Okay

I'm thinking of one day doing game play videos with each class.
But tactical pausing makes these sort of videos hard to watch.

So with only one tactical pause: For setting up hot key powers, ammo mods and defense powers like tech armour.

Which powers do you recommend I hotkey for each class?
Which powers do you recommend I hotkey for each squadmate?
Which setups do you recommend (setting up ammo mods and defensive powers like tech armour)?

If you're a PC gamer, feel free to contribute.

But you have a lot more hotkeys than us XBOX 360 and PS3 gamers. We can only map 5 abilities.
There are no rules against mapping medigel.

Is there anything you'd do differently.
Feel free to state what powers your squadmates would have mapped.

Mapping for squadmates: According to the arbitrary rules. You can only map 5 powers. So squadmates can only use one accorting to this system.

Ashley Williams:  Marksman,  (setup disruptor ammo, make it squad if Shepard doesn't have disruptor ammo)
Kaidan Alenko: Reave, (setup barrier)
James Vega: Carnage, (setup fortification and incendiary ammo)

Liara T'Soni:
Stasis, (setup warp ammo)
Garrus Vakarian: Overload (setup armour piercing ammo)
EDI: Overload (don't setup defence matrix)
Tali Zorah: Sabotage for backfire and tech vulnerability

Javik: Dark Channel. (Always pair Javik with Kaidan or Liara if mapping dark channel)

For the engineer (No bonus) I would go with the turret instead of incinerate.

That's a good suggestion N7 Shadow 90.
The turret was pretty useful.
Sentry turrets are a decent distraction and good at attacking enemies.
But I found I had to deploy it a lot to get the most out of it. Shepard is constantly on the move, never staying in one place too long. The turret doesn't move. So you need good strategy to use it well.
But with the right strategy that turret is devastating. The female Quarian engineer is amazing because of the turret.

As for the combat drone, it's usefulness varies.
If you want a follow the enemy drone, you have to spec it a certain way.
If you want an attack drone you have to spec it a certain way.

But if you mess up the spec, the combat drone is not very useful.
Best avoided unless you know what you're doing. Because you only have 3 of your 8 powers available (I'm counting Medigel and bonus here)

I agree, the turret can be played well. So can the combat drone. But they can also be pretty useless if you use them in certain ways.
I also think that EDI should have decoy instead of overload. And maybe Liara should have singularity instead?

Good choices.
It's hard to pick one power from each.

From Liara: Warp, singularity and stasis are all good choices for mapping.
From EDI: Overload, decoy and incinerate are all good choices for mapping.

So saying you have to pick one, creates an interesting dilemma.Размещенное изображение (sorry there are no pensive face options)

Yeah it is pretty hard to choose! I think you've made great decisions overall!

Decoy and singularity do work pretty well.

Decoy for taking off the heat.
If you're getting those protections down via shooting or powers, then Liara's singularity can deal with all unarmoured foes.

Good stuff.

It depends on the build and the squad member.

For Shepard's powers you practically have to map all of the ones you want to use. These I usually have set to 1-3, G and maybe mouse buttons.

Squad powers greatly vary. It depends on how you built them mostly and how the squad AI works. On certain characters, say Garrus with just Overload and Concussive Shot, you could get away with not mapping any and simply using Q or E on whatever target. If you give him Proximity Mine though you may end up seeing him shoot a mine when you want Overload and at that point you may have to map Overload.

Liara is the opposite, her AI is terrible and she will try to cast Singularity on armored targets, and spam Stasis needlessly, so you have to map Warp to a key in order to use it correctly.

If you want to have Ash use Marksman, that is another one that basically has to be mapped, but I don't invest in that power at all any more.

EDI also goes from smart to dumb the instant you add Decoy as a power. At that point she needlessly will use Decoy when you use Q or E and you will have needed to map Overload and Incinerate.

Another wrinkle is that while most squad members use CS well to ragdoll unprotected targets, they won't fire it at protected targets (with some exceptions if you have Amplification) so if you want to use CS to set off Tech Bursts, that also needs to be mapped.

Here was the thread I mentioned before: Bonus Powers and Mapped Powers.

Here was my original assessment:

RedCaesar97 wrote...

Please be more specific (how do you want to play, what squadmates do you plan on using... It will better determine your choice of bonus power and button mappings.

I have not played all the classes yet, so here is what I have used:

Vanguard:
- Bonus Power does not matter. Stasis is good for the occasional Phantom. I have seen others take Barrier. Carnage can be good paired with Incendiary Ammo for fire explosions.
- Y, LB, and RB (no bonus power, no Nova): Charge, Pull, Shockwave
- Y, LB, and RB (no bonus power, Nova): Charge, Nova, Medigel(?)
- Y, LB, and RB (with non-Ammo Power bonus power): Charge
- Take Liara everywhere. Kaidan (if alive) and Javik are also excellent.

Soldier:
- Bonus Power: Most bonus powers will work. Energy Drain and Defense Matrix are good choices. Reave and Slam are good when paired with Liara (and Javik) for combos. Reave will not combo with Reave, so Kaidan is less useful with this setup, but his Reave will detonate Slam. Energy Drain will combo with a lot tech abilities for combos. Carnage can be good for detonating fire explosions but I am not very good at that yet.

I have used Energy Drain and experimented with Defense Matrix and some Carnage.
- Y, LB, RB (no bonus power): Adrenaline Rush, Concussive Shot, Medigel
- Y, LB, RB (with non-Ammo Power bonus power): Adrenaline Rush, Concussive Shot, Bonus Power
I have never used grenades on a Soldier yet.

Infiltrator
- Decoy is apparently good (have not used it myself). Energy Drain is good (have not used any).
- Y, LB, RB (no bonus power): Cloak, Incinerate, Sabotage.
- Y, LB, RB (bonus power): Cloak, Sabotage, Bonus Power

Engineer (my current playthrough)
- Bonus power: Energy Drain is good until you recruit Tali as Garrus and EDI have Overload. Carnage could also work so you can set off fire your own fire explosions with Incinerate.
- Y, LB, RB (no bonus power, no Combat Drone): Sabotage, Cryo Blast, Incinerate -or- Overload, Sabotage, Incinerate -or- Overload, Sabotage, Cryo Blast
- Y, LB, RB (Energy Drain, no Combat Drone): Cryo Blast, Incinerate, Energy Drain

What I have seen others do:
Sentinel with Defense Matrix/Fortification/Barrier;
- Liara with Javik/Kaidan as squadmates
- Y, LB, RB: Throw (take reset cooldown evolution), Lift Grenades, Medigel; Your cooldowns will be too prohibitive to use any other powers. Bring up power wheel at mission start to active Tech Armor and then other defense power.

Adept
- Bonus power: Stasis. Barrier is also good, Dark Channel should be good as well. Reave can substitute for Warp
- Y, LB, RB: Pull/Singularity/Stasis, Throw, Warp

My views have not changed much.
I still have not played as a Sentinel or Adept. I think the Adept advice still stands.

I think for Sentinel:
 - No bonus power: Overload, Warp, Throw
 - Stasis/Reave/Dark Channel/Slam: Bonus power, Warp, Throw

Thanks for the heads up.

Lightsnow in that thread says that Reave is the most useful bonus power for an adept.

Area Pull, lifting shockwave and area reave.

I don't see the point of Shockwave (except fun, as I did do a Shockwave Adept in this game).  But Reave is a good power.  Whether it is more powerful than Warp is debatable, although it is insta-cast and gives you some damage reduction.  It does not have a bonus to Biotic Explosions, and on higher difficulties that is where the bulk of your damage output as a caster comes from.

I can see some gamers using

Cluster Grenade, Reave and Pull as their hotkeys.

Drell Adept kind of adept.
Do many gamers try to mimic online classes?

As a Nova-less Vanguard, I map Charge to Y, Shockwave to LB, and either Carnage or Reave to RB.
