see him getting more drunk with each shot...would love to went out with him ...true partyman :) ...but Josh seemed a bit tired/sad for some reason

They have been working really hard for the past few months on this KickStarter, and Josh isn't a drinking person. It's not surprising that he would be tired at this point.

All that hard work sure paid off. They won't actually add 4 million to the coffers because of KickStarter's cut, but it'll be very close to 4 million.

I get that he has been working hard but so was others...I assume that it was due to that he is simply not that social when it comes to stress relieving. I am similar when it comes to this so I do understand that. However people like Avellone can get me pumped :-)

I pledged this project in an instant when they announced it :) Josh and other obsidian guys really deserve this for all their hard work. I even followed the last hours final countdown (btw it was hilarious seeing them singing the song near the end(. I felt so happy watching obsidian celebrating their well earned success. Sticking to fans pays in the long run :)

For a long time I belived this genre was dead. I never unnderstood why devs stopped making those type of games. Its not like people didn't want them anymore. Now with wasteland 2 and project eternity I feel like a teen again. I grew up while playing isometric party rpgs and I'm so glad those type of games are coming back. For the nostalgia factor alone I threw my money on them. However baldur's gates, torment, icewind dales etc are still great games. I've replayed them so many times. I hope this kickstarter proves that there is an audience for old school party rpgs. You don't have to dumb your games down.

Man, I don't want to wait two years for this game. =(

I can't wait to play this game and Dead State. Anybody want to recommend me some other Kickstarter projects similar to these two games? Any out yet?

None of the similar KickStarter projects are out yet. The Banner Saga's multiplayer comes out soon, but not the single player.

No, it has to be something else.  He  (Josh) was super animated and emotional  on that second day....  when they reached their initial funding goal.  And.... he was the life of the party when he was DMing the  D&D session a couple days ago.

I think  it was just Burnout.  and he prpobably hadn't slept for 2 days.

I think the only other sort of somewhat recent game Kickstarter thats actually out now is FTL, which isn't much like Project Eternity or Dead State but is an amazingly fun game nevertheless.

Also, from the Project Eternity subreddit:

On behalf of Obsidian I'd like to say thank you for showing the world that there is a still a market for awesome, top down, role playing games. Here are the totals asof 1:30pm PST today (note that PayPal is still open).

Kickstarter
Backers: 73,986
Pledged: $3,986,929

PayPal
Backers: 3,681
Pledged: $176,279

Totals
Backers: 77,667
Pledged: $4,163,208

$4.16 million is absolutely incredible and makes us the most  successful Kickstarter video game and the 3rd most successful Kickstarter ever. Now we're going to get to work to make you a great game, thanks again!

15 levels?! Wasn't that the goal they had wanted to reach?

I haven't watched the D&D session the other day so I based it solely on what I saw the last day...

Just got an email update from Kickstarter. The Mega Dungeon will be 14 levels. But if they get enough Facebook likes soon they'll count it for the 15th level.

They also confirmed that yes, Chris Avellone is not only going to play Arcanum for hitting 4m, but they're going to stream him doing it. Possibly as a Holiday stream special. Victory!

lil' info about one of the characters.

[Adam] We are developing a character that is an Orlan Cipher, who is a detective (Orlans are a new race in Project Eternity. They are small folk based after the gnome and the Halfling). He isn’t necessarily upper class, but he comes from wealth, so he dresses very nicely. Because he’s a Cipher he has somewhat psychic abilities that help him as a detective, and he uses that to investigate murders and the like. So that’s a character we are developing right now.

This game is the only reason I'm not upset about not being able to choose my character's race in DA3.

Yeah, DA3 isn't heading anywhere in a direction I enjoy. I'm really excited for this game and Wasteland 2, though.

Great interview with Avellone.

Are you looking to break any ground in terms of the design mechanics, such as moral choices or relationships? What are you looking to do that isn't generally done?

"
Chris Avellone: There's been a lot of focus with companion mechanics in terms of like "how do I romance this person?" I'd like to think that there are other types of relationships that you can have with a companion, whether it's friendship, rivalry, hatred, or revenge. Romances end up being an easy target, but I think there's a lot more you can do with companion relationships. Also, I think a lot of games have fallen into the hole of the evil choice is always a psychotic option. There's a whole spectrum of other stuff you can do in conversation that I'm looking forward to doing. Sometimes depending on the franchise it does make sense that you have these really extreme morality bars, because that's the nature of the franchise."

Yes! finally someone is listening to the fans. We do want relationships but that doesnt have to be some creepy "romance plot" with tacked on sex scene.

I think I lost all hope with the Dragon Age series.

As for the project, I know Obsidian can do some great characters. I just hope that the fact that we get live instruments doesn't make the soundtrack limited. I'm hoping for a gigantic soundtrack like Guild Wars or Oblivion, well at least the size of Fallout's.

Surely  DA II left everyone down and moody and whatnot. Still, what on earth has there been revealed about DAIII that would enable you to claim it is heading in a bad direction?

It seems to hinge around the fact that you can only be a human again.
Which I admit is a bit of a let down.

Not to mention the multiplayer taking up resources, when they claim that their limited resources are what's preventing them from implementing multiple races.

Many people are also not interested in more of the dialogue wheel, voiced main character and paraphrases/autodialogue that seem to accompany it. Itsshowing to be very a cinematicly focused game, as opposed to a Role Playing focused game.

EDIT: Ah yes, and said above - Multiplayer.
