Oh, we might not have got pointless fetch quests, dodgy animations and so on, but there's no evidence to suggest that we wouldn't have just got a better polished version of the same thing.Chaotic-Fusion wrote...
Yeah. that was such a missed oppurtunity. If they had been given more time I have no doubt ME3 could have been the best in the series, right now it's the worst.

On the one hand, this person was an ass, giving MG unneccessary grief.
On the other hand, MG used the S-word. He, among several of the people at Bioware who have the most interaction with the fanbase, should know by now that 'speculations' is not a word to use in your PR. It sits right up there with 'artisitc integrity'. By putting that out on Twitter, he opened himself up to a whole world of fan irritation. He should have known better than to do that. But above all, he should have known better than to respond to the comments. The internet's full of people who will aggravate you. if he wants to contribute to Bioware PR (which any comments about the development of the game is, no matter how marginally), then he needs to keep a level head and don't respond stupidly to stupid tweets.
In short, the other guy was rude, but MG is the one who let himself and his team down by lowering himself to this level.
I appreciate that the BW team has worked hard, but they have to realise that in the eyes of many they have failed. what's more their company's handling of the issue (ECP resorted to 'yo momma' insults months ago, people. and the condescending tone of every ending-related piece of publicirty doesn't help) has been less than stellar. Fan outrage is going to be a part of the routine for some time to come. The noble thing to do would be to bow their heads, admit defeat, and soldier through to the next project, whatever that may be. Fan opinion is too soured on the franchise for anything saddled with ME3 to receive an overwhelmingly positive reception.
My advice to Bioware, if they ever care to listen to their fans as they once did?
Let ME rest in peace. You put it on life support with ME3, now let it pass. The only way to properly ressurrect the franchise would be to remake the third game, and there's no way the bigwigs will greenlight that. At least, not with the features that a remake would need to rekindle the trust between the devs and the fanbase (compulsory MP/online elements, anyone?).
Let Mass Effect go, and move onto a new project where you are willing to stick to the promises made at the start of the saga, where you'll put in every ounce of effort needed to give the fans what they want instead of giving new players what they never asked for, where the story and the games remain consistent throughout. You know what happens when a saga changes genre halfway through, so please for the love of god don't make the same mistake again.

Me too. Didn't they claim they were planning on improving vehicular gameplay in ME3? I would have liked that.
yes they did, and most of those fetch quests that could have been side-missions was a great chance for us to use them
Yeah. that was such a missed oppurtunity. If they had been given more time I have no doubt ME3 could have been the best in the series, right now it's the worst.
I also missed customizing squads armor, because in ME3 some of the squad (I.e Ashely, Liara, Kaiden, and James) are all copy and paste re-skins of each other

Mike Gamble joked on Twitter about how he loves "speculation". ME Fan replies "we don't", and Mike replies "too bad... :)". The conversation in the OP is what followed, and of course it also blows up here. Both Mike and the fan later clarified their point (Mike saying they didn't rip part out of the game and sell it as DLC, and the fan saying he just wants a complete ending and is willing to pay for it). The conversation ended there. Why this has so much pages? Simply because the community is still very divided on the topic of the ending.spirosz wrote...

I guess what I'm saying is, "what type of content do you think SHOULD be in the DLC?"
Hi Allan,
7 hrs ago I was sleeping. So I'll answer this question now.
1. I think the story in the game should be complete out of the box. If you can't, make it into two full length games. If it's not two games in length go to item 2.
2. Sometimes a story can become too big for one but not long enough for two games. Get to a logical stopping point, but make the content up to that point as complete as you can get it. If it's going to be a cliff hanger at that point, make sure you inform players up front that this is part 1 so there is no backlash.
3. If you do this, add the rest of the story in a full sized expansion pack and make it a really good one.
The last thing you want to do is put out a rushed product and give the player the feeling you put out a rushed product. The ending needs to leave the player with that "hell yeah!" feeling, not that empty WTF just happened feeling we experienced with ME3.
No amount of DLC justifying a poorly written ending can override a "WTF just happened" feel. It's unsatisfying and doesn't work. It doesn't build good will.
4. DLC should be fun non-essential stuff that only adds to the background, or fun optional stuff that extends the story beyond the ending, perhaps providing a bridge to the next saga.

I understand them. I try to keep that anger I have about the endings in check, but it just bubbles over when I read something about Bioware, especially when or how they interact with fans.
They can't spit on their fanbase and then expect their fans to sing them praises. They cannot, should not, expect any more than vitriol at this point. If they want to push the content as a money-making vehicle, hey, I understand. But they can't expect us to love them for it, when they've done nothing but shovel us ... well, you know what I'm saying.
I'm still trying to get a grip on that anger. I'm usually pretty open-minded and non-partisan. <Sighs>
I guess it's impossible to be this angry about something you don't have passion for. I wholeheartedly admit it, I love Mass Effect. But I despise the endings for ME3, and I hate Bioware for their EC and flat out saying no further changes to the endings -- when they haven't changed the endings yet. There I go again. Sorry. :-/

DA2 was good but not good enough. ME3 was masterful but not a masterpiece. The next console cycle is here.
I'm a Bioware fan. It's the fourth quarter and we are down by two touchdowns. I think Bioware can pull it out. I'm a fan. Are you?

Good content.... not more content further explaining the Catalyst story line that your fans despised. Also, there is that guy named Harbinger. If you don't think that there is anything wrong with this content, then good for you but I see so much that is lacking there it isn't even funny.
