Sorry, I was going to make some smartass comment like, "No but running with scissors is awesome!"

I digress.

I would like to know how you can do this.  PM me please. Moving fast due to gear, equipment, racial bonus would not be considered cheating.  If you can find a way to sprint, I don't see you being penalized for it.

As a side note, I suppose I should let you know that Thomas Abram's contract expired at the end of last month.  I do not know if / when he will be back.  Sorry about that.

Cheers

Hey folks,

I got your PM.

It's true that, unless we decide to change how certain mechanics work, sprinting with the delivery objective will not get you banned.  We have used the phrase "clever use of game mechanics" and will stand by that.

Have fun Image IPB

Favoritism to the pc elitists once again! Is this a ploy to get me to buy the game for pc as well? It might be working.

You can do it on Xbox as well just not as easily.

Doing that Asari biotic move will make you go forward faster, you will drop the package when you're done but since the button to pick it up and the biotic move are the same, you will pick it up again as you charge forward. You can keep doing that biotic move until you're at the drop point, just don't charge into that highlighted area you have to walk it in, or else it the game won't register you dropping the package off and you have to walk out of the circle and walk back in.

you can do that dashing forward? on console? I always did it going backwards, must try this for easier navigation.

Thanks for the extra clarification.

Anyway, as per your previous question, the way you do it is simply by picking up the pizza, looking down, running a few steps (causing it to drop), then picking it up again (using your FoV) to repeat the process. When you do this quickly, you are effectively running with the pizza non-stop. The main challenge is getting the timing right so you don't trigger a forward barrel-roll (making the trick easier to do with Krogan, Batarians and the old Turians). It can be a timesaver, but in practice, unless you are quite proficient with it, the running trick doesn't yield much more benefit over the standard strafe walking trick.

Weird, I don't do all that looking down, getting the timing right or may roll, etc.

All I do is get a running start and spam press the do-all-button and I'll continue to sprint but pick up the pizza as I run by and continue to run while dragging in at my feet.

Alternatively I can just pick it up naturally and start the sprint animation and then continue to spam the same button, same as you do when you're dead and trying to lengthen the death clock.

Don't need to do all this fancy getting the timing right just press the button as fast as you can while in the sprinting animation.

The only problem is being off host and with faster running characters you tend to lose it do to lag. A host can do it near perfection if they can just coordinate running while pressing the button really fast.

Well isn't infinite missile glitching technically the MOST clever use of game mechanics?

Bioware has made a line and it's obviously zig-zagged.

Yeah, I was taught the lookdown as an assist, but as long as your FoV allows you to pickup the pizza quickly, it will work. I found that timing matters on characters that can dodge, but I guess it's more about rhythm, idk.

Well, as Dharvy and I kinda touched on, pizza running can be subject to a lot of things, like lag. Also, it's not the easiest thing to do, since even a lot of the elite guys on BSN can't do it. And even if you do it right, it's not exactly game-breaking or necessary... all it does is help give your entire team a small money bonus for the wave, provided you beat the wave.

OTOH, missile glitching makes an otherwise terrible player into a platinum soloing juggernaut.

There are exploits and there are glitches

exploits:

reload canceling
express pizza delivery
smash cancelling

glitches:

infinite cobra missiles
dual wielding Reegar and Flamer
Lazarus pits

I've never been sure why one use of unintended consequences built into the game is cheating and another isn't. It certainly looks very arbitrary. I've always considered "clever use of game mechanics" to include things like making use of knowledge of spawn points, not getting around something which looks like it was put in the game precisely to stop you sprinting.

The claim is that reload cancelling is a deliberate feature so therefore isn't an exploit. The others all sound like getting the game to do something that the writers hadn't thought of, some of them are just larger than others. All are permitted by the logic of the game's code (unlike modding files, which is unquestionably cheating).

One of the devs has already said that reload cancelling was an intended part of the game.  They designed the way the guns reload, so people can cancel if they want.

Edit: I got ninja'd!

I think it's as intended as much as Street Fighter 2 combos: It's not

but the devs let it slide

Hmm. Is glitching the hack cheating by dodging out of the hack circle?

Because it isn't a game mechanic, it's the result of exploiting lag.

Actually the sprinting with the pizza is a "clever use of game mechanics" because you're supposed to drop it as you sprint and you do drop it but you can then pick it up real fast before you break the sprint animation wherein if you're still sprinting you drop it again and so on. Game doing what its supposed to do, drop the pizza if your running and allow you to pick it up regardless of if your running or not. And you're never really running with the pizza your just droping and picking up at a different location repeatedly. If you're were able to glitch the game so you can pick up the pizza and not drop it while running and have normal speed walking then you may have a case.

Infinite missile glitching is obviously has nothing to do with game mechanics because you're never supposed to fire missiles out of anything but the cobra.

There's a difference.

Yes it is cheating!

Think of the poor Nemesis that tries to get a shot at you, only to see you start running.
You wouldn't like that to happen when you are sniping, would you?

Or think of the Geth prime from across the map.
Or any other enemy happy to get you in his range.
They need to have their fun too.

Omg i say that to my mom all the time to joke around.  She'll ask me what i did today and i'll say i ran around the house with scissors, stuck a few forks the outlets, and took a shower with the toaster.

You hold your sprint key to initiate a run, then just keep tapping it once you're in the run.  I've done it a few times then stopped b/c i wasn't sure if it was bannable and/or considered cheating.  Now i just let others do it xD or i just walk backwards
