Top gaming moment? Absolutely. The other two? Absolutely not. It was a good game, but there were many that were better.

I hate ME3's ending, I didn't vote for ME3, but ME3 *is* an RPG.

Gear customisation, stat manipulation, and top-down action-selector are not defining of what a role-playing game is. FPS or not, the perspective doesn't define if it's an RPG either.

In ME3, you make decisions as Shepard, you have a very clear moral compass which you've developed over hundreds of game hours, and there is so little of you in Shepard that you may as well be living someone else's life. You make decisions and act them out without reference to yourself once you've established the character. That is definitively a role-playing game.

In ME3, you definitely feel like an actor taking on a character, therefore it is an RPG.

When I played the series I really didn't pay much attention to the Paragon/Renegade compass. I rarely do. When I discuss the games with people on my friends list I typically hear "I always play as as Paragon." Not that there's anything wrong with that. I usually end up neutral or close to it. In Skyrim it's hard to get money the honest way at first so a little B&E work and thieving usually helps get the money coming in quickly.

In ME? Shepard fit like a glove. I played the role, but when I was playing Shepard I became Shepard. And that's where the ending of ME3 really let down. Mac can write great characters and should stick to that. Mac should stay away from writing plots and story: he's out of his element.

But I could not in good conscience nominate Mass Effect 3 for any of the three. If it wasn't for the Intro, which was done horribly (I'm not complaining about the lack of a trial -- I'm complaining about the focus on the mechanics instead of story), and the piece of s*** of an ending that sucked the soul out of you (sorry the EC didn't fix it -- I still remember the three weeks of depression after the original ending and the two half gallons of ice cream to fill the void), it could have been better than Skyrim. If they had an ending with no Starbrat where we kicked the reapers in the daddy bags, it would have been better than Skyrim. But they gave us a soul sucking ending, and they're staying with it.

Because of that: All three went to Skyrim.

PS: the cartoon you posted at one time? I loved it.

1. witcher/best rpg
2.max payne/ best gaming moment
3. skyrim/ goty
sorry mass effect doesn't deserve any awards, as much as i love the series, bioware let the fans down, plain and simple, i am now only holding out to see if puzzle theory has any merit, otherwise, i don't know what the future holds for me and bioware personally.
btw your link for goty is actually the link for best rpg again.

Uh... the year isn't even over yet? And some how Skyrim is released in 2012 WTF? Is this based on the Chinese Calender or something? Even so Mass Effect 3 is does not deserve a single award, well except for maybe Tuchunka. If any reward is given to Mass Effect 3, I'll be surprise how many people accept mediocre garbage as quality gaming. If anything it deserves the Most Disappointing Game of the Year Award, follow by Most Idiotic Mind Numbing Stupid Ending in a Video Game Award, and the Catalyst receiving the most Hated Video Game Character Award.

I love Skyrim in spite of the bugs. I would rather
play a great game with bugs, than play a ****ty game without them.

Depends.  Bugs can make games very frustrating to play.  I find that a good rule of thumb for Bethesda and Obsidian games is to wait a couple months for the first large patch to resolve game-breaking stuff.

Very True.... Since I waited a couple of months after Skyrim released and after experiencing New Vegas buggy mess in the same month of released I gotten a much more enjoyable experience  I've been lucky so far not to run into any game breaking glitches in Skyrim since I waited for the patches first... Even though New Vegas was a terrific game it has been marred by the many bugs and glitches and the notorious save file corruptions.  The only thing Bethesda and Obisidian needs now are competent beta testers and maybe longer development periods iron out any defects in the game.

it's ironic as i spent 80hours delved into the world of skyrim and dont remember a buggy mess, ME3 froze on me many a time entering the spectre office and shooting galery.......Skyrim will win the RPG award easily, and deservedly so as they spent years making that and a new engine, ME3 took 1.5 years to make and it shows........Dragons dogma is better than ME3 in my opinion.

Trying so hard to get into Dark Souls. Taking out a boss is incredibly satisfying but it's difficult to keep going when dying means you have to kill everything all over again.
