i am having issues with some of the textures ingame becomming exceedingly low rez durring dialogue scenes. i am wondering if this is because of the game engines built in LOD settings and if there is a way to force textures to always load at their highest resolution. any other game based on the unreal engine has texture quality settings available execpt it seems mass effect which forces players with good hardware to suffer through a low quality experiance

Can you post a screenshot of what you are referring to?

I am unable to see these images, would you mind using a different upload service?
Perhaps, Tinypic?

Nightly/Firefox.
Much better. May I ask your computer's specifications?

It's clearly not a issue with your computer specs.
I'm going to do some more research on the topic.

does the mass effect configuration utility change settings based on the experience index??
i keept tweaking my graphics settings i improved it a little bit but i cant figure out how to increase texture resolution >?

the thing is i dont think it has anything to do with my driver settings since i play many games that use this same engine and none of them have this issue only me3

Ok i have a new developement. the blocky distortions are present on both of my computers my desktop and my laptop both have two completely different chipsets and driver versions.

closer examination seems to indicate that the jagged black staircase effect seems related to shadows or lighting shaders blurring the texture and not a low res texture it'sself

BTW this is biowares official tech support forum so ... where are the bioware support agents :/

Banning people for silly reasons.

Lemme know if you find a solution.

Should fix the messed up textures. You'll also need to replace the original sections with the ones I've made. Anisotropic Filtering can make the textures look less blurrier as long as it's on 16 (MaxAnisotropy setting). There's also a setting in there for antialiasing (jagged staircase effect). It's kind of weak, but higher levels of antialiasing will crush your graphics card if it's not powerful enough (for example supersampling or sparse grid supersampling).

This is not official tech support. As it says in the forum description, this forum is strictly user-to-user.

Official tech support is at help.ea.com

well i have officially officially ruled out hardware as the cause and i have ruled out drivers. i was able to reproduce the same texture issue on multiple computers and i got the same issue even after pulling the discrete card out of my pc and running on internal intel graphics so it doesn't seem chip-set specific either.

i tried using the configuration posted above and while it does help some with characters i am noticing blocking in other areas too. i am getting block y distortions in effect textures like holograms explosions and non environment textures.

can you write another lot codeblock for me where min=max for all textures with the max lod also apply max to effect textures i dont want to try this myself because i dont want to break it further

I had similar looking graphics with Mass Effect 2 yesterday. What I had done (trying to fix ME3, doesnt start :( ) was that I had put everything in the ATI Catalyst Center to perfomance setting.

Took me a while to figure out, but then I put everything to Quality setting and ME2 looked again how it should. Cant promise this will work, but it's worth a try.

not talking about changing game settings in the driver or the game config i am talking about the texturegroup settings in the config files
