That's not inspiration and it's wrong calling it inspiration.

Point to me where I said it was inspiration? Because I never did, nor do i approve of what Bioware did.

Laughed when I read this at Star Control 2's Wiki:

"At the end of the game, it is revealed that this is all a retelling from the player to his grandchildren."

How they both end:

Star Control II: "That, my children, is an entirely different story."

Stargazer: "It's getting late but, okay... one more story."

Lesson learned: if you look hard enough, you can find coincidences.

Also, few things are truly original anymore.

This is very true even when we're talking about Star Wars and Star Trek.

I hardly even read that crap. I don't need to. I can see this for what it is.

It's no different than listing coincidences of JFK and Lincoln's assassinations. All it proves is one thing: if you look hard enough, you can find coincidences and similar things that have come before.

That, and the image maker's obvious bias will no doubt lead him to exaggerate some of those similiarities.

Nothing to see here, move along.

I found this neat piece of info tucked away in the Star Control hub page:

Star Control: Interbellum is a novel written by William T. Quick set in the Star Control universe. It was first published in 1996, shortly after the release of Star Control 3. Several details in it are inconsistent with the games, especially the depictions of the alien races.

Either way DE still isn't the 1st while DE and ME have two different universes.  You would have a better chance saying that DE stole from the Matrix or Terminator.

I'm sorry, but it sounds like you have never written a proper school paper before. Just like in a paper, whenever you get ideas from a different source, you MUST give credit to the source that you retrieved your ideas and inspiration. It doesn't matter how much you alter the ideas that you borrow. If you don't give credit to the origin of inspiration and ideas, then you have officially plaigarized. Obviously Bioware has failed to give credit to their source of inspiration.

It's like Stardock was reaped and Mass Effect is the next cycle.

Oh well, see you in twenty years for the next sci-fi epic.

Hollywood defiantly doesn't do this. Video games don't do this. Many school papers don't do this.

I bet it has a Miranda Lawson variant too.

Oh and a Jacob. Every story has a Jacob.

Come to think about it...

Mass Effect is just an amalgamation of every single successful sci-fi gaming franchise...

Halo, Star Control, Marathon, Deus Ex...Probably more.

Jack is likely a reference to the character in Pitch Black.

Yeah, I can see that for sure.

Therefore. Renegade Shep = Riddick.

You people have made my day.

Because, SC2 were the first people to create an ending in which an older person is retelling events to the younger generation.

No it's not. If it was Bioware would have been sued long ago.
