Well duh, of course ME2 was better. Only a few WTF moments and breaks in logic ("Why are we all getting in a shuttle? I'm not going anywhere!' and "Why are the Council being morons? I thought they acknowledged the Reaper threat?"). However, the characters were top notch, the plot easily showed "This is how we will beat the Collectors and the Reapers after them" and left off with you feeling a badass.
ME2 also didn't decide to nullify most of ME1 and added lots of flavor to make your playthrough feel unique.
ME2 was everything a 2nd game should be.
Mass effect 2 was a better game

Take LotSB into account and yeah, defiantly.
In contrast, ME3 is the opposite of what a third game should be. You could just play ME3 and not feel like anything was missing and THAT's a major problem for a game series that your choices can carry over.

I prefer in ME3 that they backed off on the more menial side quests more. It ended up being gameplay I'd never touch again i.e. a waste. Don't get me wrong, I love ME2. I've played it more than ME3, but the mood was so serious in the latter.

In Me2 you could actualy speak with you squad, not just talk to their backs. Yeah, a lot of dialogue lines is good but you somehow losing connection with a character. And yeah, Suicide Mission was victorious and uplifting.

No. Mass Effect was, followed by ME3. ME2 is just a lulz.
I agree.
Each time, I think about starting up ME2, I ask myself what was the point of the game. Recruit -> do loyalty mission ->
raise EMS. The Reaper storyline stalled, till Mass Effect 3. The main squad was great though.

ME 3 >= ME 2 > ME 1
ME 1, I hate to say this especially after 4th playthrough, but it is almost a chore to play through nowadays (especially for a completionist like me).

This is the internet. When the stakes are this high, it's all or nothing and winner takes all. There is no room for civility.

ME3 and ME2 are on the same level to me, with ME1 falling in behind - tedious combat, plain characters that only gained depth in ME2 and 3, not to mention the always same looking side-quests and endless Mako-driving, which is why I can't bring myself to playing it for another time. The thing ME1 has going for it, is introducing the universe and Reaper threat.
This, though I should add the awesome soundtrack and it provided some nice vistas. But overall as a game it is clearly inferior to its sequels.

Better than "Not right now Shepard, my writer has run out of things to say and won't even let you enter the normal conversation system like the past two games did. *click* Not right now Shepard. *click* Not right now Shepard. *click* Dangit! I have no more dialogue! Not right now!"

Pretty much my impressions as well. While it added greatly to the characters in the ME universe, the main story severely lacked relevance to the storyline of the trilogy as a whole. ME2's main story to me looked more like a side-mission. You can practically skip it and you're still pretty much at the same point were ME3 started off.

What are you talking about? After every mission a squadmate had something new to say, sometimes dialog wheel, sometimes they just said something with no wheel. Much better then saying nothing like in ME2 where all you had was 4-6 convos, then that was it, depsite the fact there was so many missions thus dialog lacking was very glarring, a issue Mass Effect and ME3 never had, I was always excited after completeing a mission in ME and ME3 to go chat up my squad because I always knew they would have new things to say, something that lacked in ME2. I never had that feeling in ME2.Ticonderoga117 wrote...

Yeah, the Mako-drives sometimes made up for it with their vistas, but that's about it. The soundtrack in all three games is awesome, I wouldn't dare pick a favorite here, that's why I left that out

Seeing the impact of my me1 choices in me2 prepared me for the same in me3, was surprised they went a little farther with how they did their small scene edits and cameo's.
Oh, and no. I didn't think me2 was just setting up me1 consequences for me3, me2 was where most of them would get their payoffs and that was the standard I expected.
