Do people still not realize level < gear / equipment?
Doesn't matter what his level is, just check his loadout.

I brought a level 1 Turian Sentinel into a FBWGG match (with Harrier, okay)... then I topped the scoreboard. Your argument is invalid.

When i have a lvl I character its usually my SI with lvl 1 cloak and lvl 1 Energy Drain. I spec him with my Valiant VI and give him Stronghold V Gear for extra shields. Set lobby to FBW and Geth/Gold Public then hit start game.

When the game starts i run down to the cover spot. Usually halfway through wave 1 or at the start of wave 2, people begin to join. They have no idea what build or lvl i am using. They play. We win.

Game ends, i usually top the scoreboard with around 140,000 (40,000 more points than the 2nd place pug). Then when we get back to the lobby i see someone kicking me now that they see my character is only lvl 8. To which i say. " I just outscored you all as a lvl 1 and you wanna kick me now im a lvl 8? " 1 guy leaves out of shame and i continue playing with the others for another round.

Why shouldn't I? I'll still end up with the highest score by the end of match with a solo extract every time anyway. Pugs, can never rely on them for anything, gotta do it yourself every time.

If a player enters a PUG I am hosting with a level one character, chances are I wont want to play with him/her. It's nothing personal. I don't, after all, know these players. I don't doubt there are legit players out there that can do extremely well with a level 1. I just don't see why I should have to trust a complete stranger not to suck when there are a lot of players with level 20 characters that can't handle Gold as it is.

Also, the store gives me only so many Cyclonic Modulators. I don't want to waste them in matches with players that on first impression give the expectation of wanting to be carried. Since, after all, that is all a person has to go by when running into another random player--first impressions. Give a bad first impression, then expect to be thought badly of if/until you do something that changes that initial impression.

Right...

You had a bad experience with a level 1 on gold OP? Too bad, stop assuming everyone else can't handle it.

For the record I rarely take my level 1s into gold, simply because too many people always freak out and start leaving the lobby.

level 1's are a burden to the team.
I don't care how skillful you are, go level up in bronze and silver first.

So if a level 1 player is better than all the other players combined with weapons and never uses powers...

How is he a burden to the team if he is headshotting everything?

Because his DPS and survivabilty will be ****** poor.
I'd rather have a good lvl 20 then a godly lvl 1.

Are you f***ing kidding me? So if a godly lvl 1 actually performs better than that good lvl 20 by the end of the match (and everyone else for that matter), are you still going to say that lvl 1 was a burden?

Zancloufer wrote...

Level 1 characters are too low to play in a Gold game.  Yes they MIGHT be really good, but their character is still severely gimped compared to even a level 10 one.

They're not too low, and if a good player can perform better than the rest of the team with their level 1 and contribute to a succesful match, what exactly is the problem?

I get the "I can't trust a random to actually be able to pull it off", and to that I say "fair enough", but people really need to stop assuming that no one can do it or more imporantly, that they can't do it and also contribute more than anyone else to the team.

Lathrim wrote...

It seems people need to realize the OP is talking about PUG's, where there are many bad and good players and no way to know which is what. With that said, being good enough to carry a full team through Gold matches myself and enjoying it, I don't really care.

The OP made a generalization with nothing but a small addendum at the end.

This

i'd prefer a low n7 lvl 20 over a high n7 lvl 1 in my gold matches. At least the low n7 has the potential to play better (and most I've seen are eager for advice and solicit it -- I do not give unsolicited advice unless the situation will directly cost me a payday at the end of a match).

Mixed feeling about the topic:
I normally buy a few recruits after promoting because I like to play with some powers too.
On the other hand, in PUG, I would prefer a L1 with L10 rare/ultra-rare and L5/L4 gear consumable against a low N7 with poor weapons and gear, which are considerably more frequent and with greater negative impact on the team.

In summary, to all new "keep out" topics:
No matter your N7, class level, weapons/gear levels, there are some games you should keep out of.
Make sure you perfectly fit in before you play

I don't mind if they use all the gear slots, but I will un-equip all consumables in the expectation of a failed round.

If you don't want me in your game kick me. But I can still pull at least second place on the scoreboard as a human infiltrator at level 1 with a katana X.

As the title says, I've seen some of people with N7 1000+ or around 1000 bringing their freshly promoted lv1 characters on GOLD match.

I don't think they do it on purpose:

I am N7 1200+ and today I was looking for 1 round bronze with my lv 1 Kroguard. Since I was looking für bronze I didn't eqip consumables.Just 1 point in barrier and my piraniha

The team I got was in wave 2 or 3. After a couple of minutes I was wondering since when bronze was so tough... it was gold!  We made a full extraction but of course it took longer than the usual 16 minutes.

If some low N7 people did this, they will usually get insta-kicked by other people,
but when high ranking people do this, people don't kick them because part of their thoughts are "well, he/she obviously played a lot, thus will know how to play and not die."

But as soon as the match starts, they always die on every single wave and usually they 'rage quit' because the match is hard to handle.

The results have been the same whether they were carrying good weapons and equipments or not. (At least for the people I saw)
So, be patient and level up your character a bit by playing on bronze and silver first, please.
(Unless you're really sure of your skills.)

There are conditions that allow this.

N7 destroyer has 1000 shields to start right? Cyclonic Modulator IV gives 100% shields so there is 2000 shields right there.

If it is set on FBW/G/G then Kroguards also work.

I did both and worked just fine.

But in general, yes level 1 characters are asking for trouble.

Dont let anyone here lie about their mad skillz, they just want YOU to carry their lvl 1. Sure, there are some that can play gold with lvl 1, but the REALITY is that most cannot and are nothing more that POSs that want you to carry them. Thats a FACT.
