I'm amazed at how quickly they've gotten nearly to their goal. Just shows the power of gamers. 15 people have donated 1000 dollars. My god these rich bastards!

If I had it, I absolutely would donate 5k, so I could make my own tavern, NPC and armor set. /nerdgasm

Just over 750k around 13 hours after the Kickstarter went live. I am hoping they double or triple what they are asking for. They specifically said that the amount of reactivity the game has is dependent on how much money they raise.

Yep.   Logic dictates that just about every aspect of the game will be richer/deeper/better  depending  on how much funding, beyond the initial asking price, they receive.  They've said over and over that this is the beauty of being able to create a game with funding that doesn't come attached to suit and tie publishing companies:  ALL funding goes towards the game itself.

They also  specifically mentioned  the possibility of "Stretch Goals" once they hit the 1.1 million.  This could potentially be an amazing thing because it will let them be specific with us.  They'll be able to come and say:  hey, we hit 1.1 million.   Thank you.  Your game is coming.    However,  If we get to 2 million, we'll create a tool-set for you guys.  And if we hit 3 million, we'll be able to add X amount of additional story content.  if we hit 4 million then we'll be able to implement that gigantic underground city  and elaborate stealth gameplay that was previous just a pipe dream  at the last developer meeting.  And if we hit 5 million, we'll  be able to force Chris Avellone to write up some romances.....

Oh silly me there was this new thread :)

Lol its $755.553 already. Gamer are really hunger for "good" RPGs.

Now i just need to "convince" more of my friends to throw money, i can be very persuasive with a shotgun.

Hell, Don't waste your come "convincing" them. Just break into their homes, steal their credit cards, drain them of every penny, then put up 10,000  in your name so you can play D&D with the obsidian devs and go to the launch  party.

Edit: LOL  it's the middle of the night in the US and  the counter is still going up about 20k per hour.  Mind boggling.

 From Kotaku interview;

And it'll be PC only, because Avellone is "tired of designing content and interactions that caters to consoles and console controllers.""Those limitations affect RPG mechanics and content more than players may realize (especially for players who've never played a PC RPG and realize what's been lost over the years), and often doesn't add to the RPG experience," he told me.

Just crossed the 800,000 mark. It still hasn't been 24 hours. Just to put things in perspective, it took Wasteland 2 almost a whole week to get to 800,000, and it ended up generating 3 million by the end of the one month time limit.

I can only imagine what Project Eternity's on track to make.

Indeed. I was rather amused at Tim Schafer's response to the major budget flow from his kickstarter...

LOL

God keep that guy. And pressure or not, he's gonna wake up in the morning to good news. It's probably going to reach 1.1 million in a few hours.

This is what I'm hoping for. They are in CA, so I hope that by the time they wake up in ~8 hours, the goal will be cleared.

Sounds awesome and I hope Obsidian can leave out their bugs that have plagued thier games historically. Obsidian (as was Black Isle Studios) is well noted for their writing and character development This game sounds great and Chris Avellone may be one of the greatest RPG writers of all time. If anyone ever played PS:T (in which Chris wrote most of the dialogue) and then consider the graphics and gameplay that are in today's gaming world, I see an incredible game coming about.

Having said that, Wasteland was one of the best RPGs I have ever played.  I actually think it was better from a storyline and gamplay style than the original Fallout. But the graphics in the Fallout world made it a better looking game, so when I add the already great writing in Fallout 1 and 2 (Avellone wrote for F2), they were better experiences for me. Says a lot about how graphics can add to the immersion of RPGing. Avellone's writing for Fallout Van Buren actually carried over into Fallout 3 (which was what Van Buren was to be).

I'm terrible with computers (which is odd considering how much time I spend on them...), I doubt I would be able to successfully make a Windows 7 partition and install/play the game without screwing something up.

Me too: my wallet is already opened. If they continue like that they will fund the game in 24 h :o. I'm speechless... I mean, I imagine the KS being a success but not anything crazy like that.

I guess that settle the question about the potential popularity of a true successor to the Infinity Engine's games once and for all. Always said that there was still money to be made with those kind of games and that EA/Bioware's decision (who somewhat anticipated that trend with DA:O) were superficial and too market oriented.

PS: Your avatar is great indeed :).

This is the first game I've been genuinely excited for since Skyrim. Absolutely cannot wait to follow it over the next few months.

Interesting, but no more than that. And why are they begging? Bethesda never begged for funding to make Skyrim, or at least not that I'm aware of.

Bethesda never tried to make anything that resembles an old school RPG with Skyrim. The type of game that Obsidian is making here is catered to a very specific niche, a much smaller portion of the market than Skyrim is. It would never get the greenlight at a company like Bethesda or BioWare/EA.

Pledged 1000€, I have been waiting for this for a long time :wizard:

ps: I'm on a Mac and I don't give a damn, if they don't make it OSX-compatible, the people working on WINE will
