When it is all going pear shaped and a rocket will save the game. Boom, problem solved.

When a Rocket Trooper has really ticked me off.

Excort or Pizza. Anything thats in the way, Boom, not in the way.

Eliminate targets. Love that mission on wave ten.

When a Pyro has really ticked me off.

Everyone has a their own reason to use Missles and I'd like to see how all of you use yours. My Number 1 Rules is..

"When in Doubt, Whip it Out."

I saved MANY Games using this Rule and it hasn't failed me yet.

My reasons to use a missile (on Gold or Platinum, some of them apply to Silver as well):

1. To change the target during a 4 important targets mission.

2. to clear the way for a pizza delivery, escort or deactivating a device

3. to keep the team from getting overrun during a hack

4. after having to use 2 medi-gels in a row, because everybody keeps getting downed and we're having what I call a "revive party".

5. to get a kill streak or to clear out a spawn on Wave 9 (usually I get both with one missile) :)

6. to save a squadmate when he is about to get grabbed (usually by a Banshee)

7. when I am really pissed off by a boss enemy (like 2 Banshees keep following me around the map)

8. when all my squadmates are dead and I have to finish the wave solo and don't want to take any risks because I am already very low on medi-gels

there's probably more reasons to use them. That's just right out of my head.

What I don't like are randoms to cheap to even consider using a missile on Wave 10 to save the objective. I mean come on, there is hardly a better investment than to receive the Wave 10 money if all you need is one missile.

But apparantly people keep thinking "let someone else spend his missiles, I take my chances".
And please don't tell me you don't have any missiles. Then WTF are you doing in a Gold or Platinum game?
And how did you manage to not have any? Spend 25.000 credits on Recruit Packs and you have another five. That's less credits than a simple silver Game is going to award you.

End of wave 2, missile out and ready.

End of wave 5, missile out and ready

End of wave 9, missile out and ready.

There did come a point, where missiles were just not dropping in jumbo packs, till recently (over 150 now).

Sometimes, a random player will put him/herself in harms way to leave the remaining 3 squad members "safe". I use a missile if required and if there is time to go after the objective and revive.

Basically, an objective round? have a missile ready. If you are greedy, the whole squad may not complete it, especially on Gold.

I save it to destroy toughest enemies in extreme situations, i.e. 3 banshees coming at your squad etc
and I usually save 1 rocket for final defense
edit: i have forgotten to mention that I use rockets only on Gold and Platinum (havent played on platinum, no stationary internet for my pc yet)

When you need it. When did we get into this mindset that using something given to you in order to help you out of difficult situations is wrong?

It would be like troops on the ground in Afghanistan thinking 'I really need an airstrike here and there's one available, but I might need it later on'

Bronze: Yeah... no. Biotic explosions do like half what a missile does on brone lol :P ... like 3 or 4 avenger bullets kill and half the match is looking for enemies because there are so few!

Silver: Spawn wipe in later waves to make it go faster or when the pugs arnt doing the disable obj and on the other side of the map and im being swamed -- and if i don't do the disable it's not getting done...

Gold: When a huge mob manages to break the line and there is no more falling back... or objectives.

Plat: Objectives. Period. Cycled w/ team mates. if we each fire 1 thats 4 rockets fired and we each have 4 left. Or if you REALLY really need to when multi banshees push way to close and people are down.

Silver wave 10 eliminate targets and extraction (extraction is depending on the map). Gold and higher, eliminate targets wave 10 and maybe wave 3 eliminate targets. I'm super strict about my missile usage on anything other than what I have stated.

1. on VIP objective, once its down to last bar of armor -- im DA MAN who killed it
2. right after a team-mate got insta-killed -- gotta have revenge
3. hacking / escort objectives right after someone else cleared the enemies with a missile
4. last second of wave 11 -- to steal the kills that would be awarded for all wounded enemy

My rule is to use it if I get irritated at a single enemy in a match....

I have on multiple occasions shot a single husk with a missile just because the little bastich was chasing me all over the map while I deal with other mobs and got tired of hearing him behind me.

During a dreaded 'revive-fest' yesterday I used a missile
on a Cerberus turret, and we motored on with the game.
It was the only missile I needed to use in four consecutive
games.

thats not such a bad idea. Had an awful Gold game the other day where my PUG team mate and I kept dying and revivng each other next to a turret. I should have just run away, fired a missile at the turret and then come back and revived him.

I never use missiles on Bronze.

Silver, I only use it if things are getting desperate. I must admit, I dont think ive ever used them against anything but a boss.

Gold - def will use them at some point (although I hesitate using them against banshees because i'm always worried i'll fire as theyre about to Biotic jump somehwere). I did have fun nuking two atlases standing in a line the other day.

platinum - never been good enough :crying:

I try to not waste them, but if an objective is helped, I use it. Sometimes I'm just tired of taking cr*p from sync killers and go for that satisfying "crunch". Having several sync kill capables in one place is like crunch going on sale, but only if I'm tired.

1. No missiles in the earlier waves unless everyone else is dead.

2. On later waves, use missiles to clear a path to fallen teammates or to make sure you don't get butt****ed by bosses or staggering enemies while reviving.

3. Use missiles on wave 10 as you see fit during the objective. Save the credits at all costs! Eliminate targets is a must for missiles.

Two boss enemies (banshees, brutes, atlases, phantoms, primes) with surrounding peons swamping us at point blank range = missle. One boss plus entourage if there is no easy way around them on a pizza delivery mission on gold or higher. Occasionally a missle will slip out when I nerd rage about getting downed from a Rocket Trooper triple tapping his rocket without reloading after locking onto me BEFORE he comes around a corner. :)

1. When there are targets on Wave 10.
2. If I'm the last man standing and it's after Wave 7 and I think my team mates are good enough to help me through to Wave 10.

I'll always do it for condition 1, and usually for condition 2.

Wave 6 mission and onwards, another time is a huge exception if everyone is downed very early and I need to clear the area, I sometimes just die out if I realise that these people will refuse to use any consumables later on

I play to win, I hate stingy cheap players

I save them for mission rounds. Use them sparingly to save team, but only sparingly because inevitably when i do it's the last few targets at the end of the round. So, I didn't do anything but waste a rocket.

Then, if I have any left after wave ten, I go to the opposite side of the map from the extraction and find boss groups until I'm out of rockets. Usually have 3 or 4 left over so this is fun.
