^^^^ Your rebuttal is surprisingly eloquent and informative.

Anyone have a single argument as to why it's an acceptable practice outside of "the devs said it's an intentional mechanic"?
Edit: "You're stupid" is not and never will be a viable argument. Nor is it constructive. Nor is it accurate. It's a form of cheating in it's own right.
Cheating, believe it or not boys and girls, has very little to do with rules.
It's an acceptable practice because the game has it intentionally designed to be a thing. There is a variable in the game files that controls what % of your reload duration you can cut off with a reload cancel.
Saying that it's "still cheating anyway" reminds me too much of the people on WoW who called Paladins cheaters for using Divine Shield(an ability that makes you immune to damage for 12 seconds). It's one of my abilities and I'm damn well going to use it if I can.
As for lore, so many things get explained through just "space magic" that I'll throw one more onto the pile and say space magic.

Or do you have any argument for why it's a cheat?

Without it, the reloading system would be annoying. A good example for CoD players is the L118A, which would only consider the weapon loaded after the magazine is reloaded and it is returned to its original position. Which meant that it was near-impossible to get a magazine in in a hurry, since you'd always do something to screw up the reload.

Cyonan, games have been programmed with cheat codes nearly from the beginning of gaming. It's still a practice today to include cheat codes. They are cheats, even though they were intentionally added. Your argument isn't really one at all.

In technicality, it is an exploit. It is an exploitation of the reloading system making new rounds enter the weapon before the end of the reload cycle. That does not however make it wrong to do so. It's cheating as much as using player positioning to influence spawning positions is,
I agree. I never said it was wrong to do so. I said I don't like it and it's a cheat.

or using tactics is.

Other that being coded in the game?
Reload cancel is coded in the game in the same way as runing animations...
You are SUPPOSED to cancel long animations if you need to, that was intended in the design of the game... and troll thread, so I am out of here

"It's coded in the game" is just an extension of the "the devs said so" argument. Anyone else care to try?

Unfortunately OP your opinions don't align with the game devs and the broader community. You can regard it as a cheat but everyone else doesn't.

Only we decided a long time ago that reload cancelling isn't a cheat, but rather a feature.
Your argument isn't really one at all, either. Your points consist of:
1. It doesn't follow lore
A lot of things in this game break lore. Is Medi-Gel cheating, too?
2. It doesn't mimic real life.
Excuse me while I go fly through space at a speed faster than light with a species of all females that reproduce using their mind. Video games aren't real life and don't need to mimic real life unless they're going for the modern warfare style of things.
3. You don't like it.
Not a valid argument for it being cheating.

Yes, I'm new at the game. What is this reload canceling and how can I do it?
Press reload, wait for the "click" (or watch to see that the ammo count has reset) and then cancel the rest of the reload animation by tapping medigel (on pc I believe that's the easiest way, anyway), or tap any power on cooldown, dodge, etc. Try it on something with a long reload animation like a Claymore to get a feel for it.

Cyonan,
1) Medi-Gel is a part of ME lore and has existed from the beginning. It's been in various parts of the story, etc.
2) But actually cycling the loader is a part of this game as well as real life and we can just skip it sometimes because it's convenient?
3) I said that's not a part of my argument, just why I'm starting an argument.

On the *ahem* Failbox 360, the easiest way I've found is to leave/enter cover. Unless you're all up in a bossface.
Listen, people. I again will clarify. I never said it wasn't an intentional mechanic. I never said it's bad to use it. I never said I hate people who use it. I just dislike it for various valid reasons AND you need to accept what you're doing is cheating/exploiting a game mechanic, whether it's legal or not.

Reload canceling on powers? Working as intended. Added bonus to you coming up with a proper combination of cooldowns.

If it helps any, sometimes it bites us (me?) in the ass as enemies just loooove to finish me off during a reload cancel. And I pop back up one medi-gel poorer surrounded by teammates confused at my wastefulness.
I feel your pain. I feeeeeeeeel this pain.
