I'll stick to just "Having fun with playing the game". Regardless of how good BL2 is, it's an FPS, not a cover-based shooter in the ME universe with biotics and tech powers wielded by a nice variety of alien characters. It is a different genre altogether, and while I'll possibly pick up BL2 at some point to give it a shot, I'll continue to enjoy ME3 MP, because it's the only MP game in the ME universe, and that makes it unique for me.

Well, you have an interesting definition of "fun," but to each his own. GrimDark SpaceMagic Console-crippled 3rd-person shooter just isn't entirely my thing. That doesn't even have co-op SP in addition to whatever MP it's going to get.

Are gamers really this desperate for an OK-level story, in any case? (A story they still ended up hating the end of, I might add.) "Good for a game" doesn't really equal "Good story in general."

Go try Pohl's Gateway series if you want a story that's actually good, it handled a lot of the concepts in ME far better than ME ever did. And that's just one example.

You'd have a point about story there if I were talking about the singleplayer, but as this is the MP forum, I am saying that I enjoy the multiplayer. I like the gameplay. Partaking in gameplay that I like is indeed what I consider fun, if that's an interesting definition, I'd love to hear what yours is.

Re-read the bolded part. You brought it up; without the story, there is no "ME universe," there's just some character/gun models and some maps.

And part of the gameplay of multiplayer they've built in is grinding for decent guns/different characcters if you don't want to give them $$$ for the lottery tickets that may or may not give them to you. Participating in a credit-and-scratch-off-lotttery-ticket-based economy isn't my idea of fun, but it is EA's idea of using players as an extended revenue stream.

Multiplayer in ME3 wan't built with the focus on you having fun. The focus is letting you have just enough fun that you don't leave and maybe give EA more money on top of what you already paid for the game.

Your post seemed indicate a focus on the main plot line, what with your reference to the ending and all, whilst I am referring to the ME Universe as a whole, one that's been fleshed out in a bunch of different ways. And one that I like. You are of the opinion that there are better universes, which is an entirely subjective opinion. We can just agree to disagree on that.

Now, since you're trying to use semantics to tell me that I am not having fun, even though I am, I'll make it clear as day for you; I enjoy the combat. I enjoy the powers, the guns and the movement. The RNG store doesn't bother me, as I have everything I need to do any difficulty, and further unlocks are just gravy. Could they have used a better system for equipment progression? Yeah, sure. Does it noticeably detract from my personal enjoyment of the game? Not really, no.

I don't need a carrot to enjoy this game, because I simply enjoy playing it.

So basically you were talking about the plot line as well, since without it it there's no ME universe or any other "different ways" it's been fleshed out. My point stands. If you don't want to talk about something, don't bring it up.

I'm not trying to tell you you're not having fun. I've simply pointed out that I think your idea of fun is odd. Those aren't the same statements. Don't put words in my mouth.

In short, if you're having fun, great, for whatever values of fun you seem to get by on. That in no way invalidates anyone else's complaints or observations about the game, such as what I originally wrote:

Have fun grinding for credits to get lottery tickets that may or may not make your efforts worthwhile. Bit too much like real life, if you ask me... presuming you would play the lottery there.

Meanwhile, OH HEY never mind, I just checked and I can can start pre-loading now. All bandwidth reserved for downloading now, no sense wasting it on ME3 MP any more. :D

Don't agree with that? Fine. All I said was your idea of fun was different. If that's OK, why did you keep on and on?

Hey darth,

You know not all the people play to get credits on the multiplayer, some people like me actually play to have fun.
If for any wicked reason you take this game for the sole/main reason to get credtis to use on a unsatisfactory store system, then might as well rethink why you play this game after all, seems you got confused somewhere during your gaming experience and took the "extras" as the "end" of the gaming experience, and the "having fun" factor as doing some sort of "effort".

also... save your bandwith for the "pre.loading" and stop posting will you? there was actually an on topic discussion going on here.

My primary point is that enjoying the powers, guns and general combat is not odd in any way. I'd sooner say that defining fun by the manner in which you get shinies is a bit more odd. You grind for creds, I shoot things for fun.

And again, there's a difference between the main plot line, and the universe the plot line takes place in. That really shouldn't be too hard to understand. I find large chunks of the plot Star Wars to be pretty lame, yet I still think it's a pretty interesting universe.

I think dlc needs to be bigger for unlocking purposes, in the sense of 6-8 new guns, 12-16 new class builds and a new opponent here and there. These six class three guns deal is cool but, there are a ton of untouched gun and characters out there, been a fan since me1, a ton of nostalgic equipment would rule. also bring in some council races, spectres, stg, give us the universes spec ops teams. we hardly have touched on anything but the new content in ME3, how hard would it be to add in a ton of old weapons and mods along with eneimes and character models?

Tuesday is when I pick up my preordered copy of Borderlands 2, so I would actually prefer if there isn't an upcoming DLC. I want to be able to just focus on one game.

I think you're missing the point. There's items and entire characters I still can't use or play, and yeah, it's limiting my fun, because I can't actually play parts of the game. The only way to get them is to grind or pay $$$, and it's still random whether that will even work.

Really? Can't you just admit you brought the story aspect in by mentioning the universe? Wouldn't that be simpler? Because the objective fact remains that the universe doesn't change the cynical cash grab aspect of EA's business model in multiplayer here. Like I said, you don't want to talk about it, don't bring it up, and stop bringing it up.

I wish they could add a new faction, and or new enemies to the ones already on the MP.
New content is always good to keep the players active and happy. It is imposible to avoid people migrating from one game to other, but if the experience was good enough or if they made good contacts with other fellow gamers people always keeps returning to the same games, so im not freaking out about it.

And even if the "new" contet is not as mindblowing as one would wish, i really hope the fix most of the bugs on the mp... really, i can deal with a somewhat repetitive game, but bugs that make a game unplayable with certains classes (vanguard) or in certain maps (rio, condor) its just something that surpasses me from time to time..

And...
well, thats the way the store works mate, im sorry but sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you dont. thats the random part of it. if may i suggest try using what you already have, dont farm, play gold and make friends, you will start getting good credits, or "at least" (lol) good games, you dont need a level x weapon to rock with it. Look at my manifest, i have everything unlocked and lots of high ranked weapons, i havent farmed for them, nor have i payd for BW points to feed the troll store, and most days i can only play about 3-5 games. And to be honest you have lots of stuff unlocked i dont know what the fuss is about, its worse when you cant seem to unlock a level 1 weapon than when you cant seem to get more of the same.

And for the last part..
yah, im not a mod. and neither i need to be one to be entitled to try to get people to use forums the way they are meant to be used. These forums are tools, and if you post about off topic stuff you are not helping others who might want to find certain information on a dedicated thread about a topic they clicked to discuss or learn about.

Why admit something that isn't accurate? So you can 'win'? I like the universe, I don't know why this is such a huge issue, I've moved beyond caring about the main plot months ago. I'm not the one who keeps bringing it up. Your comment indicated to me that it was aimed the main plotline, I clarified, and you continued to insist that I'm talking about the main plot when I'm not.

And no, I haven't changed my point. My point from my first post was that I have fun playing the game. That statement has not changed, no matter how much you flail about trying to nitpick at semantics. It's not that I "don't mind the grind". It's not there for me, there is no grind, because I don't play to get new shinies, I play because I find playing fun. I can't really fathom why this point is so incredibly difficult for you comprehend.

Edit: I also don't really find the MP to be a 'cynical cash grab'. We get all the DLC for free, we have the option to pay money for  packs if we are so inclined, but are in no way required to. They need to make money some way, it is a business after all.

Every online game I've ever played there's always been a bunch of forum lurkers that seem to spend their whole time telling everyone how crap the current game is and how 'everyone will leave' when their chosen glorificus game is release. ME3 seems to be BL2.

Yep.  I used to be hardcore EQ'er, and I lost count of the number of times we had to deal with the "omgz new game X will kill EQ!!!111oneonoeone"  Dark Age of Camelot, World of Warcraft, Vanguard, if another MMORPG launched we were always hearing this same drivel.  Last week EQ announced their 20th expansion due out later in the year.  13+ years later and the game's still turning enough profit for them to make new expansions.

There's always a new fad, and doomsayers are always going to say doom because of it.  That's not the way it works though.  People still play Dungeons and Dragons FFS.  A new release can't kill an older game.  It can diminish its playerbase a bit, but as long as the older game is entertaining its fanbase it's going to have a nice long life.  The only people who can kill a game are the people developing it.
