Before I get into the post let me say that making new weapons is not my forte, I usually design characters, so if I don’t understand how to properly rate the weapon forgive me and explain so I can change it accordingly. I'll just be using a simple 1-10 range to grade how good it is.

I got this idea after watching some TF2 Spy game play and realized that melee shouldn’t just be for the aliens and N7's anymore. Sure, there are the vorcha and their claws, the krogans and their heads. But what of every other class that has dreamed of getting up close and personal, but doesn’t have an epic melee given to them by the game?

I propose a whole new set of weapons, specifically designed for those who want to be melee centric, or simple get even more amazing melees.

It introduces some blades, daggers, and all other sorts of fun hack'n'slash fun. With some new effects, designs and game play. This will bring about a whole new light to the game, broadening the horizons of stragey and builds for it, instead of just recommending a new weapon. How about this new weapon TYPE?

-Most of these will be silent, meaning if you kill an enemy with them and aren’t already the focus of attention, the whole squad of enemies wont instantly turn and shoot you in the face.

-Most of them also have incredibly short range (on a melee weapon, go figure)

-Speed replaces firing rate, they have no ammo capacity or accuracy. They’re blades.

- These blades have more special effects, but less variations among themselves I.E. they Geth plasma shotgun is very different from most shoguns; this is a variation among weapons. And an arc pistol's electricity after is an effect

So without anything else, let us begin describing these new weapons

-unless given a new section themselves, they will be classified as shotguns (close range, usually meant for melee builds anyway, seemed appropriate)

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Infantry Omni-blade- a modified Omni-blade designed to be able to last for very long times with little charge to maintain its energy, effectively making it a sword. Mass produced as popular lightweight infantry sword.

Summary: the blade equivalent of the M-8 avenger, probably the first one you'll get and average in all ways, until you get something else then it sucks ass for the rest of the game.

The Zorah dagger: a special dagger meant to honor the Zorah Quarian family, and all their sacrifices in reclaiming the home world and beyond. Uses small amounts f power from the users Omni-tool to jumpstart itself and send electrical pulses whenever swung.

Summary: a small, quick dagger with an electrical after effect. Will stun synthetics, extra damage to shields and barriers

Omni-throwing knives- automatically generated throwing knives that are made by your Omni blade periodically, effectively giving the wielder infinite ammo. Because they are hollow like most Omni-blades and already extremely lightweight, they're extremely accurate, but lose damage the farther they go. And is used when in close range to enemy, will switch to normal knife attack. Base range is 18 meters Level X range is 25 meters

summary: the only blades with gun statistics, loses damage the farther it goes, and will only go a certain distance before it merely clatters harmlessly on the ground, still silent so can be very useful for long range stealth attacks since your less likely to be discovered (or at least immediately killed) if one enemy turns around and alerts the whole squad.

Assassin's Blade: a special blade designed in the STG as a last ditch weapon for their snipers if their rifle malfunctions or they run out of ammo, but it hit a sweet spot with close quarters melee combat and has earned a place as some infiltrators primary weapon. It Gains power when an infiltrator uses his tactical cloak, charging up as the infiltrator uses energy, dealing massive damage when used at the right moment. However, if the infiltrator is not in tactical cloak, than the dagger must be jumpstarted using the Omni tool before striking to do any damage whatsoever, while it is a quick process, it’s rather slow compared to other daggers when compared. It also does not break an infiltrators cloak when used, but upon using it a second time it must be charged and takes power from the cloak, making the infiltrator de-cloak.

summary: a weapon designed specifically for infiltrators, it deals more damage the longer the infiltrator is in tactical cloak, up to as much as double base damage when the infiltrator is only 1/2 a second away from de-cloaking, so it requires a bit of skill to master. Being able to judge the exact moment when it’s best to strike. But the weapon will glow blue and vary in brightness the closer you are to de-cloaking, giving the infiltrator a useful hint as to when not only he should strike. But should also be quick to get out of there. Also will not break cloak when used the first time, but will the second

Level I
Rarity Rare

Weight 3/10

Speed 3/10

damage 6/10

Level X

Weight 2/10

Speed 3.5/10

Damage 7.5/10

Effects: Tactical cloak leech, doesn’t break cloak

Art: a jet black dagger and crosspiece, slightly larger than normal daggers and glows blue when user is in tactical cloak. There is an animation when used, the user flips the dagger in the air to wield it in an overhand stabbing position takes .5 seconds, and lets his Omni tool charge it for 3 (2 at lvl X) seconds, before bringing it down upon the enemy, then flicking it down back to normal slashing position but can be pre-charged. Infiltrators don’t use the last animation when cloaked for the first attack.
_________________________________________________________________________________________

Geth pulse Striker: an experimental Geth Blade designed with the same technology as their shield pulse technology, causing an enemy struck with it to explode after a certain amount of time. Adapted to use thermal clips for the technology. But to not let this main feature deceive you, the Geth have also designed the blade itself to be far from harmless, designed with a special metal made by the Geth that becomes soft when exposed to a certain frequency and easily folded by small hydraulics, and then back to its original shape when used, allowing the metal to mold to the exact shape needed, becoming perfectly sharp every time it’s used.

summary: a Blade that does slightly less than average damage, but has a special effect of causing an enemy to explode 3 seconds after being struck by the blade, dealing 200 damage over 3 meters. This effect can be stacked, meaning it can be very useful against boss enemies since they would get damage from the blade and then explode every second after the first 3 seconds. But it has very limited "ammo" to use for the explosions, if you run out of ammo, you can still use the blade. But it won’t cause enemies to explode.

Weight 6/10

Speed 3/5/10

Damage 5/10

Capacity 6 no reserve ammo

Level X

Weight 5/10

Speed 4/10

damage 6.5/10

Effects: Geth pulse

Art: a dull gray blade that is wrapped in the same pulse as a geth when using his heavy melee when it has ammo. Enemies with crackle with electricity like when hit by overload, but it’s the teal color of a shield pulse. Then the pulse detonates and explodes.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Drell Arm blades: extremely lightweight, quick arm blades designed by drell assassins meant to encumber the user as little as possible. Allowing for quick, rapid strikes with little recover time. Enabling quick hit and run attacks and letting the user dodge out of the way at nearly any time, negating those times when you realize you got yourself into a situation where you can’t handle it but your blade's weight or follow through negates you from quickly getting out of the way.

Summary: these blades are practically all the description says, the melee time is hardly anything, but so is the damage, the amount of attacks your able to get in a certain time will determine how effective you are with the blades, but this also makes it extremely versatile. Compare it to a krogans melee speed, when you go to attack a geth prime and use your heavy melee, you committed, didn’t see those 200 pyros waiting around the corner? Too bad. But these arm blades are extremely quick and in you accidently attack him, therye quick enough to get in the one attack then realize whats happening and dodge away. But also if you’re in a group of enemies you can unleash a flurry of attacks and deal some pretty good damage.

Krogan Great sword: a absolutely massive sword originally made by the krogans, used originally as a ceremonious weapon when to krogan would battle to the death when they fought over a female. about the length and a half of someone’s arm and twice as wide, made out of hardened steel. Anything besides a krogan would have trouble lifting it, until the krogan were finally convinced into adding small mass effect generators to it, and converting it to monomolecular. This is the only difference between it and a conventional blade. But the krogan argue that "something this heavy is bound to do allot of damage if any of you puny aliens can bother to lift it." which can hardly be argued with when you see it in action. While it does have Mass effect generators, it’s still extremely heavy.

Summary: once again, the description pretty much takes care of it, this blade is as heavy as they come, slow to boot, but is extremely powerful, this blade is the krogan personified in a sword. Krogans also get a +5% damage boost with it, and it's the only blade that makes noise when used. And takes some major time to swing.

Judgment Greaves: Special Greave Designed for Asari Justicars who wanted to punish violators of the Code with nothing besides their hands and their biotics. These special greaves have micro Mass effect generators in them, bringing the use of biotics into weapons, allowing it to throw unarmored units and stun armored ones on the first strike since the eezo jumpstarts, and then allow the user to attack faster as the generator powers up and makes the user and the gloves lighter. The first strike starts out slow and with the ability to throw units, and then gains speed with every strike.

summary: these gloves have a slow, over hand punch as their first attack very close to a biotics punch, including how it can throw unarmored units huge distances. But then you attack in a series of average speed punches that gain speed until they rival the Drell arm blades and max out in speed, not so useful if your constantly being stunned and the stream of punches is interrupted. They deal okay damage and deliver pain very quickly

That sounds awesome. Great idea OP. You've made me sad that these aren't in the game.

While some of the names are rather nerdy (Judgment Greaves?), this would be pretty interesting. Unfortunately, it probably won't come to pass, even though Turian Ninjas would be awesome.

those were the ones I also had trouble naming, I'm pretty sure thats the name for golves designed for combat. and I didnt knwo what to call them since their designed for justicars, the only other justicar weapon also sounds a bit nerdy

Also thanks for you amazing support! I posted my chr. ideas on the fan creation thread and didnt get nearly as much!

Thank for not-bumping this thread. Seeing it on the front page is refreshing.

I expected a thread about infiltrators on Firebase Dagger. This is substantially better.

Also, I now cannot get the image of my krogan Battlemaster with a battleaxe out of my head. And I am okay with that.:wizard:

I love the idea. As unlikely as it seems, one can hope. At the very least, I'd like a true Ninja-melee class (no wall-penetrating powers) and a martial artist class. I'll be honest, I just want to play Devil May Cry (Vergil, not Dante) in the Mass Effect universe llooll.

On topic, can you imagine an N7 Destroyer with Drell Armblades, or a Krogan Battle Master?! Ha! Awesome.

(doubles as a bump)
lol, they would probaly have some kind of slower usage because they are krpogans unfourtunatly...
And yeah one can hope, most likely not such a huge diffrent weapon will be added, but look at the response its generated from the community!
