Voted for Mass Effect 3 where ever i could Skyrim is riddled with childhood diseases and character have the same voice,Diablo 3 is just a Torchlight/wow copy and a huge dissapointment the entire game is a DRM, Dark souls' got terrible gameplay, the rest i haven't played/don't care.
Mass Effect 3 has great gameplay, solid story, well written characters, touching and memorable moments.
You voted for ME3 over Skyrim.... possibly one of the GREATEST games of all time?
Are you nuts?
He thinks Diablo 3 is a Torchlight clone, so there's a good chance that's true.
Speaking of Torchlight clones, Torchlight 2 in 2 days. Wohoo!

ME3 isnt an RPG and winning that insults the genre completely....
ME1 certainly was. ME2 really toed the line, but it definitely was as well. ME3, well, I guess I see your point. It still has some elements, but they've been streamlined to the point where they're not different outcomes. They borrowed heavily from cinematic FPSes (not a bad thing!), but it technically is an RPG. It is a role-playing game. You become Shepard, control their fate and your decisions and actions are completely based on that. In that sense, it has been very faithful to the core concept of what an RPG is, even if it's changed the presentation.
Game of the year games dont recieve the backlash ME3 has and continues to do so, and personaly i thought it was mediocre at best
I agree with you, there's no way a winning game would have the backlash that ME3 did have and continues to have for reasons found all over these forums and all over the net. But I did enjoy ME3, despite its shortcomings, very much up until the end where I discovered I'd rather not have played it at all and preserve how I felt about the previous two games. I lost even that, playing ME3. That's how bad it was.

Best RPG? Ahahahahahahahahaha...stop. You're killing me. Hahahaha...ow my ribs hurt.
Top gaming moment? Maybe. Unfortunately, I haven't really purchased anything new in the last year besides ME3. It was pretty moving if you let Mordin save the Krogan, though.

The year's not exactly over yet...
Agreed, there are other things coming that I want to play, and while ME3 is the best game of 2012 for me so far, it remains very beatable in my book, so I couldn't vote for it in good faith until the year is up.

ME1 was an RPG as being able to cusomise your squadmates and every bit of equipment caters to that, it felt epic and immersive, ME3 gave the option to remove all dialogue and was there any boss's? ridiculous that a so called RPG had no boss of any note........also levelling up is redundant as u start off killing reapers at the start of the game at basic level yet at the end of the game when your a supposed badass, you end up killing the same reapers/enemies as u did 50 levels ago......there is no point in levelling up if theres nothing to use ur skills against...
ME3 was enjoyable, im not a total hater, i just hate how sold out it feels....how non epic it felt for an end of game trilogy, the bugs, lack of import, journal entry, 1 hub, no end boss, these things are vital for an RPG let alone an epic game of the year title...........like i say.....its medicore, ive done 1 playthrough.......and that alone speaks volumes how much it is a letdown.

RPG? Laughable. You might as well put Skyrim down as an FPS because a bow is a ranged weapon like a gun.
As for Tuchanka... it was emotional, but clumsy. It felt too much like the devs were saying 'This is sad. Do you feel sad yet? Feel sad at this scene!'. Aside from that, as a 'gaming moment' it was certainly lacking. It did nothing to make an innovative experience. There was nothing iconic about the gameplay to make it a stand-out 'moment'.

After looking at the available options in the various categories, Mass Effect 3 was not the best choice.

Gear customisation, stat manipulation, and top-down action-selector are not defining of what a role-playing game is. FPS or not, the perspective doesn't define if it's an RPG either.
In ME3, you make decisions as Shepard, you have a very clear moral compass which you've developed over hundreds of game hours, and there is so little of you in Shepard that you may as well be living someone else's life. You make decisions and act them out without reference to yourself once you've established the character. That is definitively a role-playing game.
I find your definitions highly suspect. You do realise the original Final Fantasy games weren't RPGs, right? No character interpretation, just story. There was no role-playing. A fantasy millieu =/= role-playing.
Table-top role-playing isn't role-playing because of the dice, you realise. It's because we act out the gorram characters. In ME3, you definitely feel like an actor taking on a character, therefore it is an RPG.
