These are interesting ways to play ME1.

4. I will play the game as if I only have one life to live. I will still save and reload, but I'm treating gameplay with that roleplaying mindset.

If you're looking for a justification for reloading - one parallel universe theory is that every decision made generates new parallel universes, one for each possible result. Loading the game is parallel-hopping.

5. I'll treat all choices and descisions in the game with no forethought or pre-knowledge of what will happen. The consequences are unknown in essence.

Just keep in mind this may conflict with having a completionist run. Consider which you want to give priority to. (This particularly figures into how many of the crew you recruit and make loyal in ME2 before the crew is taken, and consider carefully your Shephard's level of devotion to the Normandy's non-playable crew before you decide when to go into the Omega relay. In my run I did a lot of recruiting but not a lot of loyalty missions, and my has-a-thing-for-Kelly Shephard went straight into the Relay. Jack paid the price for Shephard's impatience with her life, and my ME3 run suffered for it.)

6. Always wear helmets in combat, no exceptions! (how does shepard protect his/her melon without a helmet otherwise?)

Shields and Barriers make helmets combat-optional as they protect without impeding visibility. HUD elements may come from contacts or implants so the lack of a screen to project them onto is irrelevant.

10. Only walking is allowed on non-combat area zones, such as hub worlds, and the Normandy.

This is the rule listed here I most strongly urge you to discard. For starters, people jog and run all the time outside of combat in real life, particularly when attending to some urgent task - and I think it's safe to say 'when attending to some urgent task' applies to Shephard at all times of playable game from landing on Eden Prime to the final scene's occurring as battle continues to rage around Earth.

Also, completely apart from it being justifiable, walking instead of running on hub worlds will extend the time it takes without adding anything meaningful to the game.

11. Background music will be completely turned off throughout the entire playthrough, to add to the realism. (I do love the music though )

Definitely have it on whenever you're at the Citadel - they pipe that music in on the elevators after all. Besides, who says the background music isn't coming from a personal audio system?

Now, feel free to suggest more rules that try to achieve the same or similiar things. I want this to be an experiment of sorts, so the more suggestions and tips I recieve, the better the experiments results. Remember though, I want it to be authentic/realistic for roleplaying purposes, not just neadlessly more challenging.

Only take a "this is my favorite store on the citadel" discount in ME2 at one store unless your Shephard is totally okay with two-timing some or all of them. (i.e. only if you have more than a tiny bit of Renegade)

After you finish the Collector Base mission in ME2, don't recruit anyone you missed beforehand - you already did the suicide mission, so it doesn't make sense to be recruiting people for a mission that's already done. Unfinished loyalty missions, on the other hand... I'd say go for it.

A couple of others things to keep in mind: I have not decided on beckground, birth place, or gender yet. Nor have I picked who I'll be romancing. However, all these things are open to feedback, and I'll be looking at what the general consensus is through the suggestions.

In the spirit of old-school D&D, roll a d20 (a twenty-sided die) for it.
1 = Make someone else choose for you. OR I choose Earth/Heroic/Female for you.
2 = Earth / Survivor / Male
3 = Earth / Survivor / Female
4 = Earth / Heroic / Male
5 = Earth / Heroic / Female
6 = Earth / Ruthless / Male
7 = Earth / Ruthless / Female
8 = Spacer / Survivor / Male
9 = Spacer / Survivor / Female
10 = Spacer / Heroic / Male
11 = Spacer / Heroic / Female
12 = Spacer / Ruthless / Male
13 = Spacer / Ruthless / Female
14 = Colonist / Survivor / Male
15 = Colonist / Survivor / Female
16 = Colonist / Heroic / Male
17 = Colonist / Heroic / Female
18 = Colonist / Ruthless / Male
19 = Colonist / Ruthless / Female
20 = screw being random, pick what you feel like at the moment.

You can also roll a d6 (six-sided die) to decide your class, if you don't have one picked out.

As for romance, don't decide it ahead of time, go with what develops through gameplay as you figure out who your Shephard is.

for the walking/ jogging/running thing i think if your making a sneak attack, which in game shepard does say a few times lets make a sneak attack, then walking as aposed to running/jogging would be more realistic, for the been quiet and stealthy affect, as for the vanguard thing firstly its my favourite class, but for realistic purposes its not the best class to play, sentinel/soldier/infiltraitor are probably the most believable classes for realism, especially if you dont want to break emersion, also for the gender and romance thing, i would try 1's you havent tried yet, it gives it that fresh feel and at least its 1 thing that you wont have all the information for before you start playing, the music thing, i have mine turned off and it does help a bit, but i never found it to brake my emersion when i had it turned on, everything else mentioned sounds good too :)
