He wrote a couple good characters. Then he wrote an ending that killed all three games, all future games, heck the whole franchise. Gee, I wonder which he'll be remembered for ...

Oh please, stop being such a drama queen.  The ending ruined the last ten minutes, and nothing else.  Hell, given how rife with headcanon the endings are, you'd think people just want to be dissatisfied.  You can come up with an exceedingly positive interpretation for any ending (you can even endeavor to make Refuse tolerable), and yet nobody seems to try that.  Instead, they take the most negative interpretation possible and then complain about Bioware being responsible for their own crappy interpretation.

It definitely could have been better written, explained, etc.  No argument here.  But it ruins only as much as you let it ruin.  And if you let it ruin the whole franchise for you, then the Reapers really have won.

See, I can be a drama queen too.  ;)

No, YOU stop liking ME3!

See how that works?

All the stories in which he was in charge of, that i'm aware of, were contrived, nonsense. I'm only going off the GNs and the ending, though. If he was in charge of the loyalty mission, though, including the choices and overall plot, that was really good. Spectacular, even. However, I was the impression it was committee plotted

Also, Garrus in ME1 was written like a human with daddy issues, so I wouldn't really advertise that character work.

And what was Garrus written like in ME2? His character arc is the exact same (even trotting out that tired revenge plot), and he's still the emotionally immature foot stomper he was in ME1...with minimal dialogue and an annoying meme for good measure.

Exactly.

I do love Garrus, have since ME1, so I give Mac full credits of that. ^_^

And? It's not like Garrus is some incredibly complex character with a deep character arch. In ME2 he just magically turns into this badass since the events of ME1.

I'd have liked to have actually seen how his character devlopes from events in the game itself rather than it just happening without me experiencing it.

Out of curiosity, who wrote Garrus in ME3?

I liked Garrus in ME2, but he was written faaaaarrrr better in ME3. One more strike against Walter's talent.

I'd take Samara too.

The only squaddies I wouldn't take over Garrus are Jacob and Vega.

Everyone on BSN thinks they're professional critics and know good writing when most of them probably work at Dennys or something.

Disregarding how inane this non-sequitur was, how does working at "Denny's" preclude understanding of basic literary tenants or analysis?

Err, yeah knew that, but being a great character writer, is a bit different from sticking to the facts already laid out in the story, and trying to erase them in the final chapter...kind of like the fourth book.

People do not need to think of others in absolute terms. That's just a bunch of hyperbole and jingoistic behavior.

Someone who writes doesn't write everything well. And sometimes bad writers write something good. So what?

The endings suck. They are atrocious. It doesn't mean Garrus and Wrex writing is bad. Even coming from the same writer. And it is pretty obvious that writing good Garrus and Wrex fic didn't save the god awful ending(s),,,,

Which Denny's?  If I go there, would I get a BSN discount on the All-American Slam, or does that even exist in Canada (where everyone on BSN probably lives)?

I don't think most of BSN is Canadian.

The concept of Indoctrination was conceived by a Canadian developer so it is possible that the two are connected somehow.

Garrus never loses.

Catalyst either...

Just little comparison:
Garruss - never lost for a 30-40 years of his life
Catalyst - never lost for EONS of its own existence

Then maybe most of BSN should be Canadian.  I'll look into this.
