Mac Walters is almost universally reviled here on BSN. Although it's easy to paint him as the scapegoat for the endings, I find it odd that a lot of people dismiss his writing abilities altogether. He was responsible for Garrus, one of the most popular characters, in ME1 and ME2. He wasn't involved in ME3 Garrus, and to be frank, I thought he was a bit boring in ME3. In any case, I think people shouldn't be so quick to judge everything Mac Walters has done as bad. While he may not be a good plot writer and made huge blunders in the ending, there are aspects of his writing that are good, such as character writing.
EDIT: Some people have pointed out that Walters didn't write ME2 Garrus. Well, I'm simply going by this interview with Mac Walters.
http://popwatch.ew.c...-3-mac-walters/ Walters: "Having written Garrus in the first game, that’s a character I’ve always followed. I wrote him as well in the second game, but then handed him off in Mass Effect 3."
