The concepts of good and evil are subjective. My characters tend to do as they please though, sometimes helping others if there is any reward in it.

The character that is based off of me is pretty much like me in decision making. I just roll with it depending on how I feel or how it benefits me or the situation.

My other characters have been a little of both. My female warrior is a noble woman, with a sometimes violent streak since Ferelden is a man's world.

My Elf rogue HATES humans, but is nice to those that don't get worked up over him being an elf.

My dwarf is full of rage, but loves a good time. Very violent and someone call him a criminal, but he isn't evil.

I guess good, but I have no "Well, maybe not in others eyes, but in mine..." explanation. I've always tipped the good scale a bit too much on games, if I agree it IS morally right. The only thing I did not do that's "good" is refuse... something. I figured it was a better choice for everyone, since no one... you know.

This is the general forum? Okey. SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a Grey Warden and so do not really care about morality, vengenace, justice, good, evil etc.
Stopping the Blight is my first priority. The fate of the elves, the use of the anvil, the evilness of Bhelen, Howe's betrayal, all this is either irrelevant or not really a priority.

If it weren't for the Blight and the fact that Grey Wardens died at Ostagar I wouldn't even interfere in the Ferelden civil war or the Dwarven succesion crisis. The Order must remain neutral as much as possible.

Well there's that..and there's  "anything it takes to win."    :)

I think I am kind of in the middle,  first run-through I never demanded or asked for rewards...now I do,  because your party members don't seem to care about that.   Well occasionally they do ..but its nothing to worry about in my view.     So maybe I am neutral.  :)

I try to give each of my characters a distinct personality and moral compass (or lack thereof). My human noble was honourable and kind (though a bit haughty, being a noble and all); my mage was cruel and sadistic; my city elf was selfish and chaotic, but good to her friends; my dwarven commoner was an unfriendly thug who was quick to violence, but disliked injustice, and my Dalish elf is a die-hard pragmatist whose only motivation is to end the Blight as quickly as possible (I'd consider her lawful or true neutral, in D&D terms).

Edit: I just realized that I already replied to this topic quite some time ago.  Nevermind, then.

I would say that my characters change off depending on who they are dealing with and depending on how I feel that day. I also tend to role play differently depending on my characters race, origin and class. I will nice and goody when I want to be and I will be a spoiled brat noble when I want to be depending on circumstance.

My first playthrough I had a Dalish elf that started off xenophobic and generally a snarky douchebag. As time went on though, instead of not caring about these alien cultures, the Chantry and so forth, he made decisions based on what he thought was right.

Plus he became a little nicer, mostly just to his comrades.

Him and Alistair have a love-hate snark-bromance

A lot of games I try to be as evil as possible. But there's little point to being evil in dragon age except for just being a bastard. Besides you're going to end up saving everyone anyway so there's not much opportunity to play a truly evil character. But not all choices have a clear moral path so I just go with what I think is best at the time.

Good guy hands down. Don't have the heart to do some of the bastard **** in the game as an evil character, particularly following through with killing Connor!

Evil. I'm sick of being forced to play a hero in most games, so I always generally play evil when I have the chance so I can balance it out.

Also, Evil is more entertaining.

I base my different characters on different things. My HN is based on me, and I will do whatever I need to ensure evil doesnt prevail. Even if that includes Blood magic (as in, Golems.), My Elf is loyal to the dalish and is very picky about humans, but willl likely do the right thing, and so all my characters have their ways.
