in leviathan DLC, during mission on namakli, i am unable to descend a
ladder to continue the mission.  a few minutes into the mission, there
is a fight with a banshee by a bridge the requires repair.  after this
battle, you climb a ladder onto a shelter, then descend a ladder on the
opposite side of the shelter.  after climbing the first ladder, i am
unable to descend either ladder.  Shepard moves towards the ladder,
turns around (as if to climb down), gets stuck and then returns to the top of the shelter.
I've tried reloading the save at that point, and restarting the
mission.  I am unable to proceed past that point.

I just posted the same problem! Should have read through earlier posts more carefully, it seems. Anyway, consider this problem seconded.

This problem has been reported many times. Try to look up while approaching the ladder and keep looking up when descending.

I am experiencing exactly the same problem. I tried looking up (not easy to keep lined up with ladder) but the moment he hits it we get stuck again. To make matters worse we are constantly being attacked (and killed) due to inability to descend ladder. I'd happily jump down but of course that is not allowed. Is there a patch for this thing or another way down?

Many folks with this issue seem to get around it by reducing the Video resolution to 800 x 600 to get down the ladder, then change it back again after getting down the ladder.

Another thing you can try is going into Windowed mode if the above temporary solution did not work..

Changing the resolution really messed with my machine and the screen froze. However, I tried another suggestion from a alternate post, walking very slowly Ctrl W (looking up at the same time) and finally got to the bottom, after which I saved immediately in case it was a fluke. Seems you just have to run through all the suggested solutions until eventually one of them works. Why this didn't show up on test is anyone's guess. The bug is consistent, it is just the solution which isn't.
