What would you like to see? What do you want? What do you don't want to see?
I enjoyed Raiders on the Cliffs in ACT 2.
But I'd also like to see them be part of the actual overall story instead of separate entity.
Random events when traveling with your companions?

I think this is a tough a question. Random encounters can be cool, but they are easily abused, like 20 years ago while playing Champions of Krynn I would travel back and forth to pop goblin random encounters to out level the content (until I ran into Hill Giants and reloaded that is).
There could be a limited number in a specific time frame, so if we are using Acts, there could be something like 5 an act, they might give you like a level in total, with some minor reward afterwards (like the night time streets in DA2, seriously, least safe town ever). Then of course we are into people just traveling between point a and b to trigger the 5 encounters all at once to get them done, then they sorta cease to be random.
And if they have a non-trivial reward, say like the meteorite fragment from the Superman bit from the Warden's Keep DLC in DAO, you have to travel around till you pop it, and then of course coding errors pop up where it won't pop and end traveling between the Circle and Redcliff over 43 times, not that I AM BITTER OR ANYTHING.
Bottom line: In a more open environment, they are interesting fluff, but if they are added to be TRULY random, they are a headache for devs who are trying to design level appropriate content.

I would also like some encounters to be more story integrated.
For example.
Say in Dragon Age Origins there was a chance to run into the high dragon. If I killed it there, I won't have to fight it when I go get the ashes.

Plot relevant encounters are great like the slave hunters that come after Fenris in Act 2. They even attack again and if you don't go do Fenris' personal quest there and then he leaves.
But I like the Easter egg ones like Superman and Lord of the Rings too. They're mostly pointless but still fun.
