Sex means something different for each player (no pun intended). Just how far should a game go when incorporating sex into the story? How much does one need to see? Personally, less is more. I don't need to see all the bits and pieces or the mechanics of the act but make it cinematic. That and I like that there is some emotional context. that's not to say I don't approve of nudity, far from it. just let the scene fit the characters. and then let the players (again no pun intended) tweak the game as they see fit.

I think that the ME3 scene with Liara did pretty well. I disliked the fact that DA2 showed less than Origins, but I thought it was implemented better. I think there should be some (context-appropriate) nudity, because I think that in a scene like this it often makes more sense. I don't really see any reason not to have nudity in the context of a sex scene (and an objection to nudity on the basis of content in a game with as much graphic violence as DA:O or DA2 is rather depressing). It shouldn't be done in some sort of overly gratuitous way, but I don't think Bioware would do that (although I suppose it might be fitting for Isabela or Zevran).

Tasteful nudity, intimacy, a bit of humor, sexiness, etc.

I don't want to actually see them rolling around naked in bed. I like what DA2 did ... the way Hawke playfully pulled Anders to bed, or how Isabela literally jumped on Hawke! Those scenes just needed to be longer, or there should have been more of them.

And NO elven porno music LOL OMG

What do I want in a sex scene?  I want a sex scene that can magically detect when someone walks in the room behind you so they don't freakin' ruin it for you with their inane comments.  :P

To be honest, if there is sexytime in the game, I just want it to be clear that's what happened.  I don't NEED to see it.  I don't OBJECT to seeing it, either.  I just don't want it to be so obtuse that it's unclear whether you a.) had sex or b.) caught the other person in a guillotine until they tapped out.

This goes for NEGATIVE examples of sex, too.  Maybe I'm just a blunt person but I have trouble working up the ol' moral outrage when people say things like "oh it was horrible!" and I'm like . . . what was, he spilled wine on your shirt?  He has halitosis?  WHAT?!?!?

I'm a fan of the 'lead up and then fade to black' as employed in DA2. It's enough for me to know that sex has occurred, I don't need to see it at all. I understand the implications perfectly well.

It's been said before on these very forums that it's difficult to even get kissing to look right, but if they think they can choreograph a good sex scene, then they're welcome to try.

Either do it right, or don't do it at all...or learn from Witcher 2.

Does … does anyone really want to see Garrus naked?

I'm not saying he doesn't make a great romance. I'm just … I'm not sure you could see his naughty bits without losing Sanity points, ala Call of Cthulhu.

I'm pretty good with the implication that sex is occured without needing to see sex occuring. I prefer to see more romantic interaction (giving Merrill a hug during a New Path would have been nice) than graphic sex scenes.

Besides, as a North American straight male, I will go blind if I see another man's penis. That's science fact. :P

I thought the ones in DA2 was fine even if I regret ever seeing Merrill in that awful elven underwear. What I want to see is intimacy, the sex can be implied but I certainly don't need to see it.

I have no interest in seeing any nudity either but I don't really care if there is some. Like in ME3, instead of showing someone taking a shower in their underwear show the nudity or even better just show them from knees downwards and imply the nudity instead.

Because maturity is directly proportionate to nudity!

Not.

Sex scenes can quickly become rather... awkward to me, unless they are exceptionally well made (like Liara's scenes in ME1/ME3, for instance). I'm perfectly fine with the fade-to-black thing they did in DA2.

Honestly, I prefer something like a kiss followed by fade to black, because as it is, graphics limitations make anything more than that look clunky and awkward. When I'm playing an RPG the last thing I want is to experience second-hand embarrasment for my character because the pose they're in looks so goofy.

I actually didn't mind the sex scenes in DA2. In fact, I think I might prefer them, particularly since they each had their own "personality" (if you can call it that) based on the person you were romancing. So, some making out and a fade to black is fine with me.

The only thing I really lament is not seeing some more Fenris skin, but that is only with him specifically, and relates to the markings. If Fenris hadn't had the markings, I wouldn't have minded.

Like if you were in the Deep Roads and you kissed Morrigan in front of Leliana to hurt her feelings because you lead her on while romancing Morrigan. I mean that's a moment they wrote for and I laughed at because I'm an evil bastard, apparently.

Lol... wow.

DA2 was good, though I wouldn't call them sex scenes. ME1 and ME3 Liara was fine if you want actual sex scenes.

+1.

Video games have come a long way, but as soon as the clothes come off and the naked writhing starts, it's pretty bad.  I'm all for the DA2/ME2 style of romance scenes.

I liked ME1 and 3's scenes with Liara, Ashley/Kaidan. It's not as direct as the witcher but still shows some intimacy between the lovers.
It goes great with the games, since Shep and company is costantly on the ship, fighting or just working they don't have a lot of time to express their feelings for one another.

In DA2 i never felt like what we got was enough. The scene didn't necessarily need to contain nudity, but either a more close show of affection or the possibility of more romantic encounters with your Romance choise. Hawke is not in the middle of a war before the ending of each arch, s/he has time for passion.

What do you want to call them then? Just because we didn't actually see the act doesn't mean it didn't happen. They had sex.

The most important thing is, of course, the romance itself and not the sex scene. Liara's romance and the sex scenes were pretty well done and showed just enough to make it tasteful instead of tacky. DAO on the other hand...well, the underwear made me laugh.

As long as they make good romance options in DA3 (perhaps not make absolutely everyone bi? Because while I'm all for equal treatment of all preferences, that's just kind of unrealistic.), I'll be happy whether there are sex scenes or not.

How about... no sex scene? I know, shocking. Still, in recent Bioware games it feels more like the romances has been pasted on the rest of the game as a sidequest where the ultimate goal is to get the NPC to bed. Well, the main problem is probably that the romance pretty much ends directly after the sex scene.

Another thing is that I really don't think it should be decided from the start that all the romancable characters will have a sex scene. It should depend on their personality and the timeline of the main story (have the characters know eachother for a week or several years).

For example, I have no problem with Isabellas sexscene in DA2. If anything I'm surprised there weren't several, considering her personality and the game taking place throghout 7-10 years.

On the other hand, I was really surprised that Tali had a sexscene in ME2 at all, considering all the talk of quarians never being able to take of their suits. Wasn't there even some dialogue in a citadel about the whole situation to? the whole "no, don't do that! Don't let some human spoil you". It would have been interesting to see how they made a romance with Tali where you simply never had any hope of ever hitting the sack with her, and knew of it beforehand.

You know you can just not get with anyone or skip the scene if you're so against sex scenes.

You seem to misunderstand something. I'm not against any sex scenes - I'm against sex scenes that are just thrown in there for the heck of it, instead of using it when it actually fits with the characters and their story.

If you read my whole post you would have seen that I was surprised that Isabella DIDN'T have more than one sexscene considering her personality, and the timespan that the game is supposed to take place. I'm just against the fact that everey Bioware romance nowadays seem to be pre-decided that they WILL have one sexscene in the end of the romance, before they have even decided anything else about the NPC.

As for how much skin or action they leave up to imagination, or not, I don't really care about, as long as it doesn't feel like the scene is forced.
