but as a whole,i like being good, the blight doesn't necessarliy justify bad deeds unless they are necessary,my motto is to avoid as much bloodshed as possible, but sometimes, playing as an evil character has it's benefits.
Are you good or evil

It all depends on your definitions.
For example when, at a certain point, you are ambushed by bandits their leader surrenders and you can kill him for his crimes or let him go.
Now what is more evil? Killing someone who surrendered or letting a murderer live?

I'm a goody two shoes
Although some of my characters are what you could describe as good on the whole, but will not shy away from doing unspeakable acts for duty or for the greater good.
I can't make horrible characters, I'm too much of a softy
Heck I can't even be horrible to my party members most of the time, even if it does leave me with three love intrests
(but most of the time I just ignore two and only talk to one [definitely ignore Zevran, everytime I talk to him I always think that I've already slept with him
] )

Playing evil has been a lot of fun. Seeing Alistair's hate speech for reaching -100 was the most rewarding gaming experience I've had...well, that and giving him his mother's locket, then convincing him it was a cheap replica, then making fun of him for believing it was genuine. Awesome!

Well this playthru im being a good boy .im not even going to pickpocket anyone. (perk 4 extra points to place somewhere else) but i will ask for more money from an NPC when i can . It doesnt change anything doing so , so. And im even going the no bumping uglies route even. Masseffect2 as in, being good or bad has more meaning then DAO, IMO. Funny part is even if you dont romance either morrigan or lilianna but still give them gifts. At one point they will start that i dont share talk with each other, even if you dont kiss anyone. Awww the perfect world denerim where there is no such thing as just being friends, lmao
EDIT: role playing is a good thing : ) lol

That´s cause they still love you, mate. Unless you´re a woman, then you need a mod.

I don't think there is a clear good vs evil here. Well, maybe for a start, you can try to kill everyone, but that's lunacy, not evil.
but, I have some general rules in my play through.
1) If somebody ever tries to kill me, then he/she should not blame me for not showing mercy--because he/she won't. Unless, he/she has something else, which I can get only by not killing, to offer.
2) End justifies the means. Greater good surpasses small good or evil.
3) I am an elven libertarian mage. While blight is my first concern, the freedom of mages and freedom of elves are just as important.
4) Because of 3, I have extreme hatred towards a certain group in the game. If there's a chance to weaken it, I will take it.

I sort of agree with Tunippes.
I am more pleasant than unpleasant mainly because I feel if I am unpleasant, I'm missing dialogues and quests ie I am missing game content. I suppose I am metagaming.
I think the most "realistic" approach would be to deal with thugs and bandits but quests like delivering letters or doing some mage's laundry.. those are unrealistic in the face of battle.
So if I were to play an unpleasant character, I'd be unhelpful, maybe kill Zevran, and ignore quests like Cammen's, or the Ostagar prisoner and the dog.

Depends on the charcter for me. One thing I hate is feeling restricted in what I do because of members leaving or approval ratings. It should be more like Mass Effect in that regard.

lol my first game when i firsrt met wynn , well that diddnt turn out well . And also same game i did deep roads to early and diddnt have enough approval with shale and i had to kill it. And to top it off was in love with lilianna and messed up some ashes with her with me and had to kill her too, so its all their fault. They should of never turned against me. I was thinking damm by the end im going to be alone .lol. Oh and never seen sten in the cage... Doh. I started the game over
EDIT cammens quest is easy you just tell gyninn. you want to talk to her in private. lol then tell him after. Sorry he just whines to much even more then alistar . Well no not really more, but the way he sounds. Its just like the smiths daughter. One time just for the heck i ran to the closet she was hidding in without killing anyone and told her it was safe . was that wronge of me ? : )

My first character of any RPG is usually "lawful good", to use a D&D term (and generally a paladin when such an option exists). He or she is helpful, honest, declines rewards, never does anything illegal (unless the plot requires it, like in BG2), shows mercy to his or her enemies, and goes for non-violent solutions when possible.
I like to have a chaotic evil and chaotic neutral runthrough as well, but I always have the most fun playing as a morally upright hero.

Ruthless...I know that wasn't one of the choices but my character is not evil she's just Ruthless. She does what needs to be done in her opinion be it "good" or "evil".
I think that makes the game more exciting. I am "good" in my real life, why would I want to be the same way in a game. That's no fun.

No matter how hard i try to be evil i usually wind up running around yelling "go team" waving my pompoms around eventually. What can i say in my defense i am a nice guy, there are worse things i suppose.

I usually prefer to play good, but Dragon Age is really very complex on most moral issues. I can play a completely different game, make different choices and still feel that I'm playing a 'good' character.
Is it a 'good' thing to punish the traitor Loghain, or is it a 'good' thing to show clemency? It feels like in many of the difficult choices in the game, it's more the justification I use and less the actual choice I made that differs 'good' from 'evil' choices. There are some choices that are reasonably unambigous, but many are not.

I just started playing a character that wants to get over and done with the blight, doesn't really care about the grand scale of things but enjoys combat/killing/savagery.
Its kinda funny seeing him pull out the same magical knife every time he kills someone in a cutscene. Got interesting when i finally reached the connor part and realised, uh-oh, i had let the circle die and there was no way i could save the boy, gotta kill again.

I think i'm going to be grey to good my first time through (now that i've finally been able to choose a race/class lol). I change my mind A LOT! My first time all the way through Knights of The Old Republic, I was good the whole time and went all out darkside towards the end. I just couldn't help myself. I know it's off topic, but my favorite part was forcing the wookie to take out the twi'lek and watching carth run for his life! LOL

LOL the funny thing is I cant seem to carry thru being evil! I try at times to be the anticharacter i usually end up! LOL but while my boyfriend can end up positively wicked, I seem to be stuck in the same path, even when i try to be " evil" kill peeps i am permitted to, etc. so while i still love the game i think my natural tendancies to try to be good keep poking thru the game choices LOL

I have several characters, some good, some evil. My 2 preferred are a very evil, power-mad mage and a goody two shoes HNF (my current avatar).
