No thanks.

It was good, but any game that ends it's story with something that is akin to 'torch the franchise and run', doesn't make a great series. I understand they tried, but they retroactively ruined the series for too many of the dedicated fans by introducing plot holes to win the best, in my opinion.

Hope Dark Souls and The Witcher 2 get a fair shake. By far the best games I've player this year other than The Walking Dead, which should have no problems clinching best downloadable.

I cant wait for TWD, it looks awesome.

It's sort of already out...

Unless you mean the carbon copy FPS based on the crappy show(Yeah I Said It COME AT ME HATERS)

Pretty sure he's just waiting for ep 4-5 to come out before playing it. I was going to do the same but then ep 1-2 were free for PS+ members and I couldn't help myself.

I <3 BSN for this. A lot of people had been talking about this game for the past few weeks so I had to check it out. I love it so much I'm buying a new PC so I can play it, my laptop can't handle it. It's really REALLY cool, I love the choice system and how the game doesn't let you dawdle on big decisions.

Even though Zombie scare the living daylights out of me, I love games that you can taylor to your choices. The cartoony style helps with the scare factor though, makes it more "awesome!" and less "omg ewww!"

Can't wait to play them! Image IPB

Also, I find Tuchanka to be overrated, frankly.

It most certainly is. It's full of continuity issues, character mischaracterizations and derp.

What, what and what? Did we play the same game? Or do you define "Character Development" as continuity issues etc?

SAme.  I felt Sur'Kesh and the Tuchanka missions were the best in the game overall.

Mass effect gets my vote

Only competition is witcher 2, but the multiplayer gives mass effect a nod

a tacked-on MP a nod? lol

Yeah it's fun and all, but it's horde mode and it's not even part of the RPG aspect which is what some of the voting is for.

And I did love aspects of ME3, really did, but without a good ending no way.  For all around satisfaction-Dark Souls was completely immersive and never let up.

voted for ME3 in best gaming moment but not goty. But then again if a buggy game can win goty then I see no reason why ME3 can't win it. To be clear I am not hating on ME3, I just think there is another game that deserves goty

The frell they couldn't! Want to fix things? Don't retcon it, add more endings! Add a couple of new ending branches! The Marauder Shields comic is proof that a competent writer can take the very same game universe, information given, and characters, and create a completely different ending concept. Adding a different branch to follow would free them up even more. And you cannot tell me that people wouldn't have eaten up a successful Refuse ending, even if the EMS to get it was insanely high.

No, Bioware CHOSE to stick with what they had.

^ This man (turian?) has the right of it, and that's why I won't let it go.

You're all welcome to do what you want. Nothing anyone says will change that. But I find it cathartic to say what I intend to do, and I have every intention of letting Bioware see that where they can read it. I still feel that strongly about it, and the EC was awful. They said they'd change the endings and they changed nothing. They just bury themselves deeper and deeper with EC and, later, Leviathan.

They think strongarming you into Synthesis is the answer to Destroy being the only half-successful ending. Not half-successful because Shepard lives - that's not a factor in it at all - half-successful because the reapers don't win. And I hate having to commit genocide to accomplish it. I blame them for that. And that's my right.

So, no; no awards for ME3 as far as I'm concerned. It deserves nothing with those endings. Trying to award it for other parts that were in-fact great is like admitting that the ending doesn't matter, and I'm not bending on that.

Lastly, I apologise for what may be perceived as volatility. I guess the wounds are still a little fresh and it's hard not to let a little of that colour my opinions.

I haven't played the other games, and despite liking ME3 up until the end, endings are crucial to a game. An extremely bad ending like ME3 had torched the franchise, which in turn causes me not to vote for it. Since I haven't played the others, I'll vote for none.

I know this is an incredibly stupid question but...

Were the endings really that terrible?

EDIT: I'm genuinely curious.

Oh, goddess. I apologise if I said too much, or otherwise let it ruin your experience. This was in the Spoilers section so I didn't think about ommitting much.

Flee the spoiler-allowed forum and try to enjoy the game. You're welcome to share your thoughts, hopes, or disappointments afterwards. Enjoy what you can, or all of it if you can. It was never my intent to sour you to the game before you've finished it.

I'm basically done with this franchise I've realised. The whole anti robot bollocks is something I'm fundamentally unable to accept, and completely contradicts one of the main running themes I enjoyed most about the series. Add in th wankfest that is Walters artistically miserable ending, rushed, crappy overall experience, lack of choice, making past actions meaningless, and the ****ing autodialogue and I've come to the conclusion that I simply don't like Mass Effect anymore.

It's gone from being my number 1 most beloved game series of all time to crashing clean out of my top 100.

So the ME Devs can go f*ck themselves. Not only don't they deserve to win any of these or other 'best of' awards, but I genuinely hope they get the various 'Most disappointing' and 'Biggest letdown' titles coming up in future months.

There's no category for Arson of the Year. A great injustice to ME3.

Got to be the best RPG of the year, decade if you take all three into account? Despite BW managing the frak everything up in the end... don't get me wrong it wasn't perfect but a pretty well layered experience.

Wish there was an award for the best equality between player options for male and female, apart from the stupid lumpy female armour.. why is all i will ask... you don't get lumpy bits in any other protective gear... FemShep really can be a proper grown up grumpy, down and dirty marine...

No. The game was messed up with the bugs that they didn't address before release such as the face import bug, scanning being sluggish, journal not updating... and more.

Doesn't even deserve an award IMO. Unless if the award was for "Best attempt at destroying a game series in less than five minutes"... still can't play ME3.

Why isn't Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in the Fighter section? BS; I call it.

ME3 wins GoTY for me...because I didn't play any other games in that section except for some crappy FPS rehashes.

The Witcher 2 came last year. It was the second best game (for me) after Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

I don't care that consoleboys got it this year, The Witcher 2 is 2011 game for me.

Odd that neither XCOM game made it into the "One To Watch" category.

Also that they put ME3 in RPG, not shooter...

They're worse. The original ending was (IMO) the worst ending I have encountered in any fiction, of any medium. The EC improved some aspects, but did nothing to fix the worst of the failures.

Pre-extended cut, no way. Too many plot holes and inconsistencies. Post DLC....maybe. They answered many question with plausible answers however improbable they would be.

Top Gaming Moment (Tuchanka), Hell yes. One of the only truly memorable things about this game and one of the most awesome gaming moments in the past years imo.

GOTY, definitely not. If ME3 somehow wins GOTY then it's the final bit of proof that these things are fixed.

Best RPG: Erm... there isn't much rpg left in Mass Effect so that'd be a huge insult to the entire genre. That's a definite No.
