ME2 is the worst game of the series imo. Although I really enjoy the characters, the story makes absolutely no sense and the game is 80% side quests and 20% main storyline....probably because the main storyline is so damn stupid.

How does it not make sense? By that logic, ME3 makes absolutely none and is comprised of nothing more than the ramblings of someone on LSD.

Sorry, can't agree. For a start Mass 2 is way more dumbed down than Mass 3; No weapon customization, lack of squad inderaction, restrictive classes and power trees. It also falls short in story and character development, dew in no small part of it's over sized squad roster. It's gameplay mechanics are also inferior; the cover system, though light years better than Mass 1's, is still rudimentary, and level designs are just linear corridors for you to run and gun down till you get to a mission objective. Mass 3 improves in almost all these areas.

Mass 2 is still an awesome game to me though, and does do some stuff better that Mass 3. Less auto dialogue, less linear story procession, and a vehicle to bomb around in at times (not enough times and the Mako is still better). Oh, and a better journal/codex. But these things for me are only minor triumphs and not eought to make it a better overall game.

ME>ME3>ME2

For me, ME2 was just a bridge that I had to go over to get to the continuity of the story that started in 1. I don't know, i just never got emotionally invested in ME2 storyline.

A bridge ME2 might be, but ME3 is not the other side of it. At all.

I'm one of those people who is quite satisfied with the game (ME3) in overall.I mean most say "The game was great until the last ten minutes". I agree with that. I don't think it's THAT bad and I think a lot of things could have been done differently but as I was seriously emotionally invested in the whole storyline (which is now undoubtebly over) I made peace with it and concluded it was not such a disaster.

i guess we aren't all alike :o

Easily rectified, don't worry - that's what we have Synthesis for

Okay, I've seen more than one person here say that ME3 was terrible, and I know exactly why they think that. It's because the ending wasn't the perfect ending they WANTED. Well, get over it. People who say ME and ME2 were good, but ME3 sucked are dumb imo, because ME2 and ME3 are almost the same game in terms of graphics and gameplay. The biggest difference is the ending and lack of collectors. I got news for the whiners. If you want a perfect ending, make the game yourself because "perfect" is subjective. With the Extended Cut, I personally think the endings are good. Very good, in fact. Choose destroy, though! Because, Shepard isn't done yet!

Calling people dumb never helps your argument

This, I hate ME2, but I have friends hwo love it and I respect their opinions. No one is stupid for liking ME and ME2 and not liknig ME3 or liknig ME3 the most ect. It's all opinions and taste. I was just messing around with Iggy, but I do have alot of distaste for ME2.

But calling someone stupid for not having your opinion? That's not cool.

I'm gald that your really chill I'm sorry if we got off bit pissy.

Let me reword that, then. Honestly, I think it is dumb to say that ME3 sucks if you like the first two. I do not think a person is dumb for having an opinion I do not agree with. I just think that opinion is dumb. All subjective. You guys, as ME fans, are my bros and sisters for sure. No doubt. I'm just saying my personal opinion.

Well that's cool and all, but looking back, I can't say that "Yeah, this is a good game considering the other two".
-6 months sitting on your butt? Why?! Shepard, you know the Reapers are coming! Do something!
-Insta-win device on Mars? Wouldn't a better place be somewhere out in the middle of nowhere?
-Gathering allies. Ok cool.
-Why must Thane get stabbed? Shoot the ninja!
-Why must Legion die? It's called "Copy and Paste".
-Cerberus has the Reaper corpse? But I blew it up! How is this even here?! How did they get to the other side of the Omega 4 relay?!
-Assualting Reapers with no Cains? Why? We need all the firepower we can muster!
-Everything after the elevator to bizarro land. \\

Just can't roll with it with all of this.

ME2 was so good because it was so fulfilling. You spent whole game collecting your squadmates, gaining their loyality and upgrading ship. And you got a huge pay-off in the Suicide Mission. Everything you did throughout the game mattered. Final battle cutscene changed depending on your upgrades/lack of them

And what do we get with ME3? An even bigger build-up and totally no pay off. The Fleets arrive cutscene is 3 minutes long and actual fighting is like 30-40 seconds. Nothing changes depending on what fleets you gathered. Mostly Alliance ships are shown.

The ground is even worse, with complete lack of war-type feeling and lack of..everything... Just 3 men walking through a street shooting things.
That's the biggest disappointment for me, that's what ME2 did better. Storyline/gameplay wise ME3 tops ME2.

I agree.

Each time, I think about starting up ME2, I ask myself what was the point of the game.  Recruit -> do loyalty mission ->
raise EMS.  The Reaper storyline stalled, till Mass Effect 3. The main squad was great though.

I don't agree with your last point, mainly because a lot of ME2 missions had nuances that are lacking in many ME3 missions. In ME2, you had missions where you hide to play hide and seek with the sun, you had missions that didn't even involve fighting but rather undercover work or spying, you had missions where you hop between stations in the hammerhead...in general, ME3's shooting bits are superior to ME2's, but the variety of gameplay is severely lacking.

Ways ME2 Makes no sense:

Shepard joins up with a group responsible for the murders of multiple Alliance personnel, including (if you were a Sole Survivor like me), his entire squad during what was the defining tragedy of the character's life.

Entire human colonies are disappearing, but the Alliance does not think this is worth doing anything about.

I am resurrected after being dead for 2 years (but people have a problem with space magic?).

While this dire threat is going on, I decide to go to a prison and release a dangerous psychopath to join my squad, because I have plenty of time.

I'm watching football so I don't feel like thinking of any more, but these are the real doozies.

While I did like ME3's level system and the gun customization, ME2 had more than "Shoot dude, go to next bit, shoot more dudes" and it also had more varied dudes to shoot. Better than looking at Cerberus mooks all day.

In Me2 you could actualy speak with you squad, not just talk to their backs. Yeah, a lot of dialogue lines is good but you somehow losing connection with a character. And yeah, Suicide Mission was victorious and uplifting.

"Can it wait for a bit, I'm in the middle of calibrations?"

Better than "Not right now Shepard, my writer has run out of things to say and won't even let you enter the normal conversation system like the past two games did. *click* Not right now Shepard. *click* Not right now Shepard. *click* Dangit! I have no more dialogue! Not right now!"

What are you talking about? After every mission a squadmate had something new to say, sometimes dialog wheel, sometimes they just said something with no wheel. Much better then saying nothing like in ME2 where all you had was 4-6 convos, then that was it, depsite the fact there was so many missions thus dialog lacking was very glarring, a issue Mass Effect and ME3 never had, I was always excited after completeing a mission in ME and ME3 to go chat up my squad because I always knew they would have new things to say, something that lacked in ME2. I never had that feeling in ME2.

When you got short dialogues after every mission it's great. This is good change. It helps greatly with atmosphere. But we got only one or two "real" conversations with squadmates when you could actualy use dialogue wheel and camera moving around, we  don't even have investigation option in these coversations. In ME2 i had like 4 or 5 big conversations and investigation option with Jack for example. Even Zaeed got so many interesting stories around him. (Ever been in batarian prison?) Yeah you got Citadel dialogues, some of them are awesome(joker) but you dont actualy talking with your crew, you just pushing "continue" button. I don't even mention f***ton of autodialogue (what the f*** are you talking so much by yourself Shepad?) the least of my problem. I do like how we got a lot more dialogues in game, but not the way they are implemented.

Ok. So...storywise:
-Shep had to/wanted to? Your choice.
-I agree with that one.
-^_^
-Sometimes in stories characters die for no apparent reason. I read (as did we all i presume) where a character dies and I was like "Why? No! He could have saved her! He only needed to..." You get my point :)
-George R.R. Martin anyone? When you create sh!tloads of characters, you kill them off. Not everyone can live.
-
-No logical explanation here. So, i agree.
-

What I mean to say that it doesn't matter. If I want I can headcannon all of these little things you mention. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending the game. I'm just saying that I don't feel angry anymore (and I did before. i really did). I played all the games and after all these years of being into it I made my peace with it and accepted it as it is. No use in anything else.

I was in the same boat, but this boils down to "No one else is lifting a finger so let's take TIM's stuff now, fix the problem, then deal with him later". Which is awesome, because through-out I totally went against Cerberus. Oh, want me to upload this data? I'll give it to the Alliance. Oh, want this Geth? Nah, I'll awaken him and make friends. Oh? Want this Quarian to interrogate. Nah. Oh? Want to continue those experiaments on David? Nope! Ahahahaha! Oh, and then I'm going to steal this shiny ship!

Entire human colonies are disappearing, but the Alliance does not think this is worth doing anything about.

Because they are out beyond thier borders or on the very edge and it wouldn't be the first time Cerberus or pirates made a colony or settlement go dark.

I am resurrected after being dead for 2 years (but people have a problem with space magic?).

Matter of scale. Taking two years to rebuild a single person (which also took a TON of money and tech)? Cool.
Changing the entire galaxy in 5 seconds on a fundamental level? Not cool.

While this dire threat is going on, I decide to go to a prison and release a dangerous psychopath to join my squad, because I have plenty of time.

You need badasses. This mission is going to need the very best to have a chance to succede. Jack is an EXTREMELY powerful biotic. Very handy to have when you and your merry crew go knocking on the Collector's front door.

You make a good point. But a lot of Mass 2's best and most vered missions, such as the Hammerhead and stealth, come form DLC. And Levi shows Mass 3 is getting more mission variety introduced throguh DLC. I'll give you Haestrom though, that was a lot of fun.

Well, you got to shoot Geth and Reaper (finally, after two games!) mooks, too. And you had the Geth fighter base, which did bring some variety. And many of the variety of gameplay in ME2 came through DLC where the chance to experiment is greater. See Arrival with the sneaking,LotSB with car-chase or Overlord with that VR segment.
