Hello All!
I'm thinking about buying Mass Effect 2 and 3 so I can beat the trilogy, but my copy of Mass Effect (and the corresponding save file) are on my old laptop. I'd love to continue the series without having to play through Mass Effect 1 again, so does anyone know how Mass Effect 2 and 3 detect previous save files?
I.e., if I move my save file from my old computer on a thumb drive to my new computer, is there a specific folder in my ME2 directory that I can stick it in to load the correct data? Or does ME1 have to be installed on that computer too?
Worst case scenario I can pick up my copy of ME1 from my parents house, but I'd love not to have to make the 3-hour drive.
Thanks!
Transferring Mass Effect 1 save files to Mass Effect 2 & 3

So long as you have the saves on a USB stick and transfer them over, you're good to go. The saves should ressemble something like this:
Char_01-60-2-1-3-30-3-2010-70-24
I found it in my documents section under 'Bioware'' If it's not there, just use the search function on your computer and type ''Mass Effect Save''.
When you first play Mass Effect 2, you need to go the ''Configure'' section, and then to the ''Save Game'' section. Then, you can get the saves from your USB (or wherever you saved it). I think Mass Effect 3 does this automatically.
Let me know if you need any help.
Have fun
